The restaurant has a very nice interior & friendly service. There are many types of pasta with some original & rather unique sauces, & they even offer a small salad as a complimentary starter, which is a nice touch.
The main dishes were good, but the virgin mojito was disappointing, & the desserts were actually quite underwhelming. The place feels quite touristic, with average prices for that area of Montreal.
It was also very cold inside, which made the experience less pleasant. Overall, I wouldn't go back, but it's fine for a casual meal if you're nearby.
my husband & I had late lunch here yesterday. What a sweet place. The decor/ambience is lovely. Our server was Alison - she was so friendly & helpful, not only in suggesting dishes to try, but giving us a little history & information about the area where we would be walking & what to see & do.
My husband had a fettuccine with burrata & I had macaroni with wild boar & pancetta. Both were very good. Be ause we went mid-afternoon, they were not busy from the lunch hour, & we never felt rushed. A really pleasant & relaxing lunch.
We had a great meal there. It was absolutely tasty. There is an all-you-can-eat salad buffet with every main course. But the dishes are so big, that you don't need much salad.
The service was so friendly & helpful! We really enjoyed our dinner.
We visited this restaurant around 7:00pm on a weekend, & there was a surprisingly long line-we ended up waiting about 40 minutes before getting seated. Since we really wanted to try their food, we came back the next day around 11:30am for lunch, & luckily, there was no wait at all! If you want to avoid the crowd, I highly recommend coming for an early lunch instead of dinner.
The pasta dishes were the highlight-we ordered the red pasta with steak & the lobster pasta. The red sauce was rich & flavorful, but unfortunately, the steak (which we requested medium) came out dry & overcooked. The lobster pasta, however, was fantastic-creamy, well-seasoned, & much better than the beef dish.
For dessert, we tried the crème brûlée & tiramisu. The crème brûlée had a unique floral hint, which made it stand out-definitely worth ordering! The tiramisu, though, was a bit disappointing-it leaned too dry & sweet for my taste. I prefer mine more moist with a stronger coffee bitterness.
Overall, a solid spot for pasta (especially the lobster!) & crème brûlée, but the steak & tiramisu could use some improvement. Go early to skip the line!
Love the menu concept that was named after places in Montreal. Came here twice so we've got to try several dishes here & we love them all. Free salad bar & bread as appetizers both for lunch & dinner. The staffs were also amazing. Lovely space to visit if you come to Old Port (small note that it's first come first serve, they don't take reservations)
Wonderful pasta place.
Excellent meat dishes. Very courteous staff.
All-you-can-eat bread, garlic butter & salads with any main dish.
Wait time is about 15 minutes around 8PM.
Portions were reduced since last visit
The food was great.
Our second time here decided to try different dishes. I usually have the same thing when I find a dish i like. I tried a different dish, & it was delicious. But had to have the mushrooms garlic & herbs, it's our favorite. Great atmosphere & relaxed feel.
If you are in old Montreal & craving for pasta. I recommend this place.
Pasta dishes were good & the portions were healthy & generous. I had the lamb chops that were seasoned perfectly with a touch of sweetness. The pesto pasta that accompanied it was VERY garlicky so be forewarned. My husband had the special pasta of the evening which was a sausage & rapini orecchiette & my mother in law & daughter shared spaghetti with 2 generous sized meatballs that they bot enjoyed. Was also a really great atmosphere.
L'Usine de Spaghetti: A Charming Experience with Room for Improvement ⭐⭐⭐⭐ L'Usine de Spaghetti offers a delightful step back in time with its whimsical, rustic atmosphere. Nestled in the heart of Old Montreal, the restaurant transports you to another era with its time-period themed furnishings. The ambiance alone is worth the visit, earning a full 5 stars. Our hostess was incredibly attentive & welcoming, making us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. The service throughout the meal was impeccable, deserving another 5 stars. However, the food itself, while decent, didn't quite live up to the enchanting atmosphere or the excellent service. We'd give the dishes a 3 out of 5. While the portions were generous & the ingredients fresh, the flavors lacked a certain depth & complexity. Overall, L'Usine de Spaghetti provides a memorable dining experience thanks to its unique ambiance & outstanding service. With a little more attention to the nuances of flavor in their dishes, this restaurant could easily reach a 5-star rating.
Right in the heart of Old Montreal, next to Place Jacques Cartier. Food was very good & reasonably priced. Service is quick & friendly. Lots of choices for pasta dishes & includes an AYCE salad bar. I've been back a few times now & the food is consistently good. No reservations possible.
Food was great. We had 3 different pasta dishes. All three were delicious. Tiramisu & Mousse au chocolat were fantastic. Service is great. Will be back
Food is quite good & its IPA is fairly good of taste so I ordered additional one during my lunch. However, the free salad bar will be available only the case whole member order their each food not sharing the less dishes than whole member. The appetizer bread is quite tasty to boom up of taste.
This was a nice dining experience if you're craving Italian food in the old montreal area! Not only are their pasta dishes massive, but they have an ayce salad bar & complimentary bread & butter! This definitely made the experience more enjoyable. The staff were super friendly & the food was delicious! Definitely coming back here when I visit montreal!
This is a good place to stop by. I ordered spaghetti with meatballs & pesto pasta with salmon. The dishes weren't amazing but were tasty. You can also enjoy the complimentary salad bar, which adds value. If you're looking for high-end Italian food, this may not be for you, but if you're a hungry tourist wanting a nice meal while sightseeing in the Old Montreal area, this is a valuable option.
Service, atmosphere & salad bar good but food is not very good! Complementary bread was dry & tasted like frozen bread. Overall, I think the price for what we got was good considering it was in the middle of old montreal. It felt like it was a place for tourists! The main dishes were too salty & felt like I could have made them at home. Mushroom risotto: not a lot of mushrooms, oily & lacked flavour. Lobster pasta: nothing amazing The sauce lacked character. Lamb chops & pesto pasta: nice lamb chops & pasta was pretty good. Would recommend out of all the dishes. Salad bar: fresh salad & side dishes!
This family run restaurant in Old Montreal has been a favorite of mine for years! I hadn't been there since before Covid & was thrilled to know it survived! It was absolutely wonderful. The salad bar was still there & the pasta dishes were as delicious as always. The prices are great. The restaurant is in a beautiful old building. Don't miss this place!!!
The pre-meal bread was tasty, & most of the dishes were okay. It's just a bit regrettable that everything took a long time.
Found this place on a whim after skating around the corner. It was exactly what we were looking for. Generous portions that included a salad bar, great atmosphere (it's cozy, but we really like that). All of our dishes were delicious. I recommend the pesto pasta with the lamb chops. The server was friendly, knowledgeable, & made us feel welcome. Definitely recommend this spot as an easy/casual hit up while in the city.
