We intended to dine at Terrasse Perche which was closed when we arrived for our reservation. We then found this wonderful restaurant on the ground floor who kindly accommodated us last minute with no reservation at a low-top table on busy easter weekend (THANK YOU!!!!). Service was excellent, the waiter made great drink recommendations & the food was outstanding. We will come again on our next visit to Montreal!View more

Arrived before supper menu was available. Had salmon tartare with a garden salad. Tartsre was good, salad was great. Had a Shirley Rosemary to drink, delicious!

On nous à demander si nous fêtions quelque chose en particulier & on a répondu notre 17 iem anniversaire.....Nous avons reçu 2 beaux drinks sans alcools (ils se souvenait de ce détails que nous avions précisé au serveur au tout début . Quelle attention !!!

Great atmosphere but when arrived to attending my 55th birthday dinner with family last Dec 28th & checked in with host, my sister had clearly indicated to host that she solely made 1 reservation not 2 but male host continued to make strong argument with unprofessional tone. Secondly, when our main course arrived to our table 20mins later; to discover that my sautéed mushrooms, French onion soupe (bland & unwanted onion skins) & porterhouse steak every dish were overly salted (including fries) & due to personal health conditions, we could barely touch it & the red wine was like jelly texture when arrived to our table. Thirdly, when advise to waitress that we rarely drink wine & asked waitress what is your least dry wine, she had spoken to us in unprofessional tone that we should of known that you describe your wines as full body & some other terms which I don't quite recall. Otherwise, your crispy shrimp & grilled salmon & lentil begula salad was & why, weren't we informed that $3 would apply to my mother's of hot water? Took my daughter & her friend for dinner last night. It was supposed to be a special night. Ordered soup & drinks - not bad. When waiting for the mains, however, we waited almost 2 HOURS. This is unacceptable. If we had gotten a previous heads up stating that the wait would be so long, it would have been better. However, with being told it would be coming after 10 minutes repeatedly, the process became infuriating, & for compensation after the 2 hours of being there, the manager gave us the smallest piece of cheesecake I have ever seen & the thinnest slice of chocolate cake, only knocking off our drinks from the tab. Great place to have dinner & drinks. Staff was super friendly, they really care about the customer experience, there was a little confusion with out order but they corrected it so promptly & ensured we were happy with our service at all times. I tried the salmon grilled fillet & was so good. Cocktails are algo very good & the view to old Montreal plaza is very very nice. Worth it 100%!!View more

Our group of girls came here to celebrate a birthday & this place did not disappoint in any aspect. The atmosphere was great from decor to music volume. The food was very good, & all the drinks were delicious as well. As for the service, a very special thank you to our waiter Alec for taking care of our large group throughout the night. I decided to celebrate my birthday at Maggie Oakes this year & had no regrets other than missing out on their terrasse experience! By the time I was making a reservation about a week in advance their terrasse was already booked up so I went with a table inside. Our server Alec was exceptional, not only from the traditional point of view of being a professional with quick & friendly service but also going an extra mile to take pictures of us, 7 girls with very specific instructions LOL. Their steaks are amazing & they have enough vegetarian options to also satisfy non-meat-eating appetites in the group. Appetizers are really unique & flavorful. The drinks are nice & boozy unlike other places that charge you the same prices but put half a shot of alcohol & fill the glass with ice until it overflows.View more

I got there around 9h30pm a Sunday, got a table right away, & got a drink & my order taken within about 20 minutes. Took some time for the food to arrive, but it was packed & busy, & the waitress did her very best. Asked to use the restroom & got to visit the fine steaks boutique & hotel entrance. I left the restaurant around eleven o'clock & took a stroll in the Quartier des spectacles. Very pleasant experience!View more

Me & my friends visited Maggie Oakes at the recommendation of a local while visiting Montreal & I am SO HAPPY we went. All 8 of us left were so pleased with our experience! The food was incredible - the lobster pappardelle was to die for, others at the table got steak & burgers & were also very happy with their meals. The ceviche & prosciutto pizza were also delicious. The most stand-out thing about this restaurant though was definitely the service. The service here rivaled that of Michelin star restaurants i've been to. Our waitress was very attentive to our table, her drink recommendations were all so good, we had multiple people servicing our table, making sure we had water, providing fresh utensils, cleaning the table between dishes, etc. Not once did we have to wait for/ask to order, get water, etc. She was incredibly sweet, along with all the other staff. I'd highly recommend Maggie Oakes to anyone visiting Old Montreal. The quality of the food & service will blow you away!!View more

I had brunch here, & really enjoyed the atmosphere. The serving staff were all super friendly & helpful picking between two items when I was indecisive. I really enjoyed the Avocado toast I had, one of the very best. The only disappointing item I had was the Earl Grey Mocktail, which wasn't terrible, just not 10$ good for a non-alcoholic drink. We recently had an amazing meal at Maggie Oakes. The cheese board was such a treat. Two of us ordered steaks for our entrees & one of us pasta. All were delicious. Desserts & drinks were also very good. The restaurant felt cozy & comfortable. Our server was friendly & very capable but the restaurant was clearly short staffed as far as servers go. We had a lovely evening, a memorable meal & would definitely return.View more
