Atmosphere. Nostalgic & classic old style restaurant. Clean, warm atmosphere.

Service. Friendly, bilingual, knowledgeable & accommodating.

Food. Always consistently good.

Stopped by for a basket of fries & a drink with friends.

As usual the fries was a large portion, enough for three adults to snack on with a drink. Curly Q fries were crisp & perfectly flavoured, not greasy & you could not smell anything - which is what you want because it means the restaurant is changing their frying oil properly.

I have eaten here hundreds of time & loved their all beef, no filler hamburger. This is the only restaurant in Montreal from the beginning, that would form its meat into a weighed ball & then press on it to form the shape of a burger. You could almost say that Mr Steer was the first smash burger joint in the city - only that they don't squish it so much that it's a crispy burned dead piece of meat lol. Their burger is done just right, similarly to how What a Burger does.

I also loved that they sell Rootbeer & they serve it in a chilled mug. Tasted to good.

Bottom line. Will I return - without a doubt!

Quick weeknight dinner for two. Had the Mr. Steerburger (1/4 pound) with coleslaw & a small Coke. Food & service were very good, but $24 (including tax but not tip) is too expensive for what I got. A side of cole slaw was $5.95 & a small coke was $4.95, which is excessive (They charge $9.55 for a mug of draft beer (not a pint, which is $12.55, which is more expensive than almost any bar in town),$4.95 for coffee & $7.55 for a glass of tomato juice, so they are clearly gouging on drink prices). The resto was practically empty too at 7PM! Good food at an iconic & nostalgic Montreal spot, but bang for your buck, it's not worth it!

Mister Steer is a true gem for anyone craving vintage Montreal vibes & comfort food done right. From the retro decor to the friendly service, everything about this place feels like a nostalgic throwback-in the best way possible.

The menu is extensive with something for everyone, but let's be honest-you're here for the burger. Their signature Steerburger has earned its reputation as'the best burger in the world,' & it really lives up to the hype: juicy, flavorful, & perfectly cooked every time.

Prices are super reasonable for the quality & portions. & don't skip the famous Suzie Q fries-they're crispy, curly, & the perfect sidekick to any meal.

Whether you're a local or just passing through, Mister Steer is a must-visit spot that captures the heart (& appetite) of Montreal.

Mr. Steer is a true gem if you're looking for that classic, authentic vibe! Walking in feels like a step back in time in the best way possible, with an atmosphere that's all about keeping things real & old-school. The menu delivers exactly what you'd hope for-delicious, hearty food that feels comforting & genuine. Their steak is spot-on, cooked just right with that rich, savory flavor that's hard to beat. & the milkshakes? So thick, creamy, & absolutely indulgent! They really don't make them like this anymore. To top it off, their sundaes are the perfect throwback dessert, piled with just the right amount of toppings to make you feel like a kid again. Mr. Steer nails that nostalgic, good-tasting experience that's rare to find these days. Definitely worth a visit!

Love this place. Been going here for 47 years. They used to give a piece of Dentyne gum on the side of the plate if you ordered a burger with onion, (they should start doing that again). The generosity has changed since the Reno. No pickles in the bowl that was ALWAYS on the table. I ordered a hamburger steak, & the gravy was in a paper cup. Recently renovated, a shocking change from the old. Don't know why they did the Reno, it was great before, very nostalgic. My hamburger steak was cooked to perfection & so was my wife's burger. Service is good.
