Nice Japanese cuisine & consistently good in Quality
the service is average
The ambience is average
The music is somewhat loud sometimes
Delicacy ! Music a bit too loud but overall a pleasant experience... as always
Food is consistently solid. Fish is good, but not exceptional. Ambiance is warm & service is great. For non traditional sushi, it remains the best in the West Island.
Orders for takeout should be improved as the wait music is noise pollution & during busy times, one person answering the phone doesn't work.
We had such an exquisite dinner at this restaurant. The seafood was fresh & of great quality & the rice had a well balanced vinegary taste to it which made the sushi taste amazing while not overpowering the flavours of the other ingredients. The soya sauce was also delicious, a nice balance between sweet & salty which added onto the experience. The service was also great. The waiter was patient, friendly & quite polite which made the evening more enjoyable. Please do note that it did take us around an hour after we sat down at our table to get our food. The little things that did take us out a bit during the meal was probably the ceiling with all the ventilation running through that can be easily seen & the loudness of the music. Even though there were already a lot of customers talking, the loud music made it even harder to speak with each other at our own table. Finally, the price was a bit high in my opinion. It was 130$ for the omakase set for 2 people & 260$ for 4. I don't mind paying more but I would have loved to see a couple of sushi with some more expensive cuts like fatty tuna or scallops. We mostly only got rolls which felt a bit more boring to me but they still tasted great. The lobster dish though was quite adventurous & exquisite in taste which was refreshing in the meal.

We had not been to Maiko Sushi in quite a number of years. We had remembered it being quite good, but we were very disappointed last night. Although the food quality was indeed exceptional, & beautifully presented, everything else was pretty much a fail. The place is too noisy to carry on a proper conversation, with the back beat of the music adding to an already crowded restaurant, & the tables are placed so close together that the diners & servers could hardly pass through. In fact, our server had to interrupt taking our orders to let others pass by. Then there was the extreme tardiness of the service. It took 45 minutes for even our first courses to arrive, & about 90 minutes for the main course, by which time we were all very hungry. What truly disappointed me is that, despite the inordinate wait that at that pretty much negated how good the food itself was, no one offered anything to us to express a small token of gratitude for our patience. It though that this was very poor customer relations.

Music was a bit loud. A couple of items were missed on our order. It was extremely busy so took a while to get the server's attention to mention it. The missing items were served quite fast.

Great food , service, although the music is always much too loud ....

Fantastic fantastic food. A little noisy with the music but otherwise great!!

1. Background music was far too loud
2. Sushi pieces often fell apart
3. Very slow service

Beautiful Restaurant. Food Delicious & Service was great.
One of my favourite. Restaurants. My only small complaint, all four at our table, &, the one next to us agreed we didn't need the music in the background. All in all, always a pleasant experience.

This was my 4th time at Maiko & only time i found disappointing. The sushi rolls were not rolled tight enough therefore fell apart making them extremely hard to eat. Had reservations but the tables were so close & music in our area was loud so conversation was difficult. Have always had a pleasant experience so thought it would be a great place to celebrate my sons 40th birthday.

The food is, as usual, very good.
The techno music played by the restaurant is very loud & makes people must shout to hear each other - not quite a good ambiance to eat & talk to friends.

Excellent food & good service. Music is too loud, though. Makes having a conversation at the table with friends difficult. Best Japanese food in town, so worth it nonetheless.

Everything excellent but noise level is high with pulsing music

Went with 10 people for a work supper. The food is spectacular - I would go back for the Maiko salad alone, it was that good! Service was attentive, never an empty water glass, zero mistakes with orders. Generous servings, friendly & efficient service..... my ONLY complaint is that UT felt like u was jn a club. The music was way too loud & it was hard to talk. We yelled & had a good time anyway 😊 Best sushi restaurant I have been to - seems more creative than most sushi restaurants. Turn the music down a bit, but otherwise- the food was beautifully prepared, delicious & would recommend to anyone.

Maiko NEVER disappoints! The freshness, the variety, the presentation - 10/10. Mr Zucchini was very pleasant, great personality & sense of humour! One little suggestion, it gets really loud in the restaurant, maybe bring the music down a notch? Other than that, Love, Love, Love!!

Love, love, love Make sushi. Best sushi in Montreal.
Especially love the Sushi Pizza.
The service is first class.
But, the music is all wrong.. why play techno-pop in a sushi restaurant? It doesn't suit the style of the place, & not even the age of most of the clients.

Good: attentive waiters.
Bad: Too attentive. He came by when we were halfway through our meal to ask if we wanted the rest to go. We weren't done yet.
Good: nice decor.
Bad: Blaring dance music not appropriate for the "atmosphere". Lights are so dim, people were using their cell phones to see the sushi-checklist. Speaking of cell phones, make sure to bring yours - the menu (& wine list) are only available with a barcode.
Good: wine was good.
Bad: since we couldn't see the menu, we picked it out of the wall of wine bottles next to us. it cost 3 times the price we would have paid at the SAQ. Most restaurant wines are only double the price.
good: Degustation menu for 2 was a huge plate. The fresh fish - about one tenth of the plate - was sublime.
Bad: There was no need for Miso Soup to start - but it was tasty. The maki (9/10ths of the meal) had the fish mixed with some kind of creamy thing, mayo or something. Both the hot & cold maki. We felt it took away from the 'fresh' taste one would expect of this type of meal. We ordered Spicy Mayo - it was missing the "spicy" part.
Overall a bit disappointing.

Good service
Suggestion - please lower music just a bit
Too loud , meal was great
Can't wait to come back
Thank you
