I worked at this restaurant for over a year & half, & my experience was quite disappointing. I believe it's important to share the serious hygiene & operational issues that I encountered during my time here.
One of the most concerning aspects is the restaurant's lack of attention to cleanliness & food safety. I personally saw rats, cockroaches, ants, & flies, which creates an unhealthy environment for both employees & customers. This level of neglect impacts the dining experience & raises major health concerns, & they were reported & had health inspections during the time I was here.
The cleanliness of the kitchen & dining areas also raises serious concerns. I have seen food mishandled, including dumplings that were dropped on the floor, wiped & then steamed again for customers. Moldy steamer trays are kept in use because the owner doesn't want to get it replaced, & teapots are merely rinsed rather than thoroughly cleaned. After customers leave, the water in glass bottles is not emptied before being reused, meaning that the next table drinks water that was originally used by someone else. I had also occurred once that the customer found out that the dumplings had a steamed cockroach in their plate. Sometimes there would be cockroaches just casually crawling across the dining table.
Side dishes are stored in cheap plastic containers, which raises concerns about potential microplastic ingestion, even the wonton soup is microwaved. The lack of proper cleaning & sanitation extends to the steam trays, which are only lightly rinsed just with water by waitresses & waiters, as I was stopped a few times that I wanted to wash them with dish soap. As a result, the first customers of the day may receive food prepared in clean trays, but subsequent customers are served from trays that have only been hastily rinsed.
In addition, the management/HR practices are non existent. The manager plays favorites & the shift allocation was unpredictable. Employees received fewer shifts & by giving minimal or zero shifts so that leads them to quit by their own eventually. This creates an unstable work environment with little job security. I also once witnessed the manager using a waitress's phone to leave a fake 5-star review for the restaurant, which is highly unethical & misrepresents the true customer experience.
The workload itself is overwhelming, with staff expected to do everything-ranging from taking orders & serving food to preparing side dishes, cleaning tables, & washing steam trays & beer glasses, assigning seats, prepare takeout orders, making customers pay, counting the cash by the end of the shift, yet we are paid 12.6 dollars per hour. Additionally, waitresses & waiters do not receive 100 percent of the tips.
The combination of poor management, unclean facilities, & unsanitary practices makes this restaurant a place I cannot recommend for either employment or dining.View more
Great dumpling variety, flavor, & service. Would definitely come back & recommend to friends.View more
Great experience! The dumplings were delicious!! There were so many different flavors to choose from. Highly recommend the pickled cucumbers!!View more
We chose some dumplings that we knew we would enjoy & also went for the chef's surprise, which consisted of 15 dumplings in 5 different varieties. In my opinion, the dumplings from that were pretty hit or miss, so I recommend sticking to ones you know you'll like.View more
Undercut prices but food was not flavorful at all. The soup tasted weird & tasteless & dumplings felt stale. Would not recommend even if prices are cheap. Service is quick though.View more
We come more often in this restaurant we never disappoint they have a very good steam dumpling & fry dumplings . The steam one is juicy . The fry one is crisp we love both of them ! I found this place to be highly overrated. Their steam dumplings were super disappointing-the skin was of such low quality that they were worse than frozen dumplings. The skin should be soft & tender, but instead, it was dry & hard. I am sure that the dumplings are not handmade. I had high expectations based on the rave reviews, but I was deeply let down by the dumplings. Although the filling was better than the skin, it wasn't enough to redeem the dish. Interestingly, the cucumber dish that was served before the dumplings initially raised my expectations. However, if you have experience with authentic dumplings from Chinese or other Asian restaurants, you'll likely be disappointed with what's offered here. Sadly, I can't recommend this place-especially if you're seeking authentic flavors. I suggest finding another spot.View more
My husband & were visiting Montreal when we found this restaurant. We love eating in so much, we went back the next day for take away. The dumplings are flavorful & absolutely delicious. Highly highly highly recommend.View more
Great spot for dumplings (& the lamb dumplings were fantastic). My only complaint is that the plate for the cold peanut butter noodles (also delicious complemented with chili oil) was a little small for the amount of noodles which meant some splashed onto the table. Regardless, highly recommend this place.View more
Decent different from San Fran is o Chinese dim sum. Very inexpensive & a good recommend.View more
The dumplings were delicious & despite obviously being handmade contrary to a lot of places, the food came quickly. Good choice of vegetarian dumplings for once & I highly recommend the egg & spinach one!View more
Was not the biggest fan of dumplings. That being said, this is now one of my favorite spots in the city to eat. Great food & staff. Highly recommendView more

Fairly loud place even though the restaurant was not full, maybe people were just very loud while we were there...? Not the type of atmosphere that would make you want to hang around. The peanut butter dumplings were ok but a very small portion, not really appropriate for sharing unless you just want a bite to taste. We ordered 2 mixed baskets of 15 dumplings, the pork & green onions, the shrimp leek & egg were tasty but the chicken & corn were not good, the pork & pickled cabbage were average. Maybe others are tastier, but we could not know which ones. We tried to get advice from our server, but she was not too convincing on the popular ones to recommend... Definitely an inexpensive meal including tips: $42.94 It is ok for a quick bite, but there are other dumplings places in town which could possibly offer a better quality dumplingsView more
next to the very popular dumplings from Sammy, we found this place & in my opinion it's much tastier, I recommend visiting, especially since the place has really been around for many years. I took the "surprise", meaning that all your dumplings have different flavors & you don't know where which one is, I was happy as a cat, thank you very much, I'll come again🫶🏻☺️View more
Situated in the heart of the Montreal Chinatown, which is a 10-15 mins walk from the historic Montreal (ideal). We went on a weekend so there was a waiting line (we didn’t have to wait more than 10 mins as its a fast serving & moving restaurant). The fantastic thing is; you get 15 medium sized dumplings for an extremely reasonable price, which were yummy so an all round great place. We had the 1) shrimp, leek & egg dumplings & the 2) cabbage, vermicelli & mushroom dumplings, which were both great! The service was fast & friendly. Parking is available around the neighbourhood but wasn’t easy to find so recommend using the Metro, taxi, walking, etc. Great job! Can’t wait to revisit again!View more
Really good quality juicy dumpling. There are steamed dumplings & pan fried dumplings. I got pork & green onion Pan Fried. Amazing dumplings!....it's freshly cooked. I recommend this best dumplings spot in Montreal
We have been there multiple times because it is my favourite dumpling place. I highly recommend this place in Chinatown!!
Amazing Dumplings! Excellent dumplings! Would definitely recommend for all!
