We went for my boyfriend's birthday & everything was amazing! Got the oysters as appetizer - super fresh & delicious. For main we shared a steak cooked perfectly medium 👌👌 At the end they did put a candle on our dessert. 10/10 ❤? thank you!View more
If the review was based solely on the food it would be a 3 star review but the wait staff were excellent & it is a nice establishment. The positives in terms of food items were for me the Ceasar salad & for the GF the salmon tartare. However, my 10oz striploin main was of poor quality but cooked to a perfect medium rare. Basically the steak had no marbling hence lacked that buttery tenderness. My GF indicated the paste & lobster main was underwhelming. Lobster was skimpy & what there was, was tough. Will not return. But again the wait staff was superlative. No photos of the mains available.View more
I looked forward to trying Maggie Oakes & expected divine beef. On the waiter's suggestion I had the cheeseburger instead of Bavette steak. The burger meat was near tasteless with no seasoning evident. Lots of good toppings so it was okay overall but I expected better. The service seemed inexperienced & slow. It was hard to find someone when we wanted to pay the bill.View more
Was at Maggie's on 2025-05-29 @ 8PM, with a group of guys for a bachelor party. Most of use ordered steak, with half getting the 40 day aged, & the other have going with the 55 day aged. All were disappointed I highly contest that the steak was aged that long. To me it tasted like it was aged less than 25 days, if that. Aged steak can be pushed apart by your tongue, & everyone's steak, & I mean everyone's was chewy.
Besides being not aged as indicated, my steak tasted heavily of smoke, like it was being cooked over new coals that had not yet heated appropriately. Maybe it was a new chef, maybe quality is going down. In any case, I'm very disappointed, considering how much we spent on the food & wine that night. Will not be going back again.
To be clear, we did not inform the staff & know that we should have, they may have been able to do something. But with all steaks being not as expected, we figured why bother.View more
The steaks are high quality & the price definitely reflect that. However, the lobster & onion soup were let down. The lobster wasn't great & a bit dry (likely overcooked) & the onion soup has little to no soup, just a big chunk of onions inside. I would recommend just go for the steak which I would rate 5 stars & the lobsters & onion soup 1-2 stars. Otherwise, great service & atmosphere.View more
View more
Wow best steakhouse I've been too. Very good steaks. The service was super friendly & the atmosphere a little upscale. Looks like it's attached to a hotel. They had the aging steaks in a display case.View more
It's such a beautiful restaurant! I just went there for the Happening Gourmand with their 59$ 3 services menu. Everything was amazingly good & they have a really good cocktails for the occasion! I devoured all! My highlight was the 45 days aged steak, just wow! It melted in my mouth!View more
It was a little disappointing; my steak was a little tough & not what I was expecting. The service was exceptional. The atmosphere could be better & a little bit more quiet. The music in the background was a little difficult to enjoy. But I guess that's just me.View more
Visiting this establishment today, I ordered steak & eggs, but the steak was impossible to eat, the meat was not chewy, very tough & hard.View more
Great atmosphere but when arrived to attending my 55th birthday dinner with family last Dec 28th & checked in with host, my sister had clearly indicated to host that she solely made 1 reservation not 2 but male host continued to make strong argument with unprofessional tone. Secondly, when our main course arrived to our table 20mins later; to discover that my sautéed mushrooms, French onion soupe (bland & unwanted onion skins) & porterhouse steak every dish were overly salted (including fries) & due to personal health conditions, we could barely touch it & the red wine was like jelly texture when arrived to our table. Thirdly, when advise to waitress that we rarely drink wine & asked waitress what is your least dry wine, she had spoken to us in unprofessional tone that we should of known that you describe your wines as full body & some other terms which I don't quite recall. Otherwise, your crispy shrimp & grilled salmon & lentil begula salad was & why, weren't we informed that $3 would apply to my mother's of hot water? Thank you for taking our review seriously & hope to hear from you soon!View more
Beautiful restaurant with amazing food! If you are a steak lover, this is your place! Best French Onion Soup I have ever had. Bonus... Service is top-notch &View more
Cool looking place, dark ambiance & overall good food. To start, we had the beef tar tar & French onion soup- both awesome. The steak we had porterhouse & shared it. The flavours were great, I will say it was a tad overcooked but we enjoyed it. The sommelier was very helpful & the wine was delicious. Service could have been a touch better for what we paid. They did throw in a free dessert because it was our anniversary which was very nice, really appreciated that.View more
Wunderbar, lecker und perfekter Service, auch wenn das Steak bei " Medium plus" leider "well done" war. Absolut zu empfehlen, besonders für dry aged Freunde!View more
Expensive, nice ambience. Not the best steak. Wouldn't go backView more
We sat outside on the patio overlooking the square. Great atmosphere. They specialize in agreed steaks & ask if it's came out perfect. Food came out fast & the service was amazing. Again, like most restaurant here, we were never bothered to pay the check. We could talk & relax as long as we wanted to unlike in the States.View more
Absolutely phenomenal food & service. Our waiter was very tentative to us when we were dining. He asked for example oh did he give you the lemon water for when you're done with the lobster? & to top things off the food, the lobster & sirloin steak was absolutely amazing. The sirloin literally cut like butter & the lobster was delicious with the sweet potato friesView more
Expensive, portions not great. My steak was way too rare than the medium I requested. Also it wasn't easy to cut. Wouldn't returnView more
Best steakhouse I've been worldwide. Service is impeccable 👌. Great attention to detail. I highly recommend Maggie Oakes if you're looking for a very good steak 💯View more
Dining at this restaurant is always a pleasure. I selected this place to introduce my friends to one of Montreal's hidden gems, & once again, it exceeded all expectations. Despite the heavy rain outside, the staff remained kind, attentive, & welcoming throughout our visit. We started our evening with cocktails & wine in the central lounge, which offered a cozy, intimate setting. Although we arrived without a reservation, one of the managers accommodated us, providing a table in a particularly special spot near the vertical garden. The seating was comfortable, & the lighting was just right, enhancing the overall ambiance. Our waitress was friendly & attentive from the moment we sat down. The restaurant's atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between modern & elegant, making it suitable for any occasion. The music played at a perfect volume, allowing for easy conversation. As always, the food was outstanding. Every dish was crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients, & the variety of desserts was the perfect conclusion to our meal. The service was impeccable, with the staff going above & beyond to ensure we had an exceptional experience. I will definitely be returning & highly recommend the Steak Bavette, Salmon Tartare, the tropical cocktail, & of course, the desserts.View more
Servers are great! Inside dining is noisy but restaurant is nice & nicely appointed. Their signature aged beef is priced per ounce, but is prepared in pre-sliced 20oz portions...why not just list the cut by the actual price instead of forcing the customer to pull out the calculator to figure the price of the serving? We ordered the Flank Steak which admittedly is the lowest price cut, but I ordered it because I didn't want to try to polish off 20oz of steak for dinner. I've had flank steak before & still enjoyed it but in this case I was sorry I ordered it. It was tough, chewy, & flavorless. I would recommend the restaurant remove it from the menu.View more
Steak was overcooked. Most prices were reasonable but some felt a bit ridiculous. Also initially doublecharged on the bill which we had to point out.View more
Wow, that steak was as good as it gets, & with service to match, thanks Jean ClaudeView more
Superb dinner. Excellent server, very attentive, & setting on the street was fantastic for people watching. We had oysters & steak with a bottle of Sancerre. Kids menu also very good & they added veggies on request. All meals were excellent & good value too.View more
It's located in unique & vibrant Old Montreal. They offer dry-aged meats. The 45 days aged rib steak was awesome, rich flavor, tender & marbled. We were there at 9:30pm, didn't want to eat two much, but we didn't think the 20oz rib steak was enough for three of us lol, so delicious. The goat cheese was amazing, rich, smooth & creamy. The flank steak was so so, a bit dry.View more
