I was celebrating my Birthday & decided to go to Liuyishou for a very small celebration. None of my company including me have ever been to a hotpot so this is our first time.
*No. of pax: 3
*Date of visit: January 13, 2026 (Tues)
*Service: dinner; AYCE
*Price: $33.95 + $20.95 for soup (we chose 2 flavour broth for $18.95 + $2 since we chose the coconut au poulet).
*Time we came: around 6:00 in the evening.
When we came in, there was only 1 table occupied so no long wait. Since it was our first time visiting the restaurant & doing hotpot, we relied on our server to help us with choosing the broth & while I did read reviews prior to coming which mostly were good but taste is subjective so we indeed need help from the server.
The server (sorry, I did not get the name) was helpful & recommended Japanese Sukiyaki Broth & the new one which is the Coconut Soup with Chicken but with an additional $2 on top of the $18.95.
We went with it but unfortunately, we did not like the coconut soup at all. It just taste weird in our (3 of us) opinion - & my husband eats almost everything but even him, he did not like it & did not want to eat it. I don't know how to describe it except that it just tasted weird; like sugar water & barely there coconut taste (if that makes sense). The Japanese Sukiyaki was good but the (replacement) Beef Bone Soup is okay.
We asked if we could have it replaced since there is no way we could eat it & it was such a waste of money. The server informed us that it can be replaced. Supposedly there is charge for replacement but since we were newcomers to the restaurant she waived the charge. Good thing she did because I paid an additional $2 for the coconut soup only for it to go to waste.
There is a handful selection for meat, seafood & cooked food while a lot for veggies, noodles, chef's recommendations & soybean products. Dessert is included: ice cream, one with tapioca & fruits etc.
What we ate mostly is the premium sliced beef (you can choose between lean & fatty) & some seafood so we could get the most of what we paid.
There is also a bar to make your own dipping sauce - it is clean & well organized. You can find the fruits here, a salad & the tapioca dessert.
There is small buffet for hot foods beside the sauce bar but honestly it looked sad. The chicken wings seemed overcooked & very dry - did not try it because of that. There was sesame balls which was hard to bite - maybe they cooked it few hours ago, there was a pork dish; tried it & it tastes sweet, spring roll & fries.
Drinks are not included.
Overall for the food I'd give it 3 stars. I apologize but we felt like, we would've been satisfied if we ate elsewhere.
Service: It is ~good. For I think the first hour we were there, there was only one server so we had to wait a while to place an order since you can only order via the server. It was fine.
Female washroom: it was clean which made me happy. Male washroom I don't know. The men I was with did not go.
Pricing: I am okay with the price since most AYCE is at almost or the same price range. However I was surprised that the minimum percentage you can tip is 18%. While I understand that tipping is necessary - & of course I am okay with tipping but I don't want to be sort of obligated to tip 18% when the minimum'required' or baseline tip is 15%. I did not say anything since it was my Birthday so I went along with it. I've been to different AYCE all over Montreal area & so I know 15% is acceptable especially for a very small group.
Would I recommend it: If you like hotpot then give it a try. Personally & as well as for the people I was with, it wasn't for us so I don't see us coming back. We may try other hotpots though in the future. Like I said, taste is subjective but for the 3 of us it just wasn't it.
I rated 4 stars overall despite of the experience because maybe it was us; maybe we're the problem lol. I do not want to give a bad rating just because we wished that we went elsewhere for my Birthday. Try & maybe you'll like/love it.
super good broth, good service, ayca that's worth what you pay. LULU was an amazing waitress
Loved the service from our waiter Bohao! He made sure that everyone was well taken care of- my little one was watching her show & he came & gave her a phone stand, my friend forgot to bring a hair tie & he gave her one (even gave her options which one she wanted) & he also provided us with aprons so our clothes won't get dirty!
We made a reservation for a group of 18, & we were warned that the buffet has a time limit of two hours but if there's no reservation on our tables after, they won't rush us to leave!
We celebrated our friend's birthdays & they gave them a tote bag & a fan as a gift!
Food was good, we took their lunch menu buffet which was I think 27$ on top of the broth (which is around 9-18$ each). There wasn't that much option but we still enjoyed it! The snack bar & the sauce bar was available as well- you can get as much fries, spring rolls, chicken wings, Chinese sausage & desserts as you want!!
We usually do hot pot at home but our experience today was good that we collectively said we'll come back! Highly recommend!
Great spot & great service. They had a ton of veggies & a handful of tofu options. Best of all, they had two veggie broths (egg & dairy free). There is also a decent amount of condiments & sauces to choose from (which are included). The food was fresh & tasty. Compared to other hot pot restos, this one is a bit more pricier & it's not all you can eat. Great experience overall
Highly recommend this place! Food was so good, meat was amazing & the veggies were so fresh. Viki was our server & we loved her. She was super friendly & always more then happy to answer our many questions & provide recommendations. One of the members in my party is a pescatarian, & Viki made sure to go over all the broth options available for them along with having a separate set of utensils that were marked to make sure everyone could enjoy the food. Great night, great food, great service.
Very good hot pot place. Pick your broth, & then order all the meat (beef, chicken, seafood of various types) veg, etc you want. Hint, the broth isnt salted so add some to taste. While the meat is coming & the broth is warming up at your table, go make your own dipping sauce & pick up some fruit, salad, etc from the self serve bar. Top it off with an ice cream cone. Plan on CAD$50/person, but it was a fun night out & a new experience for us.
The food is great, their prices are affordable & the ingredients are fresh, the meats were especially nice. Love that you can customize how spicy the broth is. However the service wasn't great. They're friendly & polite, but really slow to come speak to you. The food comes out fast, but we waited a long time to place an order, then almost an hour for the bill.
It was a great hot pot place! The broth was excellent & the service was awesome. Our server Vixi was very attentive & helpful! The price is well worth what we got, the meat & veggies are fresh & of good quality. Their watermelon juice is to die for on a hot summer day.
Had dinner at Liuyishou Hotpot Montreal & honestly, it hit the spot. The broth was super flavourful (we got the chicken coconut one, mushroom & beef bone), & there were so many options to cook - fresh veggies, thinly sliced meats, seafood, you name it. I loved the sauce station too & especially the homemade sauce for the coconut chicken broth you can mix & match however you like, which made it feel really personal. The also have homemade noodles & udon! The vibe was cozy, the staff were kind, & it's a great place to go with friends when you want to linger over a meal. Would definitely go back!
Came here with my friends & greatly enjoyed our experience here!! Had Vixi serve us & she was so friendly & helpful. It feels clean & the ingredients are so fresh :) We got the tomato & laksa broths & they were delicious. I also recommend the yuzu pitcher!!
Went here only a few times. Server Gara was very kind & helpful. All the service was top notch. Food was fantastic too. I got the medium spicy house broth & it was incredible. Expensive but enjoyable.
Liu Yi Shou Hotpot was really nice Everything was clean & well-organized, & the ingredients were super fresh. the meat & veggies cooked quickly in the broth. It was a chill & relaxing dinner - perfect for a casual night out. I'd totally come back again!
I had a great time at Liu Yi Shou Hotpot. The food was fresh, the soup base was super tasty, & there were lots of options to choose from. I especially liked the spicy broth - not too overwhelming but really flavorful. The staff were friendly & helpful, & the vibe was cozy & fun. Definitely a good spot to hang out with friends & enjoy a nice hotpot meal.
Had such a great time at Liuyishou! The broths were super tasty, & all the ingredients were so fresh. It's always fun cooking everything right at the table. Our waitress, Vixi, was awesome-so friendly & helpful! She gave us great tips & made sure we had everything we needed. Honestly, the food & service were both amazing. Can't wait to come back!
An AYCE hot pot restaurant with a good selection of broth. The staff took the time to explain the choices & pricing policies. Checked for allergies, not that I needed it. They gave us a disposable apron which was a first for me. Unlike some other hot pot places, they didn't push us food that I would consider fillers.
Thank you for Le & Alex for the amazing service, fast & efficient. We took the japanese broth & korean army soup!
I cant say i enjoyed my experience at all. The mild spicy soup base was extremely spicy but there was no other flavour in the soup, it was water with chili & oil. We had to salt our own food & even the mushroom broth was bland & very one note. Not a ton of flavourful options for vegetarians either. Potato, spinach, fried dough or tofu... there are much better places to eat for the same price. I would not recommend or come back
I love the sauce selection, fruits & side dishes. Clean place & amazing broth. The rest is self explanatory, all you can eat for a price.
Actually the 1st time we went in March everything was perfect from broth to service. The 2nd time I brought my family we were very disappointed. The broth tasted watery after explaining to the waiter he said it s normal. I explained to him last time it did not taste like this. Finally he accepted to give a little more sauce. But even though the taste was not the same. Also the waiter came only once to add the broth which look just plain water. Also first time we went they did never rush us but this time just 5 minutes before the 2 hours they told us last call for food but not for dessert. Then when as soon we start ordering dessert they said last call. The restaurant was not full & I did not expect they will rush us like this. Was thinking of bringing more families & friends but unfortunately this restaurant is out of my list.
