Review Summary

OPLANTE Sushi Wok Végétalien draws praise for flavorful, inventive vegan sushi and a wide variety of dishes, with many visitors calling it a go-to spot for plant-based Asian fare and noting that the all you can eat option offers good value and a chance to try many items. The food is often described as delicious and satisfying, with standout rolls and occasionally surprising vegan tempura, and some reviewers appreciate the ability to share vegan sushi with nonvegan family members. Experiences with service and logistics vary widely: some visits are quick, friendly, and well organized, while others report slow or inattentive service, confusion around ordering, missing dishes, and long waits, especially when the restaurant is busy, and a few reviews mention a robot server used to shuttle plates. Ambience ranges from comfortable and spacious to a basement vibe described as gloomy or lacking warmth, with cleanliness occasionally criticized in a few reviews. Price perceptions also differ: some find the value excellent, particularly on all you can eat, while others feel certain days or menu items are pricey or inconsistent with expectations. Overall, OPLANTE remains a popular choice for vegan sushi in Montreal according to many reviews, though potential diners should be aware of possible service fluctuations, stock variations, and occasional reliability issues.

Really delicious all you can eat for $35+ tax!! Truly yummy food, endless options for everyone's tastes. My non vegan friends loved it too. Highly recommend! For a casual dinner, or a date, or even a birthday or occasion.

This restaurant is the best restaurant I have ever been to! It is always a joy going to an all-vegan restaurant & not having to search the menu for options. Everytime I visit Canada, I make going here part of my trip at least twice! The unlimited'buffet' option is the best. My partner & I have been through most of the menu & nothing has been disappointing. To make the experience even better, there is a cute & helpful robot to bring your food from the kitchen to the dining room. Always an amazing experience, & always amazing food. (Go ahead, order one of everything with 1 friend-then, maybe order seconds!)

My mom & I got to the restaurant later than we needed to get there. We literally had about 40 mins to order our food, eat, pay & leave. It was strange there was only one server with it being busy on a Sunday evening but thankfully she was super sweet & when I explained our situation, our food came out quick & we were able to head out on time. We LOVED the food. We ordered a roll (can't remember which one now) but it was very tasty. The tempura shrimp app was delicious & we couldn't believe it was vegan! The robot server they had to help out was something I've never seen before so that provided some fun entertainment;) I would love to go back & try more dishes. So lovely to be able to eat vegan sushi at a fully vegan restaurant!

Great vegan restaurant. The all you-can-eat buffet is great & the portion size is perfect (not too big) so that you can try everything from the menu. The food is delicious & there's so many options to choose from. Love it.

Oplante never disappoints-hands down the best vegan sushi in Montreal! Their rolls are super creative, fresh, & packed with flavor. Whether it's a quick lunch or a cozy dinner, everything always hits the spot.

Plus, they often have great deals on Uber Eats, which makes it even better. A go-to spot for plant-based sushi lovers!

Absolutely the best value for Asian inspired vegan meals in Montreal. The food textures & flavors are highly appealing.

The Vegan sushi platter was good. However, extremely disappointed with the service. No one turns up to the table after taking the order. There is only 1 person in the whole restaurant who takes the order.

This was a real disappointment. I was very excited to try an all you can eat restaurant, but what a disappointment. Unfortunately, I won't be back & cannot recommend.

FOOD
All the food that is meant to be served hot was cold or room temp. We ordered two rounds & it was the same for both. Additionally, i ordered a spicy salmon sushi & it was not spicy at all. My boyfriend said the mock chicken tao was aweful. A lot of the items had too much sauce. The sushi were very average, not sure why some comments say they are the best sushi in town. Sushi momo, ohana & bloom are so much better, it doesn't even compare. The only thing I liked was the sauteed veggies even if they were room temp. I hope we don't get sick. Not sure if food has been sitting out or was not reheated properly.

TERRIBLE MENU
The menu was scanned, which is fine, but there was no description of the foods, just names. Therefore, when it came to sushi, you had no idea what was in it. Additionally, some items were marked SG which I assume means sans gluten (gluten-free in English), but the item would be marked gluten-free in the english menu, but not french menu. Plus, I asked the waitress if it meant gluten-free, & she had no idea what it meant

GLUTEN-FREE OPTIONS VERY LIMITED
We were 5 & I was the only gluten-free free one. I had called to see about the options, & she did mention it was limited, but some things are possible. When we got there & I scanned the menu, & since it was unclear what I could eat, I asked the waitress to tell me what's gluten-free. She mentioned that all sushi could be made without tempura to make them gluten-free, but that in the wok items, the only thing was sauteed veggies. I kept asking her to verify for other items marked SG & turns out some were gluten-free & others not. So we order & then she comes back to inform me that 3 of the sushis are not gluten-free afterall which were all the most interesting ones. I new my options wouldn't be awesome. But I still went for the rest of the group, but honestly it's not a good choice for gluten-free.

SERVICE
The service was quick which was nice. There was a robot bringing the plates which was funny for my daughter, but the robot did make a lot of noise on the tile floor. The waitress were not knowledgeable on the menu for gluten-free & kept needing to ask & didn't seem confident. They were polite though & quick to come when we signaled. We had to find & get the high chair ourselves. The booster was broken. Waitresses never proposed it.

ENVIRONMENT/AMBIANCE
Not the best, it felt quite cheap. Lacked decor. Cheap chairs, no place to hang coats. Plastic water jugs. Plastic soy sauce plates. Wooden disposable chopsticks & not cutlery. Had to go get forks ourselves. The one nice thing was that it was spaceous.

PRICE/PAYMENT
It was 37$ for all you can eat. Obviously, all you can eat is never the best ingredients. A lot of fried food, rice, & noodles to stuff you. I think the price is ok if it had better food. We have the mon quebec vegane card for discounts & when I asked her if they participated she said she didn't know. I looked it up & found the 10% discount & showed my card. She then applied it, but again lack of knowledge.

Vegan sushi are nice for vegetarians or people with allergies or pregnant women. The food is tasty & the employees suggest what type of sauce to use with different types of sushi, this is appreciated.

I ordered from them because they also have vegan bubble tea. Okinawa: brown sugar milk tea with grass jelly & tapioca. Made with oat milk, it wasn't sweetened. I appreciate that it wasn't loaded with sugar. Pressed sushi: portobelo, jalapeno, avocado, assorted nuts, black pepper, radish, miso emulsion. It was so spicy because of the jalapeno slices! Pistachio maki: pistachio, shiitake mushroom, cucumber, avocado, green salad, vegan mozzarella, vegan tamago, asparagus, vegan kani. Although, I'm not a fan of the imitation food (kani, tamago). I prefer pickled ginger that doesn't have the pink dye. The order comes with a sweetened soy sauce.

Update Oct 2024 The only issue with OPLANTE "all you can eat" is the dessert. There is a single option, & ice cream even not included (as it's not began, per what they say). Personally I don't even like the look of the dessert (see picture). Other than that, the dishes are generous, the service is fine, & the robot is still with them. While at your table - scanning the menu to your phone, & you're good to go. Price of $35 for dinner is OK. --- Even though all item are vegan, you can't really tell the difference. Everything is like the real thing, & is tasty. Service is OK. The gimmick is a robot which brings over some of the dishes from the kitchen to the center of the restaurant (not to the tables). Some dishes, like the soup are not brought by the robot. I think that the robot name is Bella, since when sent it back to the kitchen, its caption says "Bella go home". The two things which make my visit les optimal are: 1) the desserts. Only one item! I find this unacceptable for an all your can eat menu. When I asked about it, they offer me an ice cream as well. When I order it, they told me that they no more have it. This made my first impression a bad one. 2) Somewhat pricy. There are no lunch hour, so you must pay for a dinner, which is around $35, before taxes. They are not open daily. When they do it opened at 4:30 PM. 3) They does not seem to care about responding to emails & reviews.
