burger(77) fries(30) hamburger(18) steak(14) frites(13) poutine(10) salad(10) viande(9) curly(9) school(6) mohammed(6) quality(6)Quick weeknight dinner for two. Had the Mr. Steerburger (1/4 pound) with coleslaw & a small Coke. Food & service were very good, but $24 (including tax but not tip) is too expensive for what I got. A side of cole slaw was $5.95 & a small coke was $4.95, which is excessive (They charge $9.55 for a mug of draft beer (not a pint, which is $12.55, which is more expensive than almost any bar in town),$4.95 for coffee & $7.55 for a glass of tomato juice, so they are clearly gouging on drink prices). The resto was practically empty too at 7PM! Good food at an iconic & nostalgic Montreal spot, but bang for your buck, it's not worth it!
When asking people what the best burger in Montreal is, you're likely to get a bunch of more modern & trendy burger places & a lot of those restaurants do have amazing burgers but Mr. Steer has the single best one: The Hero.
I've never tasted a meat patty so good that you could have it by itself & still be satisfied. It's super thick & always cooked to perfection. EVERY BITE is heaven. The'suzie Q' fries you get alongside it are amazing as well.
If you're also gonna get a poutine, their'Tex-Mex' is one of the best I've ever had. The only bad thing I have to say is that the price is too much. 22$ for a poutine is unacceptable.
I'd be in trouble if I lived near this place... 10/10
Food was not very good.
My wife's burger had a slice of tomato with mold & the burgers had very little taste.
I've been eating here for over 20 years now, & ive never had a bad experience. The service & food are an 11/10
To start, the owner of'67 years' met us at the door. We briefly delved into some history & how Ken Dryden was a regular there every home game, 40X/year. Many of the Habs have eaten there. No doubt, as Mr. Steer has'the best' burgers in all of Montreal!! Dont miss this spot when ib Montreal!!
We drove downtown specifically to eat here & arrived at 8:30pm. The posted hours said they close at 10pm, but the door was locked. We could see a guy inside, & even so it took about two minutes of knocking before he came to the door. When he finally answered, he told us they decided to close early.
Pretty frustrating to make the trip based on the hours & be turned away. If you're going to close early, please update your hours online/on the door so people don't waste their time.
This was the only disappointing food I've have encountered in Montreal yet, I have never left a negative review before & our server was so sweet & kind, I would not recommend the steer burger. I paid $35 & a $5 tip for just a $10 poutine as the burger was the worst burger I've ever had, they offered a replacement burger but I lost my appetite after the first one was so terrible.
Cetait tres bon, le service etait super, la nourriture à ete preparer rapidement! La seule affaire c que jai Payer 40$ pour 2 boisson 1 hot dog 1 frites & 1 mini burger..
I always loved Mister Steer but my last burger (today august 2025) i ask for a medium cook for takeout & received a really uncook meat. So much it was almost raw. I coudn't return cuz i was in between job. I was really disappointed for a 14$ burger only. So sad for a super burger usually! Don't think i will return again.
Prices are a wee bit high, but this has been my regular pre-game meal anytime I go watch the Canadiens, & their burgers & Suzie-Q fries are A1 !
We had a friend to came in to Montreal. The first place he wanted to eat was at your Restaurant. Last time he came to your establishment was over 40 years ago. It was delicious as we expected. Special thanks to our excellent server'Diane' 🙏💐❤?🤗
Our food was good. Salad was just lettuce & shredded carrot, was not offered a dressing. Our waitress, when asked of the onion rings were thin or thick cut, had no idea what I was asking. My husband had a burger & it was good, but more bun than meat. I just had curly fries, which were very good.
We were seated quickly. Service was great.
The food was nice, especially the burger meat. The fries were good & different from other places, but not seasoned or barely.
With construction work happening on the street, it s best to use public transit or go straight to an indoor parking if using car.
