Very disappointing experience overall.
The service was unfriendly, cold, & honestly made the whole visit uncomfortable. The way we were treated felt off & unwelcoming, which took away from the entire dining experience.
On top of that, they only accept cash, which is surprising & inconvenient in 2026. For a restaurant, not offering card payment just adds unnecessary friction for customers.
The atmosphere itself isn't particularly inviting, & combined with the service, it makes the experience feel unappealing from start to finish.
At this price point, there are many better Thai restaurants in Montreal with warmer service, better energy, & a much more enjoyable overall experience.
Respect yourself & skip this place - you can do much better for the same money.
Update 5/6/26: Been coming to her for years. She has a fish taco special with a tea or lemonade for 10$ before tax. So delicious & you can taste the love in the food. Please bring cash if you don't order pickup on ubereats.
Great food at a great price. You have the option of doing Uber eats, or ordering on a computer screen at the restaurant for a quicker service through debit or credit payment. The owner knows I'm a usual, so she leaves cookies with my order. Glad to feel appreciated when I get my usual meals.
UPDATE: The food gave me food poisoning. I felt unwell the entire evening following & then threw up. DO NOT EAT HERE
Everything is awkward with mama bankok: the location is awkward, looking through the gigantic menu plastered on the wall is awkward, ordering through their tablet is awkward, the service is awkward, the restrictive limits on how to pay is awkward, & the lack of chopsticks is awkward. Even the seating is awkward.
They bumped their price by a lot (pad thai chicken used to be 12, it costs me 19 total now) & I disagree with all the other comments saying this is the best pad thai or a very authentic one. I found it to be closer in taste to a Thai Express pad thai. Mine in particular was so salty I couldn't have more than a few bites.
By the 1st of january 2026 they are going to switch to cash only. That paired with everything else (especially the price bump), I don't see why you would ever choose this place over the hundred other asian restaurants around.
I often go there when I don't want to cook & wanna eat something really good for a low price (for how much is served). The food is really good & one meal is actually two meals. Worth it. I don't understand the 3.4 review honestly.
Delicious breaded pork pad thai. Portion is twice as big & way better flavoured compared to thai franchise place. Freshness of ingredients stands out in the dish & the al dente on the rice noodles was right on spot. Already said it was delicious. They have a home made "very hot pepper sauce" which I enjoyed. Yes, there is a self ordering touchscreen that you need to scroll on the screen & could be more intuitive or change in design to void scrolling by finger on a thin scroll bar to the edge of the touch screen. Did I mention the price ? Very affordable for the quality & flavors I had, 14.99$ the pork pad thai. The Fauburg atmosphere is not the nicest, not their fault.
This is a hidden gem with an underground feel to it. Authentic food with reasonable prices. The chicken pad Thai with udon noodles & egg is absolutely amazing.
The food here is amazing. Didn't have a padthai like this since Thailand. For this quality of Food & price, I don't care about the service
Hidden gem, portions were huge, very good price & food was bussin
