We visited this place on a holiday & were pleasantly surprised by the lack of a lineup or wait. The restaurant is located in a lovely neighborhood. The patio is nice, but be aware it's next to a busy street, so it can get a bit noisy with cars passing by. We went for lunch & tried two taco dishes: one beef & one shrimp. Each plate came with three tacos, & both were delicious. However, the beef tacos were quite greasy, with oil dripping from each bite, leaving my plate oily by the end, which made me feel a bit guilty about all the oil. The washrooms were unisex & reasonably clean. The staff was friendly, & the food came out quickly. It would've been nice if they offered extra sauces. The portion sizes were okay. Just a heads up-they mainly serve tacos, so you won't find other Mexican dishes like burritos here.

One of the best mexican restaurant I visited. Food was tasty & portions were more than fair. It is a bit on the expensive side but you get what you pay for.
Great Food & Fabulous Service by Yannick, Francesca, Lili & Clemence at La Catrina in Vieux Port Montreal. I wanted to extend my sincerest thanks to the entire staff at La Catrina located in the Vieux Port of Old Montreal. The food at La Catrina in Vieux Port Montreal was especially tasty & savory. The service at La Catrina in Vieux Port Montreal was excellent. I got together with a group of friends in Old Montreal to have dinner at La Catrina. I am happy to say that we had a phenomenal experience. We wanted to take advantage of the outside seating area on a beautiful night. Even though the restaurant was very crowded, the restaurant manager, Yannick, quickly pulled together four tables-minimizing wait-time. Francesca, the young lady who took our orders, was friendly & cordial. Francesca explained menu options, suggested dishes we might like to sample, made polite conversation with all of the guests & was very attentive to each person. She provided us with exceptional service over & above what normally might be expected-& more than what I have received at other restaurants of similar quality. Especially, in view of the late hour & the many other restaurant guests to which she had to tend. She even made the guacamole right at our table-personalizing the recipe according to our tastes. Francesca was fantastic. She understood we were hungry & handled our orders quickly. She remembered what each one of us ordered & placed the correct plate in front of each person quickly & seamlessly. Incredibly impressive in view of the number of tables she was handling that evening & the number of orders she must have taken. Both Yannick & Francesca were incredibly attentive to all of our requests & made it a point to pass by the table on three or four occasions to politely inquire whether everything was going well & whether we wanted additional food or drink. Additionally, I would be remiss if I did not mention Lili & Clemence, who also contributed to an overall great dining experience as a result of their tireless efforts. In short, Yannick, Francesca, Lili & Clemence provided great customer service in a courteous & professional manner. When friends, colleagues & others ask me for a recommendation for great Mexican food & excellent service, I will let them know that they must visit La Catrina.
Last night we went to this restaurant for birthday, reason We picked this place was close to home & we checked the instagram page look like fine dining & fancy but Unfortunately it was very bad experience foods have No taste at all If you are not Mexican at least hire A MEXICAN Chef, my partner is Mexican i have tasted Mexican food outside & inside the Mexico & this was the Worst they don't use any chilis or ingredients make you feel eating Mexican food i wanted to order tuna tartare they had pictures on instagram no exist in menu i think is just for show,menu has no variety, my partner ordered Al pastor taco no taste at all they don't even know they should bring sauce, you ask everywhere they know Mexicans food are famous for sauces, Ceviche was nightmare too much acidity they used artificial lime juice one tip if you are serving sour ceviche you will need to add some sweet like mango to balance it , my partner suffered stomachache all night, I don't how some people review it as good here tbh. & i don't mind pay more to eat delicious unfortunately was pricey & not delicious even in Türkiye they make Mexican food much delicious than this restaurant. Just don't go there by checking instagram is not real is all show I gave 2 star just for staff being nice & atmosphere
Beautiful drinks & amazing authentic Mexican food , service is a1 recommended girls night . If you go ask for sandy , Florence, lily, or Yannick you will not be disappointed they have amazing energy & give the best service in all of vieux mtl. The margaritas are a must 😍😈

As a Mexican, the food was great!!! Also great music & service was perfect. Food got a little time to arrive at the table but it was worth it. It is also worth it to make a reservation in advance.
We stumbled upon La Catrina when visiting Montreal 5 years ago & have been talking about it ever since. For our family trip this year, we booked a reservation to be sure we could get a table. The service was friendly & fantastic, & every single thing from the guacamole to the chips, drinks, & tacos were amazing. This is my absolute favorite Mexican restaurant I've been to anywhere & will make a point to visit every time I'm in Montreal.
This is authentic Mexican food & it's amazingly delicious!! We ordered the beef brisket tacos & the fried chicken tacos. Everything was made to PERFECTION! The atmosphere & environment is clean & welcoming. Thank you to our waitress Catherine! She was amazing & so friendly!
Pedi unos frijoles charros, lo que recibi fueron frijoles cocidos con Cebolla, tambien pedí tacos y no estaban preparados como realmente son, si quieres algo que sepa mexicano de verdad aqui no es . Ah y en el establecimiento nadie habla espanol.

Always love the food, was a bit disappointed that the Fried Chicken & Burrata's ingredients were changed. I remember the first time it was SO spicy & so good, now it doesn't have any spice at all. Still really good.
Thought it was strange that no Spanish music was playing in a Mexican restaurant, instead they were blasting Sean Mendes... A bit weird.

Guacamole served with homemade tortilla chips, Tacos Platter, & Spiced Captain Morgan, Malibu, coconut puree, pineapple juice, lime juice served in a real pineapple ;)

Long wait. It took some time after ordering to find out that something is not available. We asked not spicy drink but got the spicy one. Not attentive to requests of the guests & small portions. Al pastor is not even similar to Mexican Al pastor.
Amazing authentic Mexican flavors. Don't expect Carlos & Pepe's type food. This is the real thing. Fish tacos are outstanding, portions are generous. Everything is fresh. Prices are great too!
