We were unfortunately at a high top table with very uncomfortable stools that were slightly too short for the table. The atmosphere was okay, every table on the terrace was full. After sitting, we waited over 15 min for our server to finally show up, & this was after my husband finally got his attention. *Note: our table was next to the servers' entrance to the kitchen area, we were visible to every server.* He arrived, no apology, no warm greeting, just took our order & left. That was the last we saw of him the entire time. He did not deliver the food, nor did he ever check if we wanted to get a new drink, nor did he ask how the meal was. He also never gave us our bill. Again we waited, obviously finished eating, for 15-20 min before a lady came over to clear our dishes. At that time, my husband said we had been waiting for a long time for our server to come give us our bill. He never did, but she did. Now, the food: I ordered a chicken strips meal. It was almost $20. I expected full sized (large) strips. I got 3 strips that were slightly longer & thicker than a human finger. None of my party ate their whole meal, as it was just "okay" at best. Would not recommend this place at all.
Jenna (our server) made the entire dining experience surreal. She was very attentive, friendly, & answered any questions we had regarding the menu. The food & atmosphere here was unreal. Definitely be back! Thanks for everything.
Without a doubt, the best poutine in the Old Port. The fries are never soft. My favorite is the Italian Poutine, which comes with ground beef on top & is delicious. They don't serve tap water there because the pipes are old, so take advantage & order another drink. If you go inside, upstairs, you have a beautiful view of Rue St. Paul. However, the stairs are old & the steps are short. I don't recommend it for people with mobility issues. The downstairs is nice & quite pleasant, but I don't know if it's open in the winter. I've only been there in the summer (it was wonderful). The poutines are one of the best in the area (around $17.50). I recommend it!
Food here is okay. I had puttin & burger. Fries were a bit oily & too cooked. Burger ok.
Extremely unpleasant experience. I came here with 3 friends & we were seated at a small table. My friend & I are very tall people 6foot & 6foot 3 & were extremely uncomfortable at the table. We all felt very crammed like we couldn't move. We end up moving to a table next to ours with more space. Later the hostess comes & informs us we can't move tables- mind you THERE ARE MULTIPLE FREE TABLES. I tell her that we can barely fit at that table & it's ruining our experience & she said that tables with more seats need to be left if a bigger group of people come. I'd understand if the restaurant was slammed but I don't think a surge of people were coming & it's also a poutine establishment u don't spend more than an hour there anyways. We were then moved to a high top where the air conditioning was dripping on me (it was hot & I know it's out of there control but u probably shouldn't have a table there then) & also our table was so dirty - wasn't wiped down at all. It was disgusting. The poutine here is good but there are equally good places on every corner of Montreal. Also as time went on there were more tables available & we could've comfortable sat at a bigger table with no issues lol
The food was great, but the overall experience was disappointing. We ordered two poutines, which totaled $50 (a steep price for what is essentially a plate of fries). Because of this, we decided not to leave a tip, but the server became visibly upset & left in a huff (didn't even say bye). We understand the importance of tipping, but after spending $50 on fries, their reaction was excessive & out of place!! It's unfortunate because the food was good, but the service left us feeling unwelcome & uncomfortable.
NO TAP WATER served, shame on the owners, this is supposed to be a family restaurant, not a high end bar I should have read the reviews carefully, I didn't think poutine would be at risk of tasting bland or a shop specializing in it would turn out a poor version. FRIED onions apparently means wet onions as per my picture. The Montreal smoked meat sandwich looked pathetic, I could put out a better version getting my ingredients from Safeway in BC... I'd be okay with all this if the prices were cheap but they're definitely not especially when it's $4 for a 500ml of Esker water.
Quick stop for drinks. Great cocktails, very friendly waitress, & nice indoor terrace.
First order of business when in Montreal. Because it's pouring & there's no line here, & it's poutine. To our surprise, the food came out delicious & full of flavors (not sure why the rating is low). Service was quick & the servers were very helpful with their recommendations & friendly. We ordered two: smoked meat sandwich which has the right amount of seasonings & saltiness & fried chicken poutine. They're both yum & delicious!
Crispy fries, rich gravy, & gooey cheese curds are a match made in heaven. Friendly staff & a laid-back atmosphere make it a must-visit for poutine lovers.
Got the 2 hotdogs with poutine & coleslaw l. The hotdogs weren't anything special (though they were good), however the fries for the poutine were cooked to perfection. Would recommend to stop by if you're in Montreal
Sat outside was a bit hot that day but it ended up cooling down as there isn't a lot of a breeze in the courtyard so be forewarned However the drinks are delicious, the smoked meat poutine is something I would highly recommend it is quite salty because of all the salty things that are a part of it but I devoured it Staff was friendly & very helpful & I'd definitely go back
In a lively neighboirhood, sitting in their outside patio is a great choice, it's beautiful & tucked away from the street. Smoked meat sandwich is great tasting but smaller than what you would expect. Fries are nice & crispy. Service was a bit strange, had to request napkins, cutlery, etc, one would assume that would just be set up for us at the table.
Ok experience, no more. There's a terrace to enjoy food outside however we weren't able to enjoy it because the staff didn't agree to move tables together for a group of 5. We ate inside on the 2nd floor & it was ok to move the tables together over there. The service was slow. They have a few poutines available & I was pleasantly surprised by the fried chicken one. Unfortunately, they do not offer glasses of water. They offer bottles of water for 4$ & I refuse to support the bottles water economy where potable/drinking water is available. The bathroom weren't gross but they would've benefited from cleaning & emptying the bins. It felt like they were understaffed even though it wasn't particularly busy. I was glad that there was no line up for a place in a tourist area.
The Poutine gravy is good, but the fries are little bit over cook, you can taste bitter, quite disappointed because they label themselves first in poutine. Hot dog is normal, not bad!! Service are good, environment is classic!! There is a very funny thing is the air conditioning system hanging on the second floor wall outside keep making very noisy sound & shaking like going to drop down immediately, hahaha.
By sheer coincidence, we stumbled upon this poutine restaurant (which also serves alcohol). While wandering in Old Montreal, we decided to take a break here. We ordered two beers & a poutine to share, & it was absolutely delicious! The fries, coated in gravy, remained crispy, & combined with the cheese curds, it was divine. The service was also excellent; everyone was prompt & friendly. I believe they deserve even higher praise for their food & service. However, the beer prices might be a tad high, but still manageable. I'll definitely come back next time I'm in Montreal.
The poutine I got was good fries were a bit cold but was good. Amazing customer service
Beautiful place to have your first poutine experience. Not many gluten-free options, but our waitress was beyond kind & suggested their fried onion poutine without gravy, & we were incredibly satisfied! Creative, caring, & delicious. Oh, & amazing locally brewed beer! Will return!
Enjoyed a classic poutine in the evening - the fries & cheese were delightful. The side aisle tables offered pleasant outdoor views adorned with hanging money plants. The ambient lighting added to the overall experience.
