Discover Cambodian cuisine in this resto-bar located in Verdun. Located on one of the most beloved streets of Montreal, Street Monkeys is the perfect place to enjoy a dinner with friends or family.
Overall, reviews describe Les Street Monkeys as a vibrant spot offering inventive Cambodian-inspired cuisine with a strong emphasis on sharing plates, where many dishes and flavors are praised, from papaya salad and wasabi shrimp ceviche to stuffed wings, cod in coconut curry and other fusion twists. The service is repeatedly noted as attentive and friendly, and the bar program with cocktails earns frequent praise, along with a lively, colorful ambiance that is great for groups, dates, or casual nights out. A few comments point to small portions for the price and occasional inconsistency across dishes or noise level, and some diners note that tasting or fixed menus for larger groups can feel limiting. Nevertheless, the overall takeaway is a memorable, creative dining experience with high quality ingredients and thoughtful presentation, making it a go-to spot for exploring Cambodian-inspired flavors in a convivial setting.
Great food, service & ambiance at this restaurant! I had the stir-fry vegetables & chicken skewers. Both were delicious with an a lot of ginger & garlic. Make sure to get the sticky rice to capture all of the sauce.
I had high expectations after hearing great things about this place, but unfortunately, it really didn't live up to the hype. The food lacked flavor & was overly oily, which made the experience underwhelming (the beef sausage notably did not taste good!!!) We tried four different dishes between the two of us, & sadly, none was good-except for the papaya salad, which was just okay. Maybe we were just unlucky, but overall not good :( & very small portions for the price! Do not recommend.
I enjoyed the food. Service was excellent. Ambiance was … meh .. a bit loud & seats were not particularly comfortable. However, portions were very small & very expensive. With tax & tip it was close to 400$ for 3 of us. Too much for me.
The food was delicious, though the portions felt a bit small for the price. The atmosphere was great, & the staff were friendly-just a little too quick at times. Overall, I enjoyed the experience & will definitely go back!
SO GOOD!! This restaurant had been on my list for so long & I am so glad I finally went. Everything was top notch from service to atmosphere & of course, the food. I enjoyed how creative the menu was & the way they managed to highlight Cambodian cuisine with a twist. Special mention for the Banh Xeo (with a twist) & the Prahok Ktiss (pork belly dip), but everything was delicious. I loved it so much I wrote an article about it on my Substack, Table for One.
Food were very delicious, & I love them a lot! The server was super friendly & attentive. However, the restaurant was very loud, & I barely heard the conversation. Another drawback of the restaurant is the portion is very small & expensive. A small plate of food for $20-$30. Two of us ordered one drink each, 4 plates & desserts cost $160 before tax & tips. & we still didn't feel full!

Way overcharge with the fixed menu if you're not eating meat with no protein option whatsoever.
Essentially $60 + tax & service fee for $18 - $24 of food. (small medium size mushroom salad, a good sized papaya salad as well as a small plate of air-dried vegetables & a small helping of rice)
Combine that with a tasty but somewhat small portioned $17 cocktail & I left hungry with $100 less in my pocket.
Not recommended, for vegetarians or vegans anyways.
Absolutely wonderful experience all around. Incredible food & spectacular service. Cocktail & mocktail were perfectly balanced. Desserts sounded so good we got both (pictured: green tea crème brûlée & mango sticky rice). My new favourite Montréal restaurant!
Incredible service, incredible food. We came with a party of 12, & they served us family style with eight services of incredible dishes, & enough portions that everyone left with their bellies full to bursting. We were celebrating the birthday of someone with some dietary restrictions & they could not be more attentive & accommodating about it. Hillary was an excellent host & a pleasure to plan this with. Fantastic experience!
