I was celebrating my Birthday & decided to go to Liuyishou for a very small celebration. None of my company including me have ever been to a hotpot so this is our first time.
*No. of pax: 3
*Date of visit: January 13, 2026 (Tues)
*Service: dinner; AYCE
*Price: $33.95 + $20.95 for soup (we chose 2 flavour broth for $18.95 + $2 since we chose the coconut au poulet).
*Time we came: around 6:00 in the evening.
When we came in, there was only 1 table occupied so no long wait. Since it was our first time visiting the restaurant & doing hotpot, we relied on our server to help us with choosing the broth & while I did read reviews prior to coming which mostly were good but taste is subjective so we indeed need help from the server.
The server (sorry, I did not get the name) was helpful & recommended Japanese Sukiyaki Broth & the new one which is the Coconut Soup with Chicken but with an additional $2 on top of the $18.95.
We went with it but unfortunately, we did not like the coconut soup at all. It just taste weird in our (3 of us) opinion - & my husband eats almost everything but even him, he did not like it & did not want to eat it. I don't know how to describe it except that it just tasted weird; like sugar water & barely there coconut taste (if that makes sense). The Japanese Sukiyaki was good but the (replacement) Beef Bone Soup is okay.
We asked if we could have it replaced since there is no way we could eat it & it was such a waste of money. The server informed us that it can be replaced. Supposedly there is charge for replacement but since we were newcomers to the restaurant she waived the charge. Good thing she did because I paid an additional $2 for the coconut soup only for it to go to waste.
There is a handful selection for meat, seafood & cooked food while a lot for veggies, noodles, chef's recommendations & soybean products. Dessert is included: ice cream, one with tapioca & fruits etc.
What we ate mostly is the premium sliced beef (you can choose between lean & fatty) & some seafood so we could get the most of what we paid.
There is also a bar to make your own dipping sauce - it is clean & well organized. You can find the fruits here, a salad & the tapioca dessert.
There is small buffet for hot foods beside the sauce bar but honestly it looked sad. The chicken wings seemed overcooked & very dry - did not try it because of that. There was sesame balls which was hard to bite - maybe they cooked it few hours ago, there was a pork dish; tried it & it tastes sweet, spring roll & fries.
Drinks are not included.
Overall for the food I'd give it 3 stars. I apologize but we felt like, we would've been satisfied if we ate elsewhere.
Service: It is ~good. For I think the first hour we were there, there was only one server so we had to wait a while to place an order since you can only order via the server. It was fine.
Female washroom: it was clean which made me happy. Male washroom I don't know. The men I was with did not go.
Pricing: I am okay with the price since most AYCE is at almost or the same price range. However I was surprised that the minimum percentage you can tip is 18%. While I understand that tipping is necessary - & of course I am okay with tipping but I don't want to be sort of obligated to tip 18% when the minimum'required' or baseline tip is 15%. I did not say anything since it was my Birthday so I went along with it. I've been to different AYCE all over Montreal area & so I know 15% is acceptable especially for a very small group.
Would I recommend it: If you like hotpot then give it a try. Personally & as well as for the people I was with, it wasn't for us so I don't see us coming back. We may try other hotpots though in the future. Like I said, taste is subjective but for the 3 of us it just wasn't it.
I rated 4 stars overall despite of the experience because maybe it was us; maybe we're the problem lol. I do not want to give a bad rating just because we wished that we went elsewhere for my Birthday. Try & maybe you'll like/love it.

Amazing experience! The soup base was incredibly rich & flavorful, & the ingredients were super fresh. Definitely one of the best hotpots I've ever had. Highly recommend!

Très belle découverte ! On a pris le repas du midi à volonté, on s'est régalé ! Les serveurs étaient parfait pour tout nous expliquer ! (Attention, le prix de la soupe s'ajoute au prix des ingrédients à volonté)

Delicious hotpot with an abundance of soup base selections! I came here twice in 2 days! 🤣& this very hot (sweet, white long sleeve semi see thru t- shirt) guy sat next to me. 😉🤣I so wanted to say'hi' to him but he was with an older gentleman & so I got shy🙂???. He apologized for having his coat & blue backpack cross onto my side. What a gentleman! If ur reading this! My ig handle is my name above! DM me & let's go on an old school date🤣! Now back to food. I got a dual pot- vegetarian tomato & spicy. Great place for both vegetarian & meat lovers! I came by myself & found it so easy to order as it's AYCE. I always travel alone & find AYCE such a great idea for solo travelers! What a great restaurant! & all the forward facing staff were so kind, sweet & fast in their service! Really top notch & ultra friendly staff!!👏! Sorry I didn't get your names. & the staff in the photo was incredible too! She didn't want her photo taken but I accidently took it. So pls reach out to me if u want me to take it down! Sorry! But ur great service should be recognized! & so should the gentleman today! But I didn't get his name.

We had a group of 4 last night, & we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. One of my friends, who had never tried Chinese hotpot before, even gave it a 10/10.
There are plenty of options in every category-meats, seafood, & vegetables-& the variety of soup bases is impressive. We also loved the small buffet station & the separate area with an extensive selection of dipping sauces.
The service was outstanding. The manager, Bo Hao (I believe that's his name), was incredibly friendly & patient, even as we kept placing additional orders. Thanks to the help of their adorable robot, our food always arrived at lightning speed!
Overall, we all agreed that this experience exceeded our expectations. An'A' rating is well deserved!

Good hot pot with nice assortment of meats & vegetables. Also has some appetizers like spring rolls & edamame. There is also dessert in the form of ice cream & sesame balls. Think it is a bit pricey for what you get. Went on the weekend so there was an additional charge of a few dollars. Premium meats cost more. The pricing model in general is a bit confusing. You pay for the AYCE plus you have to pay for your soup base. & you pay more for going on the weekend.

I had a great time at Liu Yi Shou Hotpot. The food was fresh, the soup base was super tasty, & there were lots of options to choose from. I especially liked the spicy broth - not too overwhelming but really flavorful. The staff were friendly & helpful, & the vibe was cozy & fun. Definitely a good spot to hang out with friends & enjoy a nice hotpot meal.

I cant say i enjoyed my experience at all. The mild spicy soup base was extremely spicy but there was no other flavour in the soup, it was water with chili & oil. We had to salt our own food & even the mushroom broth was bland & very one note. Not a ton of flavourful options for vegetarians either. Potato, spinach, fried dough or tofu... there are much better places to eat for the same price. I would not recommend or come back

Firstly, we sampled the new Lunch Menu which includes a choice of soup base, choice of noodles or rice, choice of meat (or vegetables), condiment bar, & a make-your-own sauce bar, all for the ridiculously low price of $22.99. Seriously, it's a very generous portion. Also new are the equally delicious Cape Codder & Sangria drinks, of which we had an entire pitcher of each, & the Matcha & vanilla ice creams for dessert! One of our favorite parts is the make-your-own-sauce bar. They have several recipes to follow, but we love creating random concoctions of our favourite flavors. We highly suggest you come here & bring friends! (It's fun in groups!)

First time & not the last! Great service from Bohao, went there for lunch with a friend. We took the lunch set menu at $22,99 one lamb & the other beef. It came with a soup base (tomato broth for me), sauce bar, nice chicken wings & pineapple.

This is my go to hotpot spot in Montreal. They have ingredients that other spots don't have such as BAMBOO MUSHROOM. I love it so much. The soup base is always spot on. I always choose either the laksa or chicken. Speaking of which, I'm going back tonight lol.

The food was amazing, the duck soup base was so good! The service was pretty fast & the staff were very friendly :) Vixi was so nice & friendly, & would often check up on us to make sure everything's good

Service was fast & staff is super friendly 10/10 Food was amazing 10/10 Seafood laksa soup broth was so good, not too spicy (just the perfect amount) Plum juice was a very good pair with the meal. Our waitress vixi was so sweet & nice. Never messed up our orders & always smiling :)
