Review Summary

Mon Nan is widely regarded as a staple in Montreal Chinatown, frequently praised for its extensive menu of authentic, flavorful dishes such as salt and pepper shrimp, General Tao chicken, and Peking duck. While many patrons appreciate the generous portion sizes, efficient service, and welcoming atmosphere perfect for groups, others note that the dining experience can be inconsistent. Opinions on pricing are mixed, with some finding it a great value for the quality and quantity provided, while others perceive it as expensive or note concerns regarding service attentiveness and billing practices. Despite occasional reports of varying service quality, many loyal customers consider it a top-tier destination for consistent and comforting Chinese cuisine.

Honestly it's my favorite Chinese resto in Montreal. Haven't had a bad dish. Particular favorites are the scallop fried rice, salt & pepper pork chops, Cantonese chow mein, & the razor clams when in season

We are from out of town. Restaurant Mon Nan was great! Fantastic Chinese food. Authentic. They provide hot tea entire meal which is a nice touch. Rotating table for family style. Affordable for large quantities of food.

You'll wait on an on night, & the cost of things has picked up as of late, but this is probably the best Asian food in Montreal. I've been coming here for years & it never disappoints.

In October, we decided to try restaurant Mon Nan. We absolutely love it! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was delightful, & the staff was outstanding. They were incredibly attentive & took extra care as soon as I mentioned my food allergy. I will definitely be returning!

I recently went here for my birthday & I won't lie; it was mostly because it was one of few options open late after a show. However, what we found was excellent Chinese Canadian fare, (as salty, sweet, sticky & satisfying as you like; don't expect too fancy here, this is comforting & down to earth). In particular; the salt & pepper squid & Mapo tofu were absolutely to die for. More so than this, our waitress was an absolute gem: & this was the truly the best part of our experience. The food was great but the service was incredible in that she was friendly, hilarious & helpful. Would go back to this 30+ year old Chinatown institution in a heartbeat!
