Their hours of operation is not consistent with Google Maps. I arrived according to their opening hours & it was closed , the owner had a terrible attitude about me trying to order & asking about their opening hours, which was weird…
They've cut down their menu by a lot too, now serving pretty much just pad thai & not much else.
UPDATE: The food gave me food poisoning. I felt unwell the entire evening following & then threw up. DO NOT EAT HERE
Everything is awkward with mama bankok: the location is awkward, looking through the gigantic menu plastered on the wall is awkward, ordering through their tablet is awkward, the service is awkward, the restrictive limits on how to pay is awkward, & the lack of chopsticks is awkward. Even the seating is awkward.
They bumped their price by a lot (pad thai chicken used to be 12, it costs me 19 total now) & I disagree with all the other comments saying this is the best pad thai or a very authentic one. I found it to be closer in taste to a Thai Express pad thai. Mine in particular was so salty I couldn't have more than a few bites.
By the 1st of january 2026 they are going to switch to cash only. That paired with everything else (especially the price bump), I don't see why you would ever choose this place over the hundred other asian restaurants around.
Tried to go to another restaurant but it was closed so went for this one. Worst idea! I should have checked the reviews. First the service was so bad, plus I get so sick after eating the shrimp pad Thai, vomit multiple times tonight….someone needs to check their hygiene in the kitchen
Pad Thai was delicious & the Tom Yum was good! Service was fairly quick.
Amazing food. I order pad Thai with breaded chicken & it's my favourite pad Thai. The self-service system can be finicky but it's not a problem once you know how to use it. I never had an issue with service from the cashier (maybe it's a different person) but they've been nice & to-the-point.
Best Pad Thai in Montreal hands down. The first thing I do when I get back to the city after travelling abroad is getting a Pad Thai from Mama Bangkok. Ignore all the snarky borderline xenophobic reviews about the lady behind the register, I've been going to this place for years & she has always been polite & attentive. I will forever be recommending this place
I almost did not want to try because of the low review. Though I want to acknowledge that most of the reviews about the snob lady is true! Lol! But I'm not here to be friends with her, I'm here to try their pad thai! I wasn't disappointed, it's a legit pad thai & really one of the best in the city! This review is from a guy who lived in South East Asia half of his adult life & have been to Thailand more than 20x. I know a real pad thai versus a regular stir fry. :) The serving is huge, two people can share. I will be back for sure!
Best Pad Thai in the city, I'm not even joking. I'd gladly let the rude cashier spit on me if that's what was needed to eat her food.
If you want better than average Pad Thai & are a good problem solver (order system takes some getting used to), you don't have to worry about grumpy service. It's not a restaurant folks, you don't have to tip. Just grab, go, & enjoy!
So nice to come back to an updated revival of my Faubourg fave Bangkok. I had the tofu pad Thai, which was done in the same way as I remember. Delicious & nostalgic. Thanks!
Insanely perfect pad Thai. Actually fell asleep later that night thinking about it & the lady, I think I might be in love
Food is great, the cashier/cook is RUDE, very very rude, I didn't know how the system worked & she yelled at me "u can't do what ever u want here" just because I ordered from the computer that was for cash only & meant to pay by card (I didn't know it was one computer for each transaction) & when I told her I didn't know cuz it was my first time there, she's screamed at me "you wanna keep talking? I give u money back, I don't give u pad Thai" It was kind of funny to see that much sass, but yeah no, the lady is very rude, be aware
Delicious breaded pork pad thai. Portion is twice as big & way better flavoured compared to thai franchise place. Freshness of ingredients stands out in the dish & the al dente on the rice noodles was right on spot. Already said it was delicious. They have a home made "very hot pepper sauce" which I enjoyed. Yes, there is a self ordering touchscreen that you need to scroll on the screen & could be more intuitive or change in design to void scrolling by finger on a thin scroll bar to the edge of the touch screen. Did I mention the price ? Very affordable for the quality & flavors I had, 14.99$ the pork pad thai. The Fauburg atmosphere is not the nicest, not their fault.
This is a hidden gem with an underground feel to it. Authentic food with reasonable prices. The chicken pad Thai with udon noodles & egg is absolutely amazing.
The food here is amazing. Didn't have a padthai like this since Thailand. For this quality of Food & price, I don't care about the service
Delicious pad thai! Out of curiousity I tried the Pad Thai with Fried Calemari. It came with a big portion of perfectly fried Calemari. T'was crispy! Pas thai was 10/10. The spicy sauce is available at your own preference so you can eat it non spicy or spicy af.
I don't like to order pad thai in North America & usually opt for more authentic thai dishes (pad thai has a very interesting political history btw). That said, this place has the best pad thai I've had in Canada! The machine's wonky. You have to click on a super specific spot on the scroll if you want to see the bottom of the list. All adds to the charm if you ask me. If a place makes me nostalgic about Asia it's doing everything right.
