We tried the meat combo for two, which comes with 5 appetizers & 5 meat & vegetable meals.
The appetizers portion sizes could have been larger, especially considering they are shared. You only got one tiny taste before it was gone. The saurteeed mixed vegetable was wonderful - we could have had that as a main.
For the meal, the portions look small but there is more than enough food. My only suggestion is to remove the chicken from the bone before serving - considering we are eating with our hands. Two people manipulating the same piece of chicken is not ideal.
The traditional Ethiopian music & artists were great to listen to while we enjoyed our meal.
Great cocktails & friendly staff.
Delicious food! Had the Doro Wot & Zilzil Tibs & both were some of the best Ethiopian food we've had
Food was Delicious. Prices were high. I have been to comparable Ethiopian restaurants where prices were half or less.
Nil Bleu/Blue Nile is superb - so good, we went twice during the same trip to Montréal! Beautifully prepared Ethiopian food in an elegant, comfortable space, with friendly, attentive service. The two-course tasting menu offered a great selection of nine dishes from the larger menu - all were excellent & beautifully presented, with the Kitfo & eggplant appetizer both standing out. The Yebeg Alicha is now my all-time favourite lamb dish, anywhere (& the reason we went back & ordered à la carte!). The menu also offers extensive vegan/vegetarian options, & the drinks were top notch. Can't wait to go back!
Growing up in Ethiopia, I know what authentic Ethiopian food should taste like. My meal at Nil Bleu on St-Denis in Montreal truly brings back those memories every time we dine there. The food is always absolutely finger-licking good, the injera was perfect, & the spicy flavors were spot on.
Even my Canadian grandchildren loved the experience of eating Ethiopian style. A wonderful & authentic dining experience. Highly recommended.
Tried Ethiopian food for the first time & it was so good! The service was also very good!
My new favorite place in Montreal. Extraordinary Ethiopian cuisine & a beautiful hotel with the warmest vibe I have experienced here.
Delicious & expensive Ethiopian food. One of my favourite date night dinners in the area. The two person taster menu is an easy pick & the cocktails taste interesting!
Great restaurant to discover Ethiopian food through their discovery menu in a more formal setting. The waiter took in our spice tolerance levels into account & subbed the spicier items on the menu (berbere chicken) with a less spicy protein option. It was very tolerable, & so he welcomed us to come back & try the chicken versions next time.
They have a vegetarian friendly menu & the waiter explains everything that's on our plates, from a meat tartare, lamb stews, sautéed beef, salads & lentils/pea options. All served on a platters with traditional sourgum'crepe'. Enjoy the meal eating eith your hands, or ask for utensils if that's what you prefer. The shared meal was very filling.
Dessert options were more'western' & rich: chocolate-passion fruit mousse cake, chocolate & pecan cake, lemon & matcha tart or a coconut & white chocolate square.
