Osmo X Marusan comes across as a stylish, vibrant cafe in downtown Montreal with a lively vibe, strong coffee and a notable lineup of matcha and hojicha lattes, plus creative Japanese inspired sandwiches such as tamago sando and karaage sando and curry bowls; the space and terrace are great for studying or hanging out, and a casual DJ moment adds to the atmosphere, but the place is often crowded and loud with long waits for food at peak times, and some dishes or portions can feel small or uneven while service can be variable, yet the overall experience centers on the ambiance and drinks and many guests say they would return to try new items.
Maybe its because it was Friday afternoon but the music was too loud & the genre kept changing every music so it wasn't a great place to work on your laptop. But the matcha was delicious.
They had the best karaage that I've ever had in North America so far. It is so juicy, tender & well-seasoned, always comes in fresh. They not just put the starch outside, but also keep the chicken skin & fried them well, which is really nice!
I would also recommend their matcha latte & h?jicha latte. They taste great as well!
The only downside for their meals is it comes with a small portion, only 2-3 pieces of chicken is a bit not enough. & the curry itself tastes a bit normal. I also ordered the karaage sandwich version but their bread is a bit dry. But at the end, definitely a big fan of the karaage flavor.

Ordered boiled egg sandwich, & had a matcha latte for the first time here. The sandwich was excellent, not over seasoned or soggy-nice & simple. The matcha was rich but not too heavy. The barista was very concentrated & careful while making it. The space was thoughtfully designed & clean without feeling sterile. Great experience overall.
Osmo is a perfect vibey place to chill & study on a rainy day….. their matcha is the BEST in town & I love that it isn't clumpy & oversweet like other places in the city that serve matcha. Also everyone that works here is a beautiful angel…. I come here a lot & have never gleaned a bad vibe. Just perfection! They will make ur day😁💓💓💓
found this little spot in a TikTok video I was sent. pleasantly surprised! Kinda hard to find at first.
We had a matcha & a coffee, around 15-20$ for both. love the vibes, alot of students, & some good background music (music that was a little too loud?) other than that, no other gripes. just a cool place to visit if you want to see something different in Montreal :)
Absolutely loved my experience at OSMO X MARUSAN!! A friend & I visited MTL for a few days & had breakfast twice at this cafe. We got the matcha latte (hot & cold) & both were great. We tried two breakfast sandos: the tamago (8/10) & the katsu (9/10). There was a bit of a line up & waited after ordering but the atmosphere was great & staff were very kind so the wait was not bad. I would definitely make another visit during my next trip to MTL!
Malgré le décor mignon & la nourriture bonne (nous avons essayé des cafés, matchas, tamago sando & karaage sando), nous avons vraiment eu un service vraiment désolant qui nous a donné une expérience négative au total. Lors d'une erreur faite par le staff (matcha chaud au lieu de glacé, matcha sans sirop au lieu de matcha érable), nous nous sommes faites blâmées pour cette erreur & on s'est fait addressées vraiment bêtement, de manière borderline passive-aggressive & impolie même si on a mentionné l'erreur gentiment. Même plus tard, on s'est faites servir avec attitude & & on s'est faites dévisager lorsque l'on a demandé pour une boîte à emporter. C'est réelleement dommage de se faire servir ainsi quand on paye à l'avant & on donne un pourboire même avant d'évaluer la qualité du service. Je travaille en restauration & jamais je traiterais des clients de la sorte, qu'il s'agisse de leur erreur ou de la mienne.

Exceptional cafe with a one of a kind space. Everything feels expertly curated, plenty of seating inside & a wonderful private terrace if you'd like a little sun. The matcha was flavourful & clean & bright with a subtle contrasting astringency at the end. The hojicha was similar with a delicate chocolatey earthiness. I would visit again anytime I find myself in the neighbourhood. Bravo.

Le café est extrêmement bruyant, nous avons attendu 15 minutes pour des boissons. Nous avons pris deux matcha cérémonie, & plutôt décevant, pour un matcha de cérémonie, on ne sent pas la qualité du produit, & en plus de cela, il y a du sucre à la préparation, ce qui gâche un peu le goût du matcha.. c'est dommage

The cold brew & matcha latte are both delicious drink for a summer day.
Quickly served, nice casual laidback ambiance & the food was delicious. Went with the classic tamago sandwich & a matcha latte. Recommend & will go again
The café has a really cozy & inviting atmosphere, but it's not particularly suited for families with young kids. It feels more like a hangout spot for teenagers to socialize or meet new friends.
I tried the matcha latte - it was decent, though I personally prefer a stronger, slightly bitter matcha flavor. For lunch, I ordered the fried egg sandwich & the pork chop curry rice. The sandwich was nicely seasoned & quite enjoyable. The pork chop, while tasty, wasn't the traditional Japanese-style breaded version - it lacked the crispy panko coating you'd expect from a tonkatsu. That said, the curry sauce was very flavorful & well done.
Overall, the food was good, but the portion sizes were a bit small for my appetite.
