I judge Ethiopian restaurants by their Kitfo. This one was excellent. Extremely spicy but flavorful. The basic salad was beyond basic flavor-wise. Will be back!
Update: yes I came back, & went with the shared sampler for two & it was more than enough. Fantastic selection - great job on enhancing the menu.

My husband & I stumbled across this nice Ethiopian restaurant en route back to our hotel. We loved the relaxing & pretty atmosphere both indoors & outdoors, we sat outdoors since the weather was sunny & nice. I told the waitress that Ethiopian cuisine reminds me of Korean Ssam where you use a piece of food (in Korean cuisine it's a sesame or lettuce leaf) to use like a tortilla to make a taco. Ethiopians use a spongey, highly flexible bread to eat everything since their culture traditionally does not use cutlery.
Amazing food! As a vegan, i don't usually go to non-vegan restaurants in Montreal. But when i'm in the mood for ethiopian food, we're so lucky to have Nil Bleu. They have an amazing vegan menu. We always take the tasting manu with the 3 appetizers & several varieties as entrees. The injeras (Ethiopian pancakes) are wonderful & the selection of wine is fantastic!
We have sampled Ethiopian food all over the world. We ordered the vegan tasting platter. Uneasonably expensive food & drink with small portions. Glass wasn't clean. Food was good, but not worth the hype & price. Excited to try other options in the city.
I lived in Washington DC for years & I've traveled to Ethiopia, so I am not new to Ethiopian cuisine. The food at le Nil Bleu fantastic, some of the best I've ever had! We ordered the meat & vegetable tasting menu. The appetizers were contemporary & the main course more traditional. The food was tasty & plentiful; the staff was friendly. Go hungry, leave happy!
A truly culinary, exotic experience that transports one to the finest of what Ethiopia has to offer.
I had Ethiopian food in Dubai at several Ethiopian restaurants THERE, & NOT ONE could hold a candle to Nil Blue in terms of ambience, professionalism of service, taste of the food, & quantity.
The VERY FIRST restaurant I went to upon my return to Montreal, wasNil Bleu, which also has an extensive wine list, & provides exquisitely blended cocktails as well.

I was craving some good ethiopian food & today, my craving was satisfied & gone. The vibe & atmosphere in here is amazing, & i will be coming again! amazing music & tasting menu
I love this place!! I've been a couple times & just went again this weekend & brought a friend who had never tired Ethiopian food. This is where I tried it the first time so I knew it would be a good experience. The deal they do for 2 people is such a steal & a great way to try lots of different things. Fun vibe inside & our waiter recommend a great drink to pair.
First time trying Ethiopian cuisine. The place is very clean. Food was excellent! Great blend of flavors with some kick. The staff are super friendly & accommodating, & the overall vibe was awesome. Really good experience.
restaurant inside the Kutuma Hotel that serves up very tasty Ethiopian food. A very reasonably priced tasting menu that offers five or six appetizers & main courses include chicken, lamb & beef.
The diversity of options in the Montreal food scene is incredible. Do not overlook this wonderful Ethiopian restaurant near Square Saint-Louis. Many incredible options that are all organic & delicious. So many vegan options that do not feel like side dishes or h'ors d'oevres. Service was attentive. Atmosphere was spot on. Try this African cuisine gem.
First time trying Ethiopian food. It was unexpectedly delicious!! Ordered a combo sampler that came with an appetizer & a main plate with different proteins & veggies (about 35 CAD). The wait time was long - about 15 min for appetizer & another 15 to 20 min for the main plate, but it was worth the wait!

Have been coming to this amazing restaurant for decades, missed it so much when i moved to Texas, I had to teach myself how to cook Ethiopian food! The service & food gets better each time we visit, thank you all!
I wanted to try this Ethiopian restaurant since a long time (since Montreal doesn't have much of those). But I finally got the chance to try it. It was a sunny Saturday in the late afternoon & when I arrived, it was surprisingly not crowded. I got seated & got great advice & very professional service from the waiter. I tried the menu dégustation which includes three starters (chickpea puree, caramelized vegetables & dices tomato salade) & an injera plate with doro watt (chicken tigh & egg covered with a dark spicy curry), filet mignon with grilled vegetables, yellow-curried dices of potatoes & salad. All accompanied with two injera rolls which are like spongy type of pita bread. The food was delicious! So flavorful & so filling! First time I ever tried Ethiopian food & I love it. :)
The food is delicious! I had the vegan platter & it is a great variety! The 2 course tasting has even more if you have 2 people or even if you just want to try more options. The staff is super friendly & the decor in the restaurant is gorgeous! If you have never had Ethiopian food I recommend you try it & if you have you should come here!
