The'original' (highest spice) soup base is authentic & delicious. We have some doubts about other items on the menu, since the one less authentic addition (the sliced beef) doesn't quite fit with the flavor profile- but we would definitely recommend the noodle soup with the original broth + fish for an easy & satisfying meal. For reference, the bowl pictured easily serves twoVoir plus

Cute place tucked away behind a bubble tea shop.
The sauerkraut fish stew was amazing. The fish was tender & super flavourful.
The sweet & sour cabbage was probably the best I've ever had.
Can't wait to come back & try the grilled fish!Voir plus

Great spot to try if you love chinese food, especially if it's your first timer in Chinatown. Fast & friendly service!
I totally fell in love with this restaurant & I totally recommend to everyone!
Food is great : noodle, rice, appetizers, stir fry & grilled basa fish.

I recommend :
- grilled basa fish : so crispy, so flavorful , just the right amount of spices. There are no bones & it's a great dish to share.
- Lunch menu special : for only 9.99$, you get a soup base, noodles & protein, all customizable!
- Fried pork bites & if you are feeling adventurous, whole squid skewers.
- Legit any drinks. I had the mango sago, strawberry smoothie, brown sugar coconut milk taro & the Hong Kong milk tea & they were all amazing.Voir plus

Fish soup with pumpkin based broth was very tasty. Mild & not spicy at all. You can add extra toppings as you wish but the base topping was good enough for me.Voir plus

We found Mr. Fish on a recent trip to Montréal. Typical us, we travel to a new foreign city & immediately look to explore their Chinatown 😂. If I lived in Montréal, I could definitely see Mr. Fish becoming one of our go to staple restaurants. The space is small yet inviting & shares a building with a boba shop which we ordered while we ate. We knew we had a long day of traveling & exploring other restaurants so we wanted to keep our order light & decided to go with their signature sauerkraut fish stew with a side of shredded potatoes & smashed cucumbers. When the fish stew arrived the presentation was so charming & reminded us of eating in Taiwan. The rice they served was a heaping delicious mound & went perfectly with the spicy, sour & delicious soup. Service was kind & present, but not too overbearing. Much appreciated 🤙🏼. Definitely worth a visit!Voir plus

Wifey wanted some Asian food so I searched Chinatown. Out of 3 restaurants, she picked this one. She was concerned if we would be able to get a table on a Sunday night, but that was not an issue. It wasn't very busy. The restaurant did not have a lot of dining tables either & it's connected to Yi Fang drinks. She had her eyes set on sauerkraut fish stew as that's their specialty. We picked the house special one & had it at regular spicy level. The server said you could increase the spiciness but can't really lower it much. We stuck with the regular spiciness. It was still kind of burning as we mildly suffered & enjoyed the dish. We only had one bowl of rice & shared it, but it was a big heaping bowl so it was enough. Probably would have been less spice burning if we had more rice. lol We also got a grilled squid skewer. It wasn't much to write home about, but it was okay. That's all we got because I had planned on going to another place for dinner #2. We would go back for the sauerkraut fish stew again so 4 stars!Voir plus

been meaning to try this place for a while now & it did not disappoint. the house sauerkraut fish stew is so comforting with the super tender fish & flavourful soup. crispy pork is also well seasoned & very crispy (& honestly amazing portion for $10). love the sauce for the chicken & clam stir fry (ps the chicken comes with the bones for those who dont like that). the squid skewers are also good. was $80 total for everything so honestly very worth. could easily do $20 per person hereVoir plus

In the heart of Montreal's vibrant Chinatown, my quest for culinary exploration led me to M. Poisson, a quaint restaurant known for its unique dining proposition. It shares its space with Yi Fang, offering an intriguing option to pair meals with bubble tea-a delightful touch for those keen on a diverse dining experience. However, accessing M. Poisson presents a bit of a challenge due to its location. Like many establishments in bustling urban areas, finding parking can be tricky. Moreover, the restaurant's entry is stair-only, posing an accessibility issue for individuals with mobility impairments. Despite these logistical hurdles, the dining experience at M. Poisson is nothing short of remarkable. On a day when the allure of fish soup eluded me, I opted for a custom order, substituting fish with beef in my soup, complemented by wood ear mushrooms & a side of rice. Even though the restaurant was not crowded, with just one other table occupied, it was clear that M. Poisson thrives on a brisk trade of takeout & delivery orders. Impressively, this did not detract from our service speed, as our meals arrived promptly. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the spicy sauerkraut soup base. Its masterful blend of spice & sourness was a palate pleaser, perfectly complementing the generous portions of beef & mushrooms. The pricing was the cherry on top, offering great value for such quality fare. M. Poisson has certainly earned its spot on my list of must-visit restaurants. Its blend of quality, value, & unique offerings, despite the minor inconveniences of location & access, make it a worthwhile location.Voir plus

I regularly get takeout from here. Piping hot fish soup is especially nice on a cold winter day. Generous portion & fair prices. The Schezuan Peppercorn & the Spicy Sauerkraut are my go to. The only thing I would improve is the consistency. Sometimes the soup is lacking in seasoning, or isn't spicy enough. Other than that, great spot for comfort food.Voir plus
