My favourite Laurentian restaurant! The food was incredible, service impeccable, wine cave truly an engaging experience.
Can't wait to go next season, although I could eat those Brussels Sprouts every day of my life.
We loved our dinner at Nena's. Everything was delicious & the service amazing. The best part was the wine cava on the basement where we could taste & choose our wines. Definitely coming back!
Love this place! Tasty food & we love Phil's wine cave :) Amazing service by Frank & the whole team!!!
Loved every dish. We sat by the cozy fireplace & loved sampling the wines in the cellar before choosing.
My wife & were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary & Nena did not disappoint! The menu options were extensive, but we chose to go surf & turf & selected the sea-bass & skirt steak. the sea bass was the best we ever had. perfectly grilled & dressed with a well seasoned (& spicey) salsa that kept you wanting for more.
As for the skirt steak, grilled to perfection medium rare needing nothing more than a a butter knife to cut but melted in your mouth.
The Patatas Brava & grilled zucchini rounded everything off to a perfect meal.
Once we decided on the menu, we selected our wine with the help of a sommelier & a very impressive wine cellar. We found a beautiful pairing that hit spot on!
Thank you to the young inspiring chefs that made a wonderful impression our our first, & certainly not our last visit!
This restaurant is a must try in Sauveur. I have been multiple times & seeing Phillipe in the Cave a Vin is such a treat. He will pair your wine with any dish & makes the meal a memorable occasion. So happy to have found this place!
Where do I start. Our servers were Frank & Mikael. They were great, very attentive to our needs & explained to us how to order. The food was incredible. Hats off to the chefs. What I really enjoyed was that you go down to the wine cellar & pick your own wine. Great selection. The sommelier was not there but there was a chart of what each type of wine tastes like. There was 4 of us 2 adults & 2 children. Love this place. We will definitely go back there.
From the warm welcome of the staff to that beautiful dining experience my tastebuds were claiming for more.
The young chef (owner) & his assistant prepare every plate with so much flavour, even if the restaurant is a tapas formula every plate is generously abundant (easy to share) won't leave you on your appetite & for wine amateur they have a huge choice of mostly all private imports.
The 3 of us really enjoyed everything that we've ordered, from the oyster accompanied with a green apple mignonette, sea food plater, the steak (onglet), the steak tartare, the asparagus & the wild mushroom plate everything was delicious & served generously, let's not forget the home made pastel de nata for dessert.
I have to say that nena - tapas & pintxo in St-Sauveur is one of the finest dining experience I ever had & I highly recommended it.
Can't wait to go back.
I went here on my birthday. No reservation. No coupons. I haven't even heard of this place, nor have I ever been here, & what happened was nothing short of miracle. My wife & daughter got the chef specialty where they bring out dish after dish after dish. I was marvelous. The fish, lamb, vegetables, fruit, gnocchi. The wine cave they have downstairs. We must have tried about five wines before selecting the one we wanted. The chefs came out after & sang happy birthday - such a nice people. This is a must go type of place.
Wow! What a wonderful experience. The food was outstanding, the staff were all friendly & you can tell they were having fun doing their job.
The cellar experience is unique & great choice of wines.
Our server was Frank & he was so attentive & helpful.
A must try: the Rockerfella Oysters
Thanks to the owner that also made us feel welcome 😊
Only great things to say really!
Wow! Hands down the best restaurant in St Sauveur! Went for an evening out with friends & enjoyed a great variety of dishes. We ordered several to share, including seafood combo, brussel sprouts, bok choy, mushrooms, portuguese chicken & duck magret. Every dish we ordered was just divine, perfectly cooked & bursting with flavours. The sommelier was so enjoyable as he allowed us several tastings & explained the different wines, with a nice variety of wines for any budget. Nena is a gem, such a delight to meet her, & all of the staff were friendly & helpful. We spent the evening here (a full 4 hours!) & were so impressed with everything from the beginning to the end. I can't wait come back!
Love this place. Please try the appetizer fish plate. OMG. So good. Food is excellent. Rapini made italian style. The lamb chops cooked to perfection. The wine choices are amazing. Philip, the sommelier is very knowledgeable. I give it a 10 on 10.
A must try. Great food, friendly staff. You gotta go to the wine cellar downstairs & pick your bottle of wine.
Absolutely phenomenal. The food is literally perfectly cooked. Everything from the vegetables to the various seafood & meats are cooked to perfection. I don't think I've ever had shrimp & scallops so perfectly cooked. The personalised wine cellar sommelier experience is unique & adds to the experience. Is it pricier? Yes. Is it more Jan worth every dollar? Also yes. I didn't take any pictures because it all disappeared too quickly. Sorry not sorry.
I want to preface this review by saying the owner Nena is super kind & welcoming. She has a great concept on her hands with the homey vibe, promising menu & onsite sommelier. What could be improved: The name Tapas & Pintxo. A tapas is a small plate to share & a pintxo is a small bite usually paired with a glass of wine, typical of the spanish basque coast. What I live about this formula is that you can have a smaller appetite & still taste lots of dishes. I never saw Pintxos served in Canada & was excited to finally find the elusive place. To my slight disappointment, this restaurant really serves'north american' size main dishes that you can share. No tapas in the traditional sense nor pintxos. The salt level: It might have been the chef that day, but the food was too salty to the point where the salt was overpowering the otherwise good flavour of the dish. My feedback: you can always add salt after, but you can't take it away once it's there. The patatas bravas: this restaurant serves a reinvented version of the classic. I appreciate the risk taking, but it did not pay off in this instance. Either stick to the classic recipe or call the dish something else. Although too salty, it was otherwise good, just not what I expected The oysters: Average, but for 5$ a piece, I expected more. I have had better oysters at 2$ a piece with more elaborated accompaniments. The tuna tataki: Quite good, but a bit overpowered by the sauce & salt. The sommelier experience: Great concept, the only downside is, as you go down the stairs to the cellar, the bathrooms are right to your left before you make a right to the cellar. You could definitely smell the bathrooms. I like the concept, but in practice, I would prefer the sommelier to come to our table & recommend a pairing. Atmosphere: cozy, family friendly, quite loud as a result. Not the best spot for a romantic date or for having a conversation, but good for causal evening either way friends & family Overall, this place has potential. I'm judging the food a bit harshly because of the price it commends, but then again everything is expensive in St Sauveur & Covid has not made things easy for restaurant owners. My closing advice: Keep prices the same, make portions smaller (actual tapas), increase the quality of raw materials. The cherry on top would be to serve actual pintxos with wine pairing. In the meantime, my search for pintxos in Canada continues...
The wine cellar was an eye-opening experience with Mr. Dodd. The food was delicious, from the entrées to dessert. Must try!
We came here for a nightcap our first night in town & loved it so much that we made a reservation for dinner the next night before leaving! The staff & owners are WONDERFUL folks & everyone looks like they're having a great time as well. Everyone was friendly, the wine selection is staggering & the young man who runs the bar made me a series of fabulous drinks based on basically one or two types or alcohol & a vibe. We will be coming back here at every opportunity!!
Went with my family to share tapas & wine - everything was wonderful, the owner greeted us as we arrived with a warm smile & handshake. The staff was very welcoming & warm. Wine & food were top notch. We will absolutely be returning.
