Is it even a trip to the Plateau if you don't stop at Ma Poule Mouillée? 🍗🔥 @mapoulemouillee
There's a reason the line is always out the door! From that signature charcoal-grilled Portuguese chicken to what many call the best poutine in Montreal (that spicy chorizo topping is a game changer), every bite is worth the wait. 🍟🧀
Did you know? Ma Poule Mouillée is famously located right across the street from Romados, creating one of the most delicious'chicken rivalries' in the world. Whether you're here for the classic quarter-chicken leg or the massive'Poutine Grande,' you're tasting a true Montreal landmark. 🇨🇦✨
Grab a seat, soak up the smells of the wood-fired grill, & don't forget the extra hot sauce! 🌶?

I recently returned here for the first time in about 10 years & was extremely disappointed. The poutine was not the miracle I tasted the first time & my chicken thigh meal was no better as the chicken just tasted greasy & I could barely taste the spicy piri piri sauce I asked for. The rice I got also tasted very bland.
This was a very strong disappointment for me. I expected them to live up to their fantastic reputation & it didn't even come close.
I'm genuinely baffled.
Incredible food, great service, massive (MASSIVE) portions. The larger poutine was shared between three adults & was still too much to finish.
This was a recommendation from a local cabbie on our way to LA Banquise (sp?) & the suggestion was spot on.
This place is absolute worst for the reviews & hype . We got whole chicken & 2 chicken poutines. The chicken is tooooo salty (not the sauce but the meat itself ) . Poutines are better at McDonalds than here. Not worth the buck & for the people who saw it on YouTube & want to try. Go try some local places who serve the best poutine . Place is over hyped for the shitty meals they serve
It was good, not than excellent. But it was nice, i took the poutine.
If I could give 0 star I would!! The poutine was way toooooo salty, so salty that it becomes inedible.. I really really don't understand the hype here cuz it's prob one of the worst poutine I've ever tried in Montreal. La Banquise right in front is much better but my favorite so far is still Alfa hot dog hehe.
Also, texture of the fries was really off too. Some were even undercooked. Avoid this place omg.
Ma Poule Mouillée is always a great choice for Portuguese chicken & I find they have the best poutine in the city. For the price, you are getting a huge portion & everything is amazing. I give their poutine a solid 9/10 with the star being the chicken & the sauce. The cheese curds are very good & the chorizo is also a nice touch. The fries are pretty good but are the lowest point of the dish. I can't express enough how good the chicken is, they nail it! If you come in the early evening, get ready to wait for a table but for lunch during the week it's perfect.
I had the chicken poutine for my first visit yesterday & it was absolutely delicious.
Great service as well!
Très cool, beau, bon, pas cher, bonne réputation.
Photo: salade repas, malade. La poutine aussi.
Great food & good prices! Portions are huge!! & I say this as someone coming from America! The poutine can easily serve 2-3 people. Bit of a wait but worth it.
We arrived around 10:15am & waited about 5 to 10 minutes while they finished their morning preparations. After that, there was no wait, & there were still seats available when we left around 10:45.
Although the menu was in French, we & many other customers were able to order in English without any issues. You may still want to translate the menu ahead of time to know what's available.
As many other reviewers have mentioned, a small poutine was more than enough for two people without being overly filling. The chicken, chorizo & cheese were very flavourful. For the price & taste, I would recommend this place.
We came to try their chicken/chorizo poutine after hearing good things about it. Service was okay, staff were generally friendly. The poutine itself came out okay. The grilled chicken was delicious, & sausage was flavourful, but the fries itself were cold & already made. It made eating the poutine itself difficult as the fries were cold & lacking in gravy. Overall, I would come back specifically for the chicken.
The poutine is good. I liked the coconut flan. we ordered a Chicken sandwich but didn't like it. Overall the place is good
LOVE IT! Best chicken in the city - the difference that charcoal makes is insane, the bifana is also so far the tastiest within Montreal. I just wish you would make 1/2 portion of small poutine, for one person the small portion is still very large & it is not reheatable.
Pretty solid poutine!
Never been much of a great poutine fan but I'd have to say the one I've had here left quite an impression & made me think otherwise.
Most poutine sold are simple & plain with just the gravy & the cheese curds, but Ma Poule Mouillée manages to change that by putting a creative spin on their dishes by offering a wide selection of different toppings & combinations, of which have been interesting to see, & hard to choose.
For myself, I had a La Scooby, which consisted of the regular poutine, with beef, deep fried pickles, bacon & cheese. It's really good, & the staff here are also friendly & food comes out relatively quick!
We did not have to wait for a table for 2, & thought we were lucky because the place was absolutely packed when we were seated. This also might be due to the bad weather at the time, but we were there around 1:30pm, on a weekend too.
The seating area however can be a bit cramped, so I find myself having to shift my chair in & out constantly to let people pass through.
Otherwise, I think it's a great stop for poutine if you're visiting Montreal! Worth every penny.
Best poutine I've ever had! Came around 12pm on a Friday & it wasn't that busy, we were able to grab a seat & enjoy it fresh.
My boyfriend & I finished a large poutine together & were full for a very long time, but it was so good.
