Absolutely incredible experience. I drive up often from Montreal to enjoy my favourite restaurant. fresh farm-to-table food, beautiful location & very hospitable staff who clearly enjoy what they do. I highly recommend you try this restaurant if you haven't. Try everything on the menu!

My wife & I had the tasting menu here recently in late August. First impressions were exciting as the location is gorgeous, & the restaurant is tastefully designed - with one major caveat.

When you first enter, you find yourself in a merchandise area, which I think is not the most appropriate way to start a meal/dining experience. I'll get to the food but first the aesthetics of the restaurant need to be mentioned. We were sat at the counter adjacent to the open kitchen. Every other open kitchen I've ever seen has been well lit, like a theater set almost, so the guests can watch as the chefs prepare meals. Here, the kitchen was so dimly lit that we wondered how the two chefs could see what they were doing. It made me feel like the decision was made to hide what's going on. Very odd, & frankly an unappealing design choice for the guest.

Now the food - we were first served a cold tomato soup, which was probably the best dish of the evening.

Next up was a tomato plate with two small pieces of bread, completely unseasoned tomato slices, & some miso-flavored butter. This is part of the theme here: fermentation & maceration.

At the same time a plate of'seasonal cabbage salad' was put down for us. There were slices of fennel & some scattered seeds.

The slaw was an odd dish, as I was under the impression that we would be eating farm-to-table dishes that reflect the height of the summer season. Cabbage? Not what I associate with summer.

Next up was a trout'grav lox' dish, with a very tiny portion of trout that didn't have any flavor remotely like grav lox. There was no hint of salt, dill, or other aromatics that you expect from the description. It was served with a garum foam & fish roe. I think foam in any dish just looks so unappealing, like a pool of saliva. So one bite of fish for each of us & it was finished.

Now it gets really odd. The next dish served was braised cabbage with kimchi & a tomato cream. This was the second dish served to us with cabbage. Where were the seasonal summer ingredients? Fresh garden vegetables like zucchini, peppers, corn, carrots, etc. I don't think of fermented kimchi as a summer seasonal dish that says anything about the region or terroir of Quebec.

Following that was a bison two ways dish. The bison was prepared as a tartare, & the other way was pan-seared. The tartare was basically unseasoned, which was a theme throughout most of the food we had. tartare is very common dish in Quebec, as most bistros & restaurants have at least one variety. One thing they always have in common is that the tartare is seasoned with capers, onions, herbs, & other seasonings. The tartare here was only served with a small amount of mustard seed mixed in. The seared bison was also completely without seasoning. On the plate was one very small roasted potato. This would be a small plate even for one person.

The next dish was one of the highlights. Lemongrass noodles with pork & some seasonal summer vegetables. This is more of what we were expecting. This dish was seasoned well, & had by far the most flavors of everything in the meal.

For the dessert course, we received an ill conceived shiitake & ginger flan. To me, mushrooms have no place in a dessert, & I couldn't have more than one taste of this unpleasant combination.

They also served a piece of baba, which was (I think) a buckwheat cake with sake & rose. The flavor of it was pretty good, but the cake had a very grainy, dry texture.

Overall, we were disappointed. In the variety of a tasting menu, we got two tomato dishes, two cabbage dishes, & mostly unseasoned foods in very small portions. I don't feel there was a value to the cost of our meal.

They have a beautiful place, & with some changes to the concept & the interior, this could be really great. As it is now though, I feel that it is not a place I would return to.

You can tell this is such a passion project. Gorgeous farm to table food. So flavorful & without comparison for the area.
The restaurant is situated beautiful in the landscape, & the building it self highlights the garden & the plants in such a nice way.
We were also able to order pinard & filles off the wine list, which we have never been able to get before.

Maison de Soma is such a special place in Mont Tremblant. The setting is stunning with open fields & beautiful views that make you feel completely relaxed. From the moment we arrived, everything felt welcoming & thoughtfully done.
The food was honestly amazing. Every bite tasted fresh & full of flavor, & you can really tell they use ingredients from their own farm. The menu is creative & changes with the seasons, which makes the experience even more exciting. The drinks were just as impressive, with unique house-made touches you won't find anywhere else.

The staff was warm, friendly, & so passionate about what they do. They made the whole experience feel personal & memorable.

If you're anywhere near Tremblant, make the time to come here. It's not just a meal, it's an experience you'll remember.

Lovely experience in the heart of nature!
We celebrated a birthday with a large group & were seated outside, enjoying a beautiful view of the fields & mountains. Despite it being a very busy day, the food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. Everything we tried was fresh, delicious, & perfectly prepared. If it weren't so far from Montreal, I'd definitely visit more often!

Beautiful food, beautiful setting, beautiful experience. This restaurant is what fine dining & farm to table should be. An absolute must visit in Mont Tremblant area. We sat at the bar & it made for a lovely night!

I recently had one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time, & I can't stop thinking about it. The chefs brought the food directly to the table, which added a personal touch & made the experience even more intimate. The presentation was stunning, each dish was beautifully plated with different stoneware dishes, making it almost too beautiful to eat (almost!) Everything, from the menu to the environment, worked harmoniously to ensure that this dinner wasn't just a meal, it was a true experience. This is the kind of place that leaves a lasting impression, & I can't wait to return.

This place is absolutely stunning. Love the restaurant & love the scenery. You buy a set course & you can choose to est inside at the restaurant or outside at the benches. They are a few benches with tarps if the sun is very strong. The food we ordered was good. I would say a little above average. It was a little difficult to justify the price we paid, especially they were all served in paper cups & plates. & we had to bring it ourselves from the counter to the outdoor seating area. We felt like we were having cafeteria lunch. Lol. We did not feel it was worth the price we paid. But don't get me wrong, the restaurant was very beautiful!

Really wanted to love this place as I love the farm to table concept & really value supporting small local businesses. But it didn't end up meeting expectations. Food was underwhelming (flavor, presentation) & service was mediocre. There is so much potential with the beautiful location & interior design - hope they make improvements as they grow.

Highly recommend visiting. Beautiful interior & exterior with locally sourced (mainly their farm) farm to table ingredients. Excellent wine selection with plenty of naturals. The owner is incredibly hospitable & makes you feel like a regular. If you are looking for a chic night, look no further.

To start off, the location is breathtaking! It must be even more beautiful in the summer & fall. If the top rating is 5 stars, then this restaurant deserves 8 stars. The service was excellent. The team was so well trained, it gave a different meaning to server, I found their skills & manner impressive. They earned my respect. It's not just being friendly & attentive; they need to know how to handle food in a sense of preparing it by finishing cooking & present it. The food was exquisite, nothing like have experienced before. This is one of those rare & extraordinary places that gives you much more than a meal, but a multi-sensory experience. A place that takes its food seriously. The restaurant decor was simple & tasteful with a lot of thought on presenting & experience the food, brought the patrons to a new dimension of experiencing food in a very different manner. Having been to so many great restaurants, I'm confidence to say this is one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at & it's not just about the great food but the whole package: The experience.

Maison de Soma is a welcomed addition to the Laurentians (Laurentides) area of Quebec, just a short drive away from Mont Tremblant. Off the beaten path, the surrounding around is lush with fields, gardens, crops & forest. Entering Maison de Soma is incredible to see as it has a stunning interior. You are immediately greeted at the door - unfortunately from a service standpoint you're just told that cost hangers are in the corner. A restaurant of this caliber (& price) should have someone assist with grabbing jackets to make you feel taken care of. We were there for brunch, & there is only 1 option - the $65 tasting menu for brunch. It's accompanied by $15-18 cocktails made beautifully with great local spirits, & wonderful ingredients. The cocktails were simple & great. Unfortunately again, the only option for coffee was a carafe of what looked like pour over; no option for lattés, cappuccinos. I would actually have a bigger expectation that they would do lattés made with matcha, or golden milk (turmeric) or milk steamers sweetened with something from the land such as mushroom. But nothing. The first thing I noticed about the menu was there was nothing sweet on the tasting menu, so to get a dessert, you had to purchase an additional addon which was available (& delicious), but another $12. This has already become the most expensive brunch I've eaten at. The food has a ton of Asian inspiration, but is almost a very Nordic style of eating - simple, clean, elegant & from the land. The first course was a barley porridge, which was warm & thoughtful, tasty pieces of well rendered pork, although slightly under seasoned. The second course came in the form of three sharing plates, which I was not a fan of at this price - just make individual plates. The cured fish again was mild in flavour, the major punch coming from the acidity in the ferments & pickles. I was really looking forward most to the porchetta as it was a cold day, & I was looking forward to warm & comforting pork. What we got was a shared plate with about 6 deli-thin slices of cold porchetta that was lacquered lightly with sauce & torched before being served - would have enjoyed it more hot & maybe a bit more wet from sauce. The bao bun with shallot was shoft & chewy, great texture, & the egg on rosti was very very good - although the way it read on the menu, I was reading it as we were missing a dish due to the printing of the menus had an error where this course read as two courses due to spacing errors, but really it was one dish covering two lines of the menu. From a food perspective, I can say the highlight dish was the add-on ginger custard dessert with quince & meringue. The meringue added texture that was slightly missing from the rest of the meal. Overall, the bill for two was $230 which places it the most expensive brunch I've ever had, & on par with the price of the three 1-michelin star restos I ate at in Italy this summer. I love the concept, I love the location & the ambiance & decor is beautiful. I could have done with the porridge, the egg & the dessert for $35, 3course prix fixe & the food would have then been a 4 or 5 star. Regardless....very happy to have this beautiful addition in the Tremblant region - & would still recommend.
