Place Carmin est largement salue comme une destination culinaire francaise remarquable dans le Vieux Montreal, proposant des plats soigneusement elabores tels que la moelle osseuse, le canard a l orange, le tartare de veau, les coquilles Saint-Jacques dans une puree de pommes de terre, la tarte tatin au boudin et le Paris Brest, avec des cocktails et une carte des vins solide qui complètent l experience. L espace et le service sont souvent describes comme elegants, attentifs et professionnels, ce qui en fait un lieu adapte pour des diners intimes, des evenements privés et des brunchs, tandis que les avis mentionnent une ambiance allant du calme et raffinee a plus anime pour les groupes. Bien que beaucoup de commentaires celebrent la qualite, certains convives trouvent que certains plats ou portions peuvent etre inconsistants et quelques choix du menu ne repondent pas toujours aux attentes, avec des remarques occasionnelles sur le rapport qualite-prix ou le service en periode d affluence, mais l impression generale est que Place Carmin propose une experience incontournable et digne d une etoile, qui pousse les visiteurs a revenir.
This is one of my favourite places to recommend to people looking for fine French fare near the Old Port or Ville Marie areas of Montreal. The ambiance is lovely & the service is bar none but the starters are where the truly stand out. I highly recommend the sweetbreads with the gorgeous puff pastry topper & the blood pudding tatin is, for me, an absolute must. For the mains, my only suggestion is to avoid the hanger steak if you prefer yours rare/blue as they are pre-cooked sous-vide to a specific temp, then finished on the grill, which makes any cook under medium rare impossible. Otherwise, anything on the menu is sure to please. Be sure to add a side of their delicious mushrooms in persillade. Bon appetit!
First time eating here, surpassed my expectations. Honestly only booked here because all of our usual restaurants were booked up, was expecting a mediocre meal. But wow!!!! Easily a 9/10 dinner. We tried 4 of the little canapés, all delicious. The french onion soup, foie gras, & the duck orange were all excellent. Also tried 2 different cocktails, both super unique & delicious. In addition to the great food, service was friendly & super accommodating to our allergies. Will 10000% be returning, this place might have earned a spot in our regular rotation!!
Always a great choice. Outstanding food, great wine list & cocktails & consistant excellent service. Group, couple, or friends catch up at the bar, Place Carmin is great for all occasions. Beautiful terrace in the summe
Je trouve très dommage que vous vendiez certains vins à 3.32 fois le prix de la saq. C'est un peu exagéré. C'est une belle façon de ternir votre réputation.
Very nice venu for private events. The food was tasty. The service was on time, not too long, not too fast. I usually avoid any cauliflower plates cause they tend to be simple, but their cauliflower dish was very tasty & filling. All their food from the set menu was very good. The room we were in was spacious, private & had its own bathroom. Edit: they change the menu for group events, which is nice if you attend more than one event there
Tucked just a stone's throw from Montreal's vibrant city center, this restaurant comes with an enviable location & solid reputation, making it an attractive choice for dining. However, when our group of 20 gathered there to celebrate a birthday, the experience revealed both the restaurant's strengths & some significant shortcomings. Due to our large party size, we were seated in an upstairs room-functional, but undeniably lackluster. The space felt dated & underwhelming, hardly the setting one might hope for in a celebratory gathering. Downstairs, the ambiance was visibly more polished & sophisticated, but for the upstairs, it seemed the focus had been on capacity rather than charm. Perhaps with fewer guests, we would have enjoyed a more atmospheric space. But let's talk about the food-the one area where the evening truly shone. The dishes, particularly the beef cheeks & salmon tartare, were executed with finesse. Both were well-prepared, flavorful, & offered excellent quality given the price point. From a culinary perspective, the restaurant exceeded expectations. Yet, where the kitchen excelled, the service fell short. Despite genuine effort & an overall willingness to please, the waitstaff were clearly overwhelmed by our group size. The service was stretched too thin, leading to delays & lapses-bread missing from one table, items needing to be requested, etc. Though accommodating, the staff struggled to manage the two separate tables, leaving a noticeable gap in coordination & attentiveness. In sum, this restaurant delivered a strong culinary experience but stumbled in service execution. If you're considering it for a large group, it's worth confirming in advance how they handle sizable parties & whether they can provide the seamless experience you'd hope for on a special occasion. A few logistical improvements could easily elevate what was an enjoyable evening into something truly memorable.
Spacious restaurant, great food, nice staff✨. I had my birthday there with a group of 18 people including a kid, the tables was setup as two tables next to each other & one in a separate row but thanks to them🙏🏻as they managed to accommodate us well in one row finally. I Highly recommend this restaurant for small or large group.
