Maison Boulud at the Ritz-Carlton Montréal was a memorable dining experience & a wonderful example of elevated Montréal cuisine.
The restaurant itself is beautiful, with an elegant atmosphere that feels refined while still being welcoming. I dined in the covered outdoor seating area, which was a lovely setting, although it was quite cold during my visit. Thankfully, the staff provided a blanket upon request, which was a thoughtful touch & greatly appreciated.
The food was the highlight of the evening. I ordered the pork with grilled vegetables, & it was absolutely delicious. The pork was incredibly tender, beautifully prepared, & full of flavour. While the portions are quite small, the quality of the ingredients & execution make the price feel justified. This is the type of restaurant where you are paying for craftsmanship & experience rather than large portions.
The bread was also enjoyable, although I found the butter to be fairly average compared with the rest of the meal. It was a small detail, but at this level of dining, even the smallest elements stand out.
Service was good overall, but not quite at the exceptional level I would expect from a Ritz-Carlton dining experience. The staff were professional & accommodating, particularly when providing the blanket, but the meal moved quite slowly & the pacing could have been improved.
I originally came because I had seen information about a three-course menu at a set price point, which I later learned was only available during lunch service. However nowhere online nor on the menu posted outside the doors did it state this was specific to a set dining hour; which felt both manipulative & made me lose trust in the restaurant. I had already travelled 40 minutes to get there & had a reservation, so I stayed, but the restaurant really needs to improve its communication & transparency with advertised promotions.
Maison Boulud is not an inexpensive restaurant, but I do feel the price reflects the quality of the food, the setting, & the overall experience. The attention to detail in the cooking was evident, & the meal was genuinely memorable.
A beautiful restaurant with outstanding food that I would happily return to, provided they are more transparent & honest in what they communicate both online & street-facing. Given the concern with the three-course menu offering, according to Quebec's consumer laws, they should have been proactive in ensuring I received the advertised & expected dining experience.

Very exquisite French cuisine, incredible service. The staff were very kind, explaining every detail of each dish to us. It's a very pleasant dining room experience. The tables had plenty of room. Chairs were comfortable. There was enough noise to not be overhearing your neighbor's conversations & not so loud that you can't hold your own. We're staying at the Ritz-Carlton so this is also an extremely convenient option for us.
Maison Boulud offers refined French cuisine in an elegant yet relaxed setting. The service is impeccable, the dishes are beautifully executed, & the attention to detail shines in every course.
Nous sommes allés un dimanche à l'heure du brunch. Le cadre est élégant & l'ambiance très agréable. Le steak était excellent selon mon amie, mais mon plat de poisson manquait d'équilibre : la moutarde dominait trop les saveurs.
Un insecte s'est retrouvé dans l'un de nos mocktails. La serveuse a remplacé le verre après 10 minutes, mais sans excuse ni geste commercial, ce qui est décevant pour un établissement de ce niveau.
Malgré tout, le service est resté professionnel & nous avons laissé un pourboire de 50$. Une belle expérience dans l'ensemble, mais certains détails pourraient être mieux pris en charge.
Maison Boulud is hands down my favorite restaurant in Montreal. ⭐ I've been several times, & each visit is consistently exceptional. The food is always delicious; you can truly taste the quality in every single dish. ✨ The service is impeccable, the ambiance is refined yet welcoming, & the attention to detail is outstanding. One of my favorite parts? The madeleines they offer at the end are absolutely divine! 🥰 Every experience here has been memorable. ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ Maison Boulud propose une carte de vins & de boissons alcoolisées impressionnante, avec une grande variété qui se distingue par son raffinement & son originalité. Le service au bar est exceptionnel, probablement l'un des meilleurs à Montréal, grâce à des bartenders talentueux & attentifs. J'ai eu le plaisir de goûter leur "Cosmopolitan d'Occident", un cocktail unique à base de coriandre & de gingembre, qui m'a vraiment séduit. La présentation était spectaculaire : un cube de glace en forme de sphère contenant une délicate rose à l'intérieur . Ce genre de détail est un vrai plaisir visuel & témoigne d'un grand souci du détail. Sur recommandation, nous avons aussi essayé le "Trinidad Sour", un autre cocktail audacieux & parfaitement équilibré, qui mérite des éloges. L'ambiance du restaurant est calme, élégante & sophistiquée, idéale pour une soirée chic ou une occasion spéciale. Cependant, malgré cette atmosphère de luxe, le menu "tapas" mériterait d'être repensé. Le poulet pané frit que nous avons commandé était correct, accompagné d'une sauce maison savoureuse, mais sans éclat particulier. Les filets d'anchois, quant à eux, ont été décevants : une présentation ordinaire & des saveurs qui manquaient de caractère. Dans l'ensemble, Maison Boulud est un excellent choix pour son ambiance & ses cocktails, mais quelques ajustements au menu pourraient améliorer encore l'expérience culinaire.
Great experience here happened. We got best seats in the house facing their secret garden with a mini lake with ducks swimming in it. Service was great & food was delicious. Attention to details shows with the presentations of the dishes. Good job on that ! would recommend 👌
