In fall 2007, the chefs of Joe Beef restaurant opened a new restaurant, the Liverpool House, located next to the Atwater market and numerous antiquarians of Notre-Dame St. With a menu that changes every week, the Liverpool House offers seasonal dishes inspired by ingredients found in the market.
Overall, Liverpool House is described as a refined yet welcoming Montreal standout where signature dishes like beef tartare, lobster pasta and steak frites regularly impress, and the service is for the most part attentive, knowledgeable, and warm with an atmosphere that ranges from casual to upscale. The vibe is repeatedly praised as cozy, lively, and unpretentious, with a strong selection of oysters and cocktails adding to the experience. While many reviews rave about high quality ingredients and thoughtful recommendations, some note occasional inconsistency in mains, saltier dishes, and moments of crowding or rushed service when the room is busy, and a sense that price can be steep. Reservations are often advised, and the terrace or bar seating is highlighted as a plus, making it a memorable destination for both special occasions and casual nights out in Montreal.
If you are looking for a great dining experience, this is the place to choose. The terrace is very cozy, the service is A+, & the food is amazing. The breakfast sandwich is a must, even if it sounds weird for dinner. We shared everything as this way we were able to try more things. A great experience from beginning to end; I will definitely return!

Did not expect the level of cuisine coming out of this place. The food was delicious, & the staff were exceptionally friendly. Loved every minute of it!
Toujours un plaisir de manger au Liverpool! Evidemment le spaghetti au homard est un incontournable, mais tout y est délicieux! Le service est toujours impeccable également! Dommage qu'ils n'aient pas de machine espresso par contre!
Dined with my husband & daughter, our waiter Elliot was pleasant & our food was good until they brought our daughters chicken - there was a thick black hair stuck to it. Obviously we sent it back but the waiter didn't even apologize he just took the plate & left & they sent a new chicken. I would've at least expected someone to come & say sorry about that but they didn't & they still charged for the chicken (it was only $15 & our bill was over $500 due to the good wine we got but there was just no effort to show any kind of gesture for what happened).
Overall - food is fine, nothing amazing, wouldn't return regardless of the hair situation.
Just to note, while waiting for our table, we asked a staff member what was the major difference between there & the sister restaurant, Joe Beef, & he basically said the quality was lower here & that in JB they use higher quality cuts of meat etc. so I guess from that statement we shouldn't have expected too much. Can definitely tell that Dave is no longer involved.
Really cool spot! Food was fresh & delicious & reasonably priced for what it was. The ambiance was great & this is a great place to hit up on a Friday night.
I had a really wonderful experience at Liverpool House in Montreal & would definitely recommend it! The atmosphere was warm, inviting, & had a great vibe, making it a perfect spot for a memorable meal. The service was top-notch-our server, Cecile, was absolutely excellent, bringing enthusiasm, knowledge, & genuine care to our table, which made the evening even better.
The food was delicious & well-executed. We started with the sourdough bread, which was fresh, crusty, & delightful. The beef tartare was a standout, bursting with flavor & perfectly seasoned. The six raw oysters were fresh, briny, & beautifully presented. The lobster spaghetti, while well-prepared with rich flavors, wasn't the highlight for me personally, but still very enjoyable. Each course arrived with perfect timing, keeping the meal relaxed & pleasant.
For dessert, the chocolate cake was rich, decadent, & a fantastic way to end the night. The value was impressive-everything felt well worth the price for such a high-quality experience. Liverpool House delivered a fantastic dining experience, & I'm excited to come back!
