I went to Momoji by Otto for dinner on a Sunday at 7pm & we were surprisingly the only table there. The ambiance & decor were really nice-definitely a highlight of the experience.
As for the food, it was okay but nothing particularly memorable, especially for the price. The beef carpaccio was quite bland & overloaded with cheese, which threw off the balance of the dish. It lacked flavor overall. The crudo was decent, & the cod cheek stood out as the best item I tried-flavorful & well-executed.
The tasting box felt overhyped & underdelivered. The makis were just okay & didn't stand out in any way. Cocktails were also on the expensive side & not that impressive.
Overall, while the atmosphere was nice, the food & drinks didn't justify the price.
My birthday celebration at Momiji last night was nothing short of amazing.
From the staff to the incredible food & the attention to detail-even thoughtfully accommodating my friend who doesn't drink alcohol-everything was exceptional. The evening was filled with nothing but wonderful emotions.
To the entire team & all the chefs who took the time to present such beautifully crafted & delicious dishes: thank you. Truly, chef's kiss. The makis were mouthwatering, & the ebi baos & the cod cheek & grilled calamari & lamb skewers were outstanding-chef's kiss again.
Kevin, our bartender for the night, thank you. Your cocktails, mocktails, & deliciously creative shots left us wanting more.
To our waitress, whose name I unfortunately didn't get: thank you for being sweet, patient, kind, & incredibly efficient.
Vien, & everyone who took such great care of my loved ones & me-thank you. You truly made my birthday celebration a night I will always cherish.
We'll definitely be back for more-you can count on that 🙌
Momiji is a mind blowing Japanese restaurant. Their sushi is incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, & honestly one of the highlights of the whole experience. The foie gras x truffle maki is mouthwatering. If you want something fun & unique, the Momiji box is a must. It is a tasty curated selection of the chef's creations that lets you taste a bit of everything. They also offer Kushi & delicious Mazemen 🍱
The drink menu is another mind blowing experience. They have cocktails, sake, & a great wine list that pair nicely with the dishes🍸
The place is charming, clean, & modern, with warm dim lighting & good music.
The staff were kind & efficient.
The food is original, complex, & flavorful. (I recommend the duck tataki as a starter-perfect for foie gras lovers-& the black truffle maki, along with other creative sushi pairings & delicious sashimi.)
The wonderful owner is often present, guiding guests with wine or sake pairings & helping with dessert choices, all infused with the French-Japanese fusion spirit.
Overall: excellent Japanese fusion cuisine, a great location, & efficient, attentive staff.
Great restaurant. Such a lovely & cozy decor. This place gets full quite fast so I recommend reserving ahead. As soon as we arrived, we were nicely greeted. The waiter was friendly & helpful. They serve the soysauce in a bottle with a dropper which I found very original. We tried the A5 wagyu brochette. It was small but delicious. It melted in my mouth. We tried the Momiji box. It didn't disappoint. The blend of flavours were perfect. We also had the Hotate maki. It tasted incredible. This is a pricey restaurant but what a great experience!
We liked every dish but didn't like the price(°?°). I guess it's a Royalmount price
The Momiji box was beautiful & delicious. Hotate maki was really enjoyable with a combination of kimchi & strawberry sauce. The dessert was fantastic as well
Would be great if the bathroom has a hook for bag or jacket
