Celebrations and business meals alike are elevated by gracious service and careful attention to detail. While prices sit on the higher end, the quality, generous flavors, and presentation are consistently praised as worth it. Overall, Mama C stands out as a memorable dining destination in Montreal, offering great food, superb service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere.
Based off of recommendations online, we were excited to give Mama C a try. First off, the general vibe & decor was stunning. We were so excited to be seated, but the hostess seemed annoyed & generally unpleasant. Our server was nice but seemed like he was in a rush & didn't take the time to explain anything on the menu or any specials. When we asked about the difference between two types of fish (catch of the day, which were not on the menu) all he could say was "one is bigger". We noticed that the pricing for the food was really high, but decided to give it a chance. Cheapest pasta is $42 & salads are $30+. That's fine but it took a while for us to simply order & receive our drinks & food. Our conversation kept getting interrupted by hostesses that were yelling, running around & joking with the servers (who seemed visibly annoyed). Then we noticed the hostesses sat down at the bar to eat while periodically getting up to greet guests. While they were eating, we kept waiting. The food was good but it was not worth the price, especially for abysmal service. The side of lemon potatoes was so sour it ended up being inedible. The main dishes are very plain & don't come with any sides. We ordered a shareable steak for $138 & it was good but very plain - nothing special. This place is a hard pass, especially when there are dozens of incredible restaurants in Montréal.
Tuesday night , Reservation for 2 , the place is half full, We were seated fast & welcomed by the waitress who proceeds to describe the menu & different dishes with details, gives us her advice on top picks & we proceed to order 2 entrees & 2 main dishes... everything was delicious. Deconstructed tyropita : great flavor & presentation with a cook coming to break it apart but i wont lie the flavor gets a bit ... repetitive .. ? Grilled calamari : the chared flavor , the presentation with the broach & the sauce on top. Absolutely a must. Pastitsio : the approach is different & delicious but again, too much sauce & the cream flavors ends up overwhelming the delicious oxtail ragú... mitigated ? Beef kebab : this dish is everything it should be & more, the show when the cook puts it on the plate off the broach, the perfect cooking tenderness & mariage with the yogurt sauce & grilled vegetables . Yes yes & yes Overall i did suggest it at least 10 times since I've been myself & i would go back in the proper setting as it is a little pricey but definitely worth it. Food : 4 | Service : 5 | Atmosphere : 3

5 stars all around! I went here for dinner & drinks with a group of friends & everything was amazing. The hostess was so fun & friendly & seated us right away. We ordered some drinks off of the wine & cocktail menu & all were very happy with them - I personally ordered the Rodi Mule & loved it. It was a good pomegranate twist on the classic Moscow mule. Our server Josh was very friendly too & gave us some great recommendations. We ended up ordering several dishes to share & everything was delicious but our favorites were the moussaka & the shrimp saganaki. To finish we tried the bougatsa dessert & it was so good, & plenty big to split between the five of us. On top of the great food & service the interior of the restaurant itself was beautiful. We arrived shortly after they opened for dinner but by the time we left it was crowded so it seems like a popular spot. Overall we were super impressed by the service, food, & drinks & would absolutely come back!
The restaurant was beautiful. The service was incredible, Jason, Hugo & Ian took good care of us. They made a few recommendations & were very honest when they thought we might be ordering too much. Thank you guys, every was spot on with the dishes! Definitely
I rarely rate anything but this place is worth letting people know. First off the food was amazing & for once the shared plates were huge (more than 2 small eaters). I love the quality of the seafood (seafood tower) & the other dishes i tried from my friends plates. What made me really fall in love with the place was the service, good foood can be found relatively easily but excellent service is another story. The waiters were very nice & the manager Hugo Cayer that was assisting at the table were excellent. I was surprised that someone high up actually bothered to show up at our table & make sure everything was great even if we didn't have any issues. I hope you have as much of a great experience as me when you go
Recently, my friends & I had the pleasure of dining at a new Greek restaurant nestled in the heart of Old Montreal, right under a famous hotel. From the moment we stepped inside, we were enveloped by the restaurant's stunning decor & vibrant atmosphere. The combination of traditional Greek elements & modern design created an inviting space that truly set the stage for an enjoyable evening. The service was top-notch throughout our visit. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, & eager to share recommendations, which added a personal touch to our dining experience. It's always nice when the staff genuinely care about making your meal memorable. As for the menu, while there were several enticing options to choose from, we did find ourselves wishing for a broader selection typical of a Greek restaurant. Unfortunately, some of the dishes we had our hearts set on were unavailable that night, which was a slight disappointment. Nonetheless, the food we did order was well-prepared & flavorful, showcasing the rich culinary heritage of Greece. While we can't wait to return & explore more of the menu, we did find the prices to be on the high side, which might make frequent visits a little challenging. However, the combination of the enchanting atmosphere, attentive service, & delicious food makes it a worthwhile experience for special occasions or a delightful night out in Old Montreal. Overall, I highly recommend giving this restaurant a visit. With its charming ambiance & great service, it has all the makings of a promising new spot in the city!
I recently visited a new restaurant in Montreal, & while the design & vibe were A+ (it gave me Myth in Toronto vibes with the music), the overall experience was hit or miss. The food was a mix of deconstructed dishes that felt like they lacked originality. The lamb skewers were great - meaty & flavorful, but the lobster pasta dish my friends ordered was overpriced for the portion & unfortunately bland. My octopus dish was just okay; the sweet sauce overpowered the flavors I was hoping for. The pastitsio was solid but served in a non-traditional presentation, & I couldn't taste the truffle in the tyropita - the cheese felt too much like cream cheese, & the presentation didn't impress. Service was just okay, though it was surprising they chose to train a new waiter on a busy Friday night (his second shift), which impacted the experience. Overall, not a terrible night, but for the prices (same as Milos), especially on dishes like the lobster pasta, I expected more.

The place was beautiful our waiter was very warm & friendly. We came to have dinner on a Saturday night . We had order a drink on the cocktail menu & it was so sweet we had to return it. Our dishes were alright except the clam pasta it was so salty we couldn't continue to eat it. Trendy beautiful restaurant , I just had higher hopes for the food .
Stepping into the restaurant, one is immediately transported to a charming taverna. The decor strikes a perfect balance between authenticity & retro chic, with vintage decor & music setting a lively yet nostalgic mood. The menu is a delightful homage to Greece's culinary traditions, with a modern twist. Each dish is a testament to the authentic flavors of Greece, crafted from fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. Standout dishes include the grilled octopus, tender & perfectly seasoned, & the moussaka, which is rich, creamy, & comforting. The tzatziki is a revelation - creamy, garlicky, & refreshing, it's the perfect companion to warm, freshly-baked pita bread. 🤩 our new favourite spot
