I worked at this restaurant for over a year & half, & my experience was quite disappointing. I believe it's important to share the serious hygiene & operational issues that I encountered during my time here.
One of the most concerning aspects is the restaurant's lack of attention to cleanliness & food safety. I personally saw rats, cockroaches, ants, & flies, which creates an unhealthy environment for both employees & customers. This level of neglect impacts the dining experience & raises major health concerns, & they were reported & had health inspections during the time I was here.
The cleanliness of the kitchen & dining areas also raises serious concerns. I have seen food mishandled, including dumplings that were dropped on the floor, wiped & then steamed again for customers. Moldy steamer trays are kept in use because the owner doesn't want to get it replaced, & teapots are merely rinsed rather than thoroughly cleaned. After customers leave, the water in glass bottles is not emptied before being reused, meaning that the next table drinks water that was originally used by someone else. I had also occurred once that the customer found out that the dumplings had a steamed cockroach in their plate. Sometimes there would be cockroaches just casually crawling across the dining table.
Side dishes are stored in cheap plastic containers, which raises concerns about potential microplastic ingestion, even the wonton soup is microwaved. The lack of proper cleaning & sanitation extends to the steam trays, which are only lightly rinsed just with water by waitresses & waiters, as I was stopped a few times that I wanted to wash them with dish soap. As a result, the first customers of the day may receive food prepared in clean trays, but subsequent customers are served from trays that have only been hastily rinsed.
In addition, the management/HR practices are non existent. The manager plays favorites & the shift allocation was unpredictable. Employees received fewer shifts & by giving minimal or zero shifts so that leads them to quit by their own eventually. This creates an unstable work environment with little job security. I also once witnessed the manager using a waitress's phone to leave a fake 5-star review for the restaurant, which is highly unethical & misrepresents the true customer experience.
The workload itself is overwhelming, with staff expected to do everything-ranging from taking orders & serving food to preparing side dishes, cleaning tables, & washing steam trays & beer glasses, assigning seats, prepare takeout orders, making customers pay, counting the cash by the end of the shift, yet we are paid 12.6 dollars per hour. Additionally, waitresses & waiters do not receive 100 percent of the tips.
The combination of poor management, unclean facilities, & unsanitary practices makes this restaurant a place I cannot recommend for either employment or dining.View more

Best restaurant in Chinatown. Incredibly savoury dumplings. & way less crowded than Sammi! If you like coriander, get the Pork & Coriander. The Curry Beef is also super tasty. & be sure to get it steamed! The soup stays in the dumpling that way.View more

Great service & we were seated fast as big group with no reservation. Delicious soup dumplings & there were a good amount in each portion. Shrimp pork & scallop dumplings were excellent. The peanut butter pork dumplings were also great. So many options & looking forward to coming again.View more

It was cold & rainy today so what a perfect time to have a wonton soup & dumplings. The soup was good but a bit oily for me, however the shrimp dumplings on the soup were so tiny hahaha. I also got the dumplings surprise which they say have a minimum of five varieties on their menu. I'm pretty sure I got the chicken & corn, shrimp & the rest I wasn't too sure but nonetheless they were all very yummy. I grew up in Asia, ate lots of dumplings & I would say this place makes one of the best dumplings I've eaten in my life! The wrapper of each dumplings was just perfect for me (not too thick & not too thin). Each of the dumpling is bite size pieces & they're easy to pick up with chopsticks/spoon.View more

Incredibly authentic Chinese restaurant in the middle of the organic Chinatown in Montréal. We were told to try the cucumber salad, which was light & refreshing. Next we got a platter of mixed soup dumplings that came with instructions on how to eat them, we had chicken, lamb, & beef dumplings & they were all delectable. They were better soup dumplings than I've had anywhere in Toronto.View more

Tu sais comment ça se passe, on devait aller ailleurs mais la patience nous a manqué ... la patience cette belle vertu que j'aimerais tant posséder. Je connaissais le resto & j'aime les dumplings comme les dinosaures aiment les autres dinosaures.. quand ils les mangent , les dinosaures mangeaient d'autres ... en tout cas . J'aime les dumplings avec férocité. On a tout dévoré parce que c'était délicieux. Tu le vois pas sur les photos mais au menu il y avait de la salade de concombres marinés. Frais très délicat. les concombres ont la texture de pickles sans le côté vinaigré. C'est plutôt sucré en fait. La soupe aigre piquante manquait de caractère, rien de criminel mais pas un must. La salade de nouilles au goût d'arachide était elle très satisfaisante. Un goût d'arachide mais sans subjuguer, frais aussi. Sans être officiellement des « soup dumplings » ceux-ci étaient frais & bien juteux. Porc sucré, boeuf cury, qu'on a fait griller, & crevette porc échalote. Mention spéciale aux deux premiers choix. On a même dit que les porc sucré étaient ...funky. T'imagine? On s'est sali comme des enfants, la table aussi. La honte, pour vrai . C'est donc pas une bonne idée d'y aller en portant ton complet en lin importé. Le service est vraiment bien, c'est bruyant un peu, faut parler fort, y a pas de rideau en velours entre les tables. Quoi? Beaucoup beaucoup d'options de dumplings. La nourriture est bonne & à prix juste. On va sûrement y retourner.View more

This place has never let us down. It's hands down one of the best dumpling spots we've ever found, & we keep coming back for more. Even during peak hours, when there's often a wait, the staff is incredibly thoughtful. They make sure you're seated as quickly as possible based on the size of your group, though larger parties might need a bit more patience. We've tasted their shrimp soup & hot & sour soup, & both were delicious. They also serve some truly authentic spring rolls. As for the dumplings, we've tried both steamed & pan-fried, but the steamed ones have won our hearts. Our all-time favorites are the chicken coriander & curry chicken dumplings. If you can't decide between steamed & fried, you can even get a half-&-half order for just 50 cents extra. If you find yourself downtown or near Chinatown, do yourself a favor & give this place a try. You won't be disappointed.View more

Came here based on reviews & it more than delivered. We orders the chefs special of a variety of dumplings. It was nice to try a lot of flavors. Some had more soup than others but they all had good flavor. Nice & efficient service.View more

A perfect stumble upon.... It looked inviting & there was no line out the door like some other places. We had hot & sour soup & the Pork mushroom dumplings. I ordered them fried but feel like i should have ordered them steamed, maybe we'll sneak back tomorrow & do a real comparison. Anyway the dumplings were excellent, service was good & it's a cool place. Lots of good restaurants in the area but you can't go wrong here if you love dumplings. By the time we left at 7 there was a line out the door :)View more

Great food, TERRIBLE SERVICE! I went on a friday afternoon & got their special(dumplings + soup +salad) The waitress told us that they did not have more salad & that we could just have the soup... she did not offer us to get another thing instead of the salad... at the end we got the salad but not the soup... WTF! also she did not offer us something to drink... I did not leave her tip!!!!!!!!! F. Yeah!!!!
