Review Summary

OCHA offers mochi donuts with a soft, chewy texture in flavors like matcha, strawberry, biscoff, ube and Nutella, and reviews often describe them as delicious and visually appealing, though some say the flavors taste similar and the sweetness can be overpowering. The menu also includes bubble tea, egg sandwiches and sando options, with many praising the drinks and the donuts, while a few note price concerns and a lack of flavor balance in certain batches. Service and atmosphere receive mixed feedback, ranging from friendly and welcoming to cold or rude, and cleanliness is occasionally mentioned as an area for improvement. The place is regarded as a solid local stop for dessert or a casual bite, helped by its central location and aesthetic, along with rotating specials and weekday deals. Overall, OCHA is valued for its donuts and novelty, but reviewers point to inconsistent service and pricing along with occasional flavor balance issues that can affect repeat visits.

3 stars - a solid choice

I tried a matcha with strawberry, & a box of six donuts.

The donuts have a cute shape & are easy to share, regular donut dough. The sweetness comes from the toppings they put on. Edit: after eating them all, I think they all taste pretty similar if not the same

The matcha itself just tasted like sweet milk, there wasn't much matcha flavour.

I've been curious about this place so I made a trek to visit, but it's just normal level of good. I wouldn't visit from out of town or even from outside of downtown necessarily, but it's good if you work/live/go to school nearby

Tried out OCHA on a weekend evening. They do BBT, mochi donuts (9 flavours), egg sandwiches & soft serve. $5.00 rotating daily weekday specials along with three $3.99 drink specials.

- Hojicha latte ($3.99) - subbed for oat milk ($1.00 extra). Good, strong hojicha flavour
- Matcha fraise mochi donut ($3.99) - legit matcha flavour. Good mochi texture

The ube coconut mochi donut was sooooo sweet. Had barely any ube flavour. Needs to tone down the sweetness by at least half. The chewy texture was nice but it didn't taste all that fresh.

Tried the uber coconut mochi donut. The texture was really good but the flavour was lacking as it just tasted sweet & nothing else. Wouldn't go back.

came to try their new eggs sandos & omg SO GOOD. buttery n soft n fluffy its like perfect. i would skip on the chicken & just get the egg royal tho, cuz the chicken felt a lil out of place like flavour wise even tho it was still good. & their mochi donuts are sooo soft & chewy too i love them as well.

We got to try OCHA's Donuts for the first time on their Free Donut Day, as we loved the concept of mochi donuts & were excited to try them out. I had the Strawberry mochi donut, & I'd recommend it, it was perfectly light & sweet. Others in my group tried the Matcha & Biscoff donuts, both of which were good, just not as flavourful as they were expecting, unfortunately. What was very flavourful, one could say too much so, was their Yuzu Honey Tea, which we got hot. It was somehow both too sweet & too sour at the same time, & every sip just intensified the flavours rather than mellowing out.

mochi donuts have to be the most ridiculously overrated pastry goods bandwagon i have had the displeasure of witnessing in a very long time. There is literally less substance in the donut than a regular donut, hell, even a donut hole, & it demands a higher price than it too. I initially thought it was some sort of actual mochi + donut concoction, which explains the strange bubbled donut ring that they took shape, but no, it is just air. It's like an air donut. It's like if lays chips made donuts, they would make this. there is so much empty volume inside the donut it is insane. I get the whole'texture' thing, but it's not even all that. Theres so much more pleasure to be derived from a full & wholly dedicated donut. its not even a healthy snack anyways so just go the whole way, why cheapskate yourself out on one of life's greatest sweet treats. i tried the strawberry & Nutella one, & they were just okay. If I had the same flavour on a proper donut, I would have been way more satisfied. apart from all that, the service was good though, & the cafe itself is quite cute & cozy

We came here on the promotion day to try out their Mochi Doughnuts & we got the chance to try the matcha crème brulée & the Biscoff cookie flavoured ones. Both tasted amazing & the drinks are also really good they have a variety of choices! Staff is very nice & welcoming, parking is very hard because it's in the middle of Downtown Montréal ! It's also located near metro Guy Concordia!

Lovely environment, love the matcha & the ube flavoured mochi. I personally think that the cinnamon & the Nutella flavoured mochi isn't as good as it used to be.
