Mister Steer is a true gem for anyone craving vintage Montreal vibes & comfort food done right. From the retro decor to the friendly service, everything about this place feels like a nostalgic throwback-in the best way possible.
The menu is extensive with something for everyone, but let's be honest-you're here for the burger. Their signature Steerburger has earned its reputation as'the best burger in the world,' & it really lives up to the hype: juicy, flavorful, & perfectly cooked every time.
Prices are super reasonable for the quality & portions. & don't skip the famous Suzie Q fries-they're crispy, curly, & the perfect sidekick to any meal.
Whether you're a local or just passing through, Mister Steer is a must-visit spot that captures the heart (& appetite) of Montreal.
back when I wanted a burger, it would be a mr steer burger . The recipe was unique & a must have if you're visiting Montreal. The suzy q fries were also a fun treat :) I went back recently & wasn't as impressed by the burger but it was good. Maybe the recipe changed because it had less flavour than I remember. Also the fries used to be more curly & these were oily. I'm a vegan most of the time now so meat is less appealing. I don't see myself coming back. It wasn't worth the exception
Miam ! Un délice ! Nous avons pris un burger, la viande était très bonne & la cuisson demandée à été respectée ! Je recommande vivement !
I used to go there 30 years ago. It was great then & today was just as good.
Great burger & fries
Best burgers in town. Worst sides in town. Been going for decades. Drinks too expensive.
Food: Poutine was okay-not a lot of flavor going on despite ordering the Steer Burger & Tex Mex poutines. Pecan pie was just pecans on top of a corn syrup jelly. Really not good. Would be very surprised if it was even made in house & not brought in frozen. What bothered me as well was how confident this restaurant's marketing is that they have the best food around, despite easily having some of the worst for Ste-Catherine, in my opinion. For this quality cheap fast food with apparently not much care put into it, I did not expect the big price tag, which I found offensive.
Service: Our server, a young man seemed great! An older woman who also served us seemed a little grumpy with us for whatever reason.
Atmosphere: I always love a diner vibe. Space was good for calm conversation, but we were around quite late.
I would not return, & would recommend others not to either.
World class burgers. The service was awesome for a very large table. The inside felt very much like a diner which was cool. The food was tasty & arrived quickly. Another great spot!
This place is old school which is actually refreshing. Fast service & the waiter was great. We all got burgers which comes with a salad. Super fast & very good for the price.
Our family has been coming here since they were young so it was special for us to all go here for my dad's birthday! Our server, Mohammed was the best. He was so kind & made sure we were taken care of even though they were closing soon. Definitely recommend the poutine with your burger!
Fantastic burgers in a deli-style environment. Fast & friendly service & a great place to go before the hockey game
Toujours un plaisir de déguster un bon steer burger médium-saignant accompagné de suzie-q. Pas cher pour la qualité de l'assiette.
Service was very friendly & efficient at lunch but the prices are outrageous. For same price you can get a way better burger with fresher toppings & a bigger patty at many restaurants downtown. My tiny burger arrived with the saddest looking slices of onion, lettuce & one sad tomato. There were a decent amount of fries but that in no way justifies the 17,50$ price!
This fabulous downtown diner has, by far, one of the best juicy burgers in Montreal. Been here multiple times in the past ten years & every time, the same high quality food, & service along with a nice North American diner vibe. & the prices are very reasonable! This place has to be on everyone's 💜 list IMHO 😅
Food was bad & unimpressive, burger patty the size of a toonie, fries unsalted & soggy. Place is old & in need of a reno, $28 for a bad burger fries & a coke. Place needs to step it up to deserve being on St. Cathrine's.
Meilleur endroit pour manger des burgers à Montréal! Très bon service.
Wow, what a great burger! I've been here before, when I was a kid, but I didn't remember how good these burgers were. I might stop going to the newer burger places I like so much, & come here instead. Had the half pound Texan burger & it was just so enjoyable. That's the closest to the satisfaction of a burger off the BBQ, at my dad's place, I think I've ever had. The fries were very good too - & different. The service was very friendly.
