About us

Located in Old Montreal since 2005, Porto Mar is the ideal spot for romantic dinners, business meetings, casual encounters, birthdays and other special events. Our restaurant is located in a beautiful historic building with a unique old world charm.

Our menu offers a variety of traditional Portuguese dishes as well as fresh fish, seafood, steak and a choice of grilled specialties. We also have many gluten free options. The extensive wine list has something for everyone with its large selection of Portuguese wines including many private imports at affordable prices.

C'était la 3ème fois que nous allions dans ce restaurant. Nous y avons à chaque fois très bien mangé, la nourriture est de qualité, la quantité, la présentation, tout est parfait.
Toutefois le service est particulièrement long, 1H20 avant d'avoir l'entrée, presque 3H00 en tout à table.

Excellent seafood, cooked to our request. Perfect, quiet tasteful ambience. Excellent service. Highly recommend for a relaxing dining experience a little away from the tourist haunts.

The food was delicious & well prepared (escargot were particularly good) & the waitress was very nice, but the main courses took a very long time to arrive & the restaurant wasn't that crowded. There was definitely a problem with the kitchen getting food out.

outstanding service, great food & reasonably priced. I had the cod which was superb & my husband a Portuguese pork dish which was also amazing. it was " date night" as we were going to Alegria following our meal. Great choice ! would go back any time we are in the Old Port !

Mon frère & moi étions de passage samedi soir au très sympatique restaurant Porto Mar. Le menu était vraiment appétissant alors je me suis laissée convaincre par les crevettes qui étaient absolument exquises. Le service était excellent, j'ai bien compris que notre serveuse était à l'écoute de nos besoins, bref nous avons passé quelques heures adorables à cette adresse. Au moment de partir, j'ai complètement oublié mon petit sac à main au dos de ma chaise? Il contenait toutes mes cartes de crédits, débits, de l'argent liquide ma clé de voiture à puce & autres... Quelle fût ma surprise d'être contacté par la conjointe du proprio qui a fait des pieds des mains pour me retrouver. Nous nous sommes donné rendez-vous le lendemain en après-midi, j'ai rencontré cette dame ainsi que le propriétaire de Porto Mar. Ils ont refusé tout dédommagement & m'ont rendu mon sac à main intact. Ils ont vraiment su m'éviter de gros tracas? C'est vraiment plaisant de croiser des gens honnête comme eux ! Une adresse à retenir & un sincère remerciement à Melanie Kanis & son conjoint le propriétaire du Porto Mar.
