Tried the poutine which was good. The sauce was excellent. Fries were ok. But overall one of the better poutines I have had in the city. Also tried the smoke meat platter. Smoke meat was ok. Nothing special. I think what bothered us the most is the WATERED DOWN sangria. $35 for pitcher that has so little actual alcohol. Made it feel like a tourist trap & we live in Montreal. We wouldn't go back.
Service was efficient. Tables are soooo small for 4 people it's ridiculous. Not comfortable to sit, eat & enjoy.
Best place to eat, drink & socialize in Montreal! I couldn't find a negative thing about Montreal Poutine even if I tried! The ambience, the space/decoration, the fast service & the food quality are unparalleled! The staff is amazing! Friendly but discreet, they're at your disposal whenever you need them! They made a great experience even more memorable! We'll definitely make it our « go to » place !
Poutine was not good (fries were cold, gravy was unseasoned) & the service was terrible. We had to ask for water three times. We were never checked on during our meal, literally had to keep flagging down the hostess to come to our table & find our waiter. Way overpriced for the quality of the food - Modavie is down the street & has much better poutine for half the price!
Very tasty poutine. Extremely friendly service. Tasty peach juice & sangria. Loved it. Amazing vibe. Great to sit & observe people from the window on rue St. Paul.
This is the spot right here! I cannot travel to Montréal without a visit to Montréal Poutine. This was my first time visiting my fav poutine spot in Montreal during the winter season. We sat upstairs & loved it. This spot provides such a welcoming energy with wonderful staff & some good music. The music's on point as it brings you back to what some of us would consider back-in-the-day tunes from - Cindy Lauper, Boy George, George Michael (RIP), Prince (RIP), Duran Duran, & Madonna, to name a few. The ones you just find yourself singing along to. Our entire table sang a couple of times - I caught them! 😂 . My partner ordered a hot dog with his poutine one, of my friends ordered a burger, & the rest of us ordered different poutines. No one was disappointed- yessss! The worst is when you big up a restaurant & your peeps are like, next! That is not the case here at Montréal Poutine because the food is on point! Best poutine in Montréal, in my humble opinion. This visit on March 5th was great, & our server (the young man who had the Jordan's on) was lovely - you would swear we knew him. But nah, just a nice human. If you have the chance to visit, please do. The vibe in the summer is even better!!! Something special about this space. If you don't believe me, make space & time for a visit! Thanks Montréal Poutine for existing. Can't wait to visit Montréal in the summer just so I can get me some smoked meat poutine! P.s. sitting down is a must because it's a vibe. In fact, a complete vibe. Go head with your ongoing yumminess Montréal Poutine! & see you soon. A customer from out of town that bigs you up on a regular!
Jena has changed my life for the better. Best poutine in this life & the after. I dream of Jena's fried chicken poutine
This is charming restaurant in a busy tourist area. The drinks were delicious & so was the smoked meat poutine. The waitstaff were friendly & service was quick. We found it to be a very satisfying experience.
Very quick, friendly, & attentive staff! The search is over. This is THE poutine spot
We stumbled upon this gem along our walk today in the old port. The portions are massive. We are a bit of poutine snobs & this poutine is top!! The fries are perfectly crispy & the cheese is fresh. Portions are massive & price is reasonable. The smoked meat sandwich was also delish! A great spot for a quick bite without breaking the bank.
We dined at Montréal poutine & enjoyed our food & experience very much! The poutine was delicious & so was the garden salad with grilled chicken. The waitstaff was very friendly!
Friendly staff, amazing food , very good sized portions & it came out very quickly !
Wanted to try a poutine before we had to go back home & this looked like a great spot to try out. The staff was friendly & accommodating. We had a nice table by the window & watched people walking by. The hot dog was tiny but perfect for a little snack, enjoyed the poutine & the chicken tenders were nicely done.
Had a great time at Montreal poutine with our server Antoine! He was very funny, friendly & accommodating! Our food took long because of a mixup & he came & apologized & shared a great laugh with us! Made the wait go smoothly. Thank you!!
The hostess was very friendly & seated my family right away. We were unfortunately at a high top table with very uncomfortable stools that were slightly too short for the table. The atmosphere was okay, every table on the terrace was full. After sitting, we waited over 15 min for our server to finally show up, & this was after my husband finally got his attention. *Note: our table was next to the servers' entrance to the kitchen area, we were visible to every server.* He arrived, no apology, no warm greeting, just took our order & left. That was the last we saw of him the entire time. He did not deliver the food, nor did he ever check if we wanted to get a new drink, nor did he ask how the meal was. He also never gave us our bill. Again we waited, obviously finished eating, for 15-20 min before a lady came over to clear our dishes. At that time, my husband said we had been waiting for a long time for our server to come give us our bill. He never did, but she did. Now, the food: I ordered a chicken strips meal. It was almost $20. I expected full sized (large) strips. I got 3 strips that were slightly longer & thicker than a human finger. None of my party ate their whole meal, as it was just "okay" at best. Would not recommend this place at all.
Jenna (our server) made the entire dining experience surreal. She was very attentive, friendly, & answered any questions we had regarding the menu. The food & atmosphere here was unreal. Definitely be back! Thanks for everything.
Without a doubt, the best poutine in the Old Port. The fries are never soft. My favorite is the Italian Poutine, which comes with ground beef on top & is delicious. They don't serve tap water there because the pipes are old, so take advantage & order another drink. If you go inside, upstairs, you have a beautiful view of Rue St. Paul. However, the stairs are old & the steps are short. I don't recommend it for people with mobility issues. The downstairs is nice & quite pleasant, but I don't know if it's open in the winter. I've only been there in the summer (it was wonderful). The poutines are one of the best in the area (around $17.50). I recommend it!
Food here is okay. I had puttin & burger. Fries were a bit oily & too cooked. Burger ok.
Extremely unpleasant experience. I came here with 3 friends & we were seated at a small table. My friend & I are very tall people 6foot & 6foot 3 & were extremely uncomfortable at the table. We all felt very crammed like we couldn't move. We end up moving to a table next to ours with more space. Later the hostess comes & informs us we can't move tables- mind you THERE ARE MULTIPLE FREE TABLES. I tell her that we can barely fit at that table & it's ruining our experience & she said that tables with more seats need to be left if a bigger group of people come. I'd understand if the restaurant was slammed but I don't think a surge of people were coming & it's also a poutine establishment u don't spend more than an hour there anyways. We were then moved to a high top where the air conditioning was dripping on me (it was hot & I know it's out of there control but u probably shouldn't have a table there then) & also our table was so dirty - wasn't wiped down at all. It was disgusting. The poutine here is good but there are equally good places on every corner of Montreal. Also as time went on there were more tables available & we could've comfortable sat at a bigger table with no issues lol
The food was great, but the overall experience was disappointing. We ordered two poutines, which totaled $50 (a steep price for what is essentially a plate of fries). Because of this, we decided not to leave a tip, but the server became visibly upset & left in a huff (didn't even say bye). We understand the importance of tipping, but after spending $50 on fries, their reaction was excessive & out of place!! It's unfortunate because the food was good, but the service left us feeling unwelcome & uncomfortable.
NO TAP WATER served, shame on the owners, this is supposed to be a family restaurant, not a high end bar I should have read the reviews carefully, I didn't think poutine would be at risk of tasting bland or a shop specializing in it would turn out a poor version. FRIED onions apparently means wet onions as per my picture. The Montreal smoked meat sandwich looked pathetic, I could put out a better version getting my ingredients from Safeway in BC... I'd be okay with all this if the prices were cheap but they're definitely not especially when it's $4 for a 500ml of Esker water.
