Afficher toutrecommend(27) dessert(21) french(21) steak(20) duck(19) dishes(18) beautiful(17) tartare(14) quality(14) drink(12) brunch(12) cocktail(12)I ordered an Amaro NOA but it was too sour to my liking but the food was very good. We ordered the bone marrow & it was really generous just like what I saw from other reviews. I have the duck for main dish. They smelled so good when they came & some of our parties ordered the flank steak & they said it was very very good. We pretty much cleaned up all the food. For desserts we have the Paris Brest & crepe sucette. Although the crêpes are served in a Parisienne style that they made a flame with the Grand Marnier, I still enjoyed so much more of the Paris Brest in hazelnut cream, not too sweet & it's just right.
It was Meh! The fries were super salty & overcooked.
The desserts were good though.
The food tastes good, but the amount of protein is ridiculously tiny, as is the desserts. The current trend of not raising prices any further (which have already increased a lot over the past five years) but instead reducing portion sizes-especially for meat, fish, & even desserts-is unpleasant.
got the steak, orange duck & gnocchi. it was pretty good. the desserts were also nice.
Trevor was a great server & the gin martini was on point. Food was delicious. Scallop ceviche, deviled eggs, leek puff pastry, & the cod are all great. Peach crepe for dessert. The facade of the restaurant is equally as beautiful as the interior.
Top quality food, service & ambiance. We ordered the deviled egg(image), salmon tartare (image), foie gras, scallop ceviche, & sea bream(image), finishing with the maple creme brulee for dessert. Absolutely fantastic, leaving us wanting more of each dish minus the sea bream which was an ample serving size. The wait staff was kind, informative, & welcoming. All for a respectable price. A place we will definitely return to on our next trip to Montreal.
I love this place, I went several times because everything is good from appetizer to main dish to dessert. So far my favourite crème brulée is at this place
Place Carmin is a hidden gem! From starters to dessert our food tasted amazing. There were so many thoughtful touches on each plate as well as being beautifully plated. The wait staff are super friendly & accommodating. We will definitely be back!! Thank you
Nestled in the alleys of old port is a hidden gem. Cozy setting & good soul food makes you craving their fancy yet subtle desserts. Highly recommended for brunch & dinner.
Posh branch near the old town. Very good service & food. Can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Wed did a 10:30 brunch / lunch, & it was quite good. First of all, staff is really friendly & helpful. Answered our questions / took our orders promptly. Drinks came in 1 minute. Menu is small, which is a good sign. & very reasonable. Dishes were tasty. We opted for Shrimp / avocado toast, & omelette. Price was reasonable. Around CAD 100 (50 per person) with lunch, drinks, dessert, etc.
We had a reservation at Bouillon Bilk(the great great french restaurent in Montreal) but in the morning they texted us that it went on fire unfortunately, & they offered 3 other similar restaurants that we could call & reserve in stead. We chose Place Carmin: A Nice terrace with cozy table & nice staff. But the meal wasn't exactly what i ordered. I ordered surf & turf , the waitress said it comes with lobster (in stead of shrimps), which it didn't. But that's not all. The suf part(which normally includes (3)grilled shrimps turned out to be teeny tiny tasteless cooked shrimps on a toast with some sauce. They were the size of small macaronis. It was a disappointment. The steak was a 6(out of 10), i couldn't feel the taste of it, cause it was submerged in a green sauce (it was like a plate of soup with a steak in it). But to be fair, the rose wine that the waitress suggested, was very good & matched the meals. & the dessert was ok. However I don't think am gonna go there again though.
This was a fantastic meal, thoroughly enjoyed the steak tartare, duck a lorange, & the mandarin/mint dessert is fabulous! Bravo!
I am usually bot the biggest fan of fancier places but this one was amazingly good. Every dish was excellent, & from someone that doesn't like sweet stuff, the desserts were just amazing. I thing every single one of them was the best version I ever had, I can't recommend the creme brulee enough, best one out of 100s I tried before (same for the paris brest).
We're kicking ourselves for not coming here sooner since we already knew Francois Nadon's other 2 gems: Bouillon Bilk, consistently one of the best restaurants in town, & his more casual place Cadet which serves equally inspired food at somewhat more modest prices. Place Carmin is more affordable again, in this case serving classic French bistro dishes with an unexpected level of refinement. It's all in the execution... I'm very curious about his onion soup (haven't had one for decades) but elected to start with a scallop ceviche that may be the best I've ever had. A hint of lemon & paper thin slices of a mildly spicy radish complemented the flavors & textures of the raw scallops perfectly. The dorade was a generous portion with nicely crispy skin. We had no room for dessert. The bill rose to $300 not including tip since we couldn't resist a superb Knoll gruner that accounted for half of it. Actually, the wine list is notable for having so many good choices under $100 & even under $80. This place is an easy recommendation for foodies & casual diners alike.
I came here for a party. The food was outstanding. I got the smoke salmon appetizer, the sea bream & cream caramel dessert. Everything was cooked & seasoned perfectly. I will definitely be returning to this location.
Chloe was one of the best waitresses we have experienced. She was knowledgable, friendly & confident. She provided us with spot-on advice on wine choice, main course & dessert. Samuel was an excellent manager, keeping a close eye on all details of the restaurant operation. We were very impressed with the excellent service & quality of food & will come back. Victoria & Paul.
