One of my most memorable dining experiences I've ever had. Rose went above & beyond taking care of us.
The miso oysters are some of my favorite things I've ever had
Group of four on a Saturday evening, we had reservations at 5.30pm as it was the only available time so think ahead if you want to go on a weekend evening. Warm welcome on arrival & seated promptly near the bar. The layout is narrow & deep with a bar on one side & open kitchen at the back. Apps were good, we had the oysters to start, gf had ceviche which was the best starter of the group. My tuna tartare was good as well. Mains were also very good, fish & beef jowls were excellent. Extensive wine list is offered but very pricey with only a few
A great night out. We had their oysters as a starter - 3 different kinds. Plain, crackling maple & miso au gratin, & it was hard to decide which were the best. Then we shared an off-menu plate of gnocchi that was to die for. For main courses I had an Icelandic cod with truffles that was incredible & my partner had a melt-in-your mouth beef cheek. Dessert was a delicious maple square.
They don't advertise much as it seems they have enough of a loyal following to stay busy every night & to catch the attention of Michelin.
Easily the best value culinary experience in Montreal. The miso-gratin oysters are to die for & the service is nothing less than extraordinary. Already been a few times now & will definitely be returning more especially as their menu is always changing & never fails to wow me.
Exceptional food, exceptional service & hospitality & great ambience. Small & intimate setting, you can see the kitchen, & cocktail bar. It's lively & a little chaotic in a good way. Every dish we ordered was exceptional, but the buckwheat crab, the oysters, sesame tuna, & the tuna tartare stood out the most.
One of the best customer services I have had in Montreal! Too bad we did not ask his name, but he was very kind & knowledgeable for the drinks & the dishes. All of his recommendations were on point! (All of their wine recommendations indeed satisfied all of us!).
Oysters were not only fresh but it was also quite chunky 😋. I really recommend grilled octopus too! It was soft & seasoned very well. All the main dishes we had was super tasty too.
Lastly, you cannot not take the famous maple square! It was perfect to end our course 😁
Overall, it was 10 out of 10! We all really loved the vibe of the restaurant. I really liked that it was not too loud(probably we were the loudest table idk😅), & just by the fact the how good customer service it was, it is definitely worth to try!
A classic in Montreal. Have been coming here since they opened. The food is good. Always has been. The menu really hasn't changed. If anything, a little for the worse with some of their modifications from the OG. The oysters & the tuna dishes are still there, & the same. The beef tataki is more or less the same - the mushrooms are now fried & the beef sliced thin, which is not a great change. My issue however is mostly with value. For the same price ($100+ CAD), I get double the food at Beba. More dishes, more food, more interesting new stuff that changes seasonally. Have a very tough time justifying regular trips to Le Filet. Maybe once every few years for nostalgia? Just overpriced, especially in this economy. Service is friendly, but inattentive. Just not paying attention for long stretches. & took forever to pay my bill & leave. Glad Le Filet is still around, but its peak has sadly passed.
Loved my time here - we got seats by the counter which gave us a great view of the kitchen. The service staff were fantastic - professional, helpful, & friendly. The food was great with the standouts being the miso oyster (my favorite bite in Montreal) & the honey cake dessert. We spent about 300 for two people (including tip) & reservations were required. Will definitely be back next time!
Easily in the conversation for the best restaurant in Montreal... I visit probably 4-6 times a year & it never misses.. The miso gratin oysters ARE the best app in the city, prove me wrong. Staff & service is as strong as the food.
