Review Summary

Marche Moon Star is praised as a hidden gem for authentic Bangladeshi cuisine in Montreal, delivering home style flavors across a broad menu that includes kacchi biryani, beef tehari, roast polao, chicken curry, halim, piyaju, daal puri, bhorta, borhani, and a well regarded milk tea and naan. Reviewers describe fresh ingredients, generous portions, and very reasonable prices that make it a great value for families and late night diners alike. The service is repeatedly highlighted as warm, friendly, and attentive, with guests feeling welcome and well taken care of, and some noting extras like a complimentary dessert or a small lamb dish on the house after catering orders. The atmosphere is considered comfortable and uncomplicated, with the emphasis on food that tastes home cooked and deeply Bangladeshi, and many say it reminds them of meals back home. A few comments point to occasional inconsistencies like spiciness or occasional smells, but the overall impression is of a dependable spot that many would return to for consistent authenticity and hospitality.

I can't believe how amazing the food was here. Original Bangladeshi taste. Felt like I was back home. Super cheap as well. I don't know if there is any other restaurant that opens so early & stay open until so late as well like Moon Star!!?

After a long time, I finally had a truly satisfying meal. The food was exceptional-both in quantity & quality. Every dish carried the rich aroma & authentic taste of traditional Bangladeshi cuisine, which made the experience even more special.

What stood out the most, however, was the hospitality. The owners treated us with such warmth & care, it felt less like dining at a restaurant & more like being welcomed into a family home. Their kindness & attention made the entire experience unforgettable.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for genuine flavors & heartfelt service.

This is a great hole-in-the-wall establishment. The food is absolutely delicious & authentic Bangladeshi - you can tell a lot of care goes into making it. The owner Moon is a gem, she even provided us free shemai for Eid. The prices are extremely reasonable. Will definitely return!

Vous devez attendre un peu pour votre commande mais ça en vaut la peine car les plats sont absolument savoureux & la quantité est généreuse. Je recommande fortement.

Trying their food took me back to when I went to visit Dhaka, Bangladesh for a couple of months. Excellent service & very welcoming! Portions are generous! We had their Beef Tehari, Chicken Curry, with the side dish Allo Bhorta, Begun Bhorta, & Sutki Bhorta. All very tasty & delicious, spicy, & authentic!

Food:
Summary: Tastes like good home cooked meal, nothing close to bangladeshi restaurants or baburchis. Thats not an issue. Main issue it doesnt taste fresh, most items taste like it has been frozen for a long time & reheated when serving. Tried this place twice, & the food tasted stale both times. Price is reasonable based on local market.

Tehari: (4/5) tastes close to authentic tehari in Bangladesh. But the meat pieces were tough & felt like it was prepared long ago & re-heated. Not like it wasnt cooked properly, it was as if the meat became stale & tough by the process of freezing & reheating. But rating 4 out 5 still since taste was close to home.

Kachhi: (1/5) The meat was definitely old, stale, & reheated. The meat was tough & looked stale as well. It it did not taste a day or two old stale, it tasted like it was at least a week old. Rating 1 only because the rice had some hint of fragrance of authentic kachhi, but it is still far off. Plan to get a roast or something to have with it because the biriyani meat is almost inedible.

Roast Polao: 5/5. Tastes like home but the polao is extremely greasy.

Service: Service is very slow. Except for the owner, nobody else knows how to greet customers. But thats fine for a small authentic restaurant such as this.

Amosphere: Mostly a takeaway. Didnt feel like a place where I would plan to sit & enjoy.

The food is absolutely delicious & tastes just like authentic Bangladeshi food. Whenever I have it, it always brings back memories of Bangladesh. The biryani here is the best Bangladeshi biryani I've had in Montreal.

Great place for Bangladeshi foods. We ordered their Piyaju & Halim. The Piyaju were crispy & freshly fried, served with great dressing (unfortunately, we forgot to take photo of the Piyaju). The halim was also tasty.

You must go here! We had the Beef Tehari, Chicken Curry & Rui Fish with Milk Tea. Every dish was amazing. The service is so thoughtful, they even gave us a free portion of a lamb dish & dessert on the house after having prepared a catering order. The prices are more than reasonable, we were stuffed full for under $40.
