Lisa was amazing, service was outstanding & quick. The place was very busy yesterday but thanks to Lisa I received my food in a short period of waiting time, food was amazing. Definitely coming back!
Walked in with 2 friends on a saturday night when the restaurant was pretty empty. When I asked for a third menu for myself, the waitress said'No, there are only two menus'. Mind you, the restaurant was not even half full. The waitress forgot our drink order & the entrees. She didn't give us any attention & when we asked for the bill, she didn't split it as we had mentioned saying'It's already done'. Sucks to leave a bad review because the food was good but the service was horrible.
Les burgers étaient vraiment délicieux !! La viande était bonne, & les'frittes' très croustillantes & bonnes.
La serveuse était très sympa & drôle.
Bon restaurant, très bonne surprise !
Atmosphere. Nostalgic & classic old style restaurant. Clean, warm atmosphere.
Service. Friendly, bilingual, knowledgeable & accommodating.
Food. Always consistently good.
Stopped by for a basket of fries & a drink with friends.
As usual the fries was a large portion, enough for three adults to snack on with a drink. Curly Q fries were crisp & perfectly flavoured, not greasy & you could not smell anything - which is what you want because it means the restaurant is changing their frying oil properly.
I have eaten here hundreds of time & loved their all beef, no filler hamburger. This is the only restaurant in Montreal from the beginning, that would form its meat into a weighed ball & then press on it to form the shape of a burger. You could almost say that Mr Steer was the first smash burger joint in the city - only that they don't squish it so much that it's a crispy burned dead piece of meat lol. Their burger is done just right, similarly to how What a Burger does.
I also loved that they sell Rootbeer & they serve it in a chilled mug. Tasted to good.
Bottom line. Will I return - without a doubt!
Mr. Steer is a Montreal staple, a must if you're running errands in downtown or passing by while going to a Canadiens game.
We were serve promptly & the food was good & Louisa was amazing. We always come back whenever we can.
Meilleur burger que j'ai mangé de toute ma vie! La viande est INCROYABLEMENT bonne.
Quick weeknight dinner for two. Had the Mr. Steerburger (1/4 pound) with coleslaw & a small Coke. Food & service were very good, but $24 (including tax but not tip) is too expensive for what I got. A side of cole slaw was $5.95 & a small coke was $4.95, which is excessive (They charge $9.55 for a mug of draft beer (not a pint, which is $12.55, which is more expensive than almost any bar in town),$4.95 for coffee & $7.55 for a glass of tomato juice, so they are clearly gouging on drink prices). The resto was practically empty too at 7PM! Good food at an iconic & nostalgic Montreal spot, but bang for your buck, it's not worth it!
When asking people what the best burger in Montreal is, you're likely to get a bunch of more modern & trendy burger places & a lot of those restaurants do have amazing burgers but Mr. Steer has the single best one: The Hero.
I've never tasted a meat patty so good that you could have it by itself & still be satisfied. It's super thick & always cooked to perfection. EVERY BITE is heaven. The'suzie Q' fries you get alongside it are amazing as well.
If you're also gonna get a poutine, their'Tex-Mex' is one of the best I've ever had. The only bad thing I have to say is that the price is too much. 22$ for a poutine is unacceptable.
I'd be in trouble if I lived near this place... 10/10
Food was not very good.
My wife's burger had a slice of tomato with mold & the burgers had very little taste.
I've been eating here for over 20 years now, & ive never had a bad experience. The service & food are an 11/10
To start, the owner of'67 years' met us at the door. We briefly delved into some history & how Ken Dryden was a regular there every home game, 40X/year. Many of the Habs have eaten there. No doubt, as Mr. Steer has'the best' burgers in all of Montreal!! Dont miss this spot when ib Montreal!!
We drove downtown specifically to eat here & arrived at 8:30pm. The posted hours said they close at 10pm, but the door was locked. We could see a guy inside, & even so it took about two minutes of knocking before he came to the door. When he finally answered, he told us they decided to close early.
Pretty frustrating to make the trip based on the hours & be turned away. If you're going to close early, please update your hours online/on the door so people don't waste their time.
This was the only disappointing food I've have encountered in Montreal yet, I have never left a negative review before & our server was so sweet & kind, I would not recommend the steer burger. I paid $35 & a $5 tip for just a $10 poutine as the burger was the worst burger I've ever had, they offered a replacement burger but I lost my appetite after the first one was so terrible.
