La Catrina propose une ambiance chaleureuse et vivante avec des portions généreuses et des plats phares comme le guacamole préparé à table et des tacos savoureux, sans oublier des cocktails et margaritas très appréciés; le service est généralement sympathique et l'atmosphère animée convient aux groupes, aux dîners en famille ou à une expérience détendue sur la terrasse, ce qui en fait une étape mémorable dans le Vieux-Port de Montréal.
Food was very good - however, service was horrendous.
For reference, waited 30 minutes to be seated, waited 30-40 minutes for our order to be taken. Following the waiter taking our order, it took about an hour to see the appetizers & drinks we ordered.
We didn't get our main entrees for about 2 hours after we were sat.
When I asked about the delay, was told the restaurant was very busy but the wait times are inexcusable. The restaurant didn't seem too busy to warrant a 3 hour wait time end to end.
All in all, food was good but don't go there expecting to dine & leave within a 1-1.5 hour timeline. Plan to call PTO & block your calendar for a couple of days if you want to eat here.
C'est ma 2e fois à peu près à la même période avant le week-end de la Formule 1. Hier nous sommes arrivé vers 18h05 & nous avons été servi à 19h alors que nous avions un spectacle à voir à 19h30. J'ai commandé un mocktail spicy mango & j'ai eu de l'alcool, il m'a fallu attendre après quelques gorgées pour m'en rendre compte qu'il y avait de l'alcool car je commençais à voir la tête qui tourne. Fort heureusement je n'ai pas de contrainte de santé ou religieuse. De plus la carte venait de juste de changer quelques heures plus tôt avant que la cuisine démarre. Ce n'est pas le meilleur combo tacos de poulet frit avec des melon d'eau à la place des tomates je trouvais que ça manquait de sel ou de goût. Le fruit a pris trop le dessus. En bref pour des tacos attendre 1h nous avons trouvé ça problématique en plus de l'épisode de l'alcool. Je ne blâme pas la serveuse car elle était gentille & très débordée malgré qu'elle n'était pas toute seule. Je préfère de loin le Catrina sur St Hubert, sorry but not sorry 😉
Went here for a quick drink & dinner with my friend! Super cool ambience -there's a downstairs where the bar is, that has a speakeasy type vibe & a massiveee terrace - cant wait to try it out this summer! Our waitress was Lili - she was super sweet, & made me a great mocktail!
Unfortunately there were some other clients in the restaurant that were mistreating her & even began to raise their voices (embarrassing for grown women) but Lili remained calm & handled the situation well despite their bad attitudes.
Saturday. May 9, 2026, 3pm. I understand that Saturday's can be busy on a nice sunny day, but it appears the staff of kitchen may have been overwhelmed with people who were out enjoying the day. Although it wasn't I early busy. Long wait for beverages, ok with that. Long wait for food that when it did arrive, the fish tacos were ice cold, & overcooked. The beef was just average. For an appetizer, two orders of tacos (3 each), coke & glass of wine, the 105.00 bill (incl tip) was alot to pay for what we referred to 'angry food,' I had read such good things about to this place & hope to this was just an episode of a hiccup as things are getting ready for the summer season.
Drinks were good. But I can find good drinks anywhere in Montreal. My issue with this place was the service was poor & the attitude of the waitress was beyond rude. Do yourself a favor & go to Nomai, which is next door. If you're in the mood for Mexican, visit Three Amigos on Rue Saint Jacques which is within walking distance & where they have great food & amazing service!

Food was absolutely amazing. Guacamole made tableside, delicious tacos, & an awesome quesadilla. My friend & I could have shared either the tacos or the quesadilla & it would have been plenty to eat after the guacamole. The cocktails were exquisite-Mexican Mule & French 75.
I marked it down just a bit in service because the woman who took our drink order never returned & after about half an hour we got the waiter's attention to order our food. Also the atmosphere was mostly good but it's very small & kind of noisy. I would go back again in a heartbeat for the food & drink!
The drinks were genuinely good, which is the only reason this isn't one star. Service was a different story. We tried multiple times to get our server's attention & were ignored. When she finally came over, she yelled at us. When we raised it while paying, her response was that she yelled because we had been yelling at her, which was not true. We were not raising our voices at any point.
Mistakes happen in service, & a simple acknowledgment would have gone a long way.
Being yelled at & then accused of the same behavior is not how you treat a paying customer. I'd come back for the drinks if the service were different, but based on this experience I can't recommend it.
Best mexican food in the city! Fantastic service & even better spicy mango margaritas. The crispy chicken tacos are phenomenal!! Have been countless times.
I tried this spot this past Sunday, & I have to say the only memorable thing about this place was the service. The food is subpar quite frankly. Thank you Valentina for making the evening so special.
Bar & Restaurant La Catrina - Vieux-Port a must try Mexican restaurant. It has great delicious food with fresh ingredients, great vibe, friendly staff.
They have great tacos & churros in picture was Al Pastor Tacos & Churros Dulce de leche. 🌮🖤
I've been here a few times. Usually during the early afternoon. This time, it was for dinner (group of 6). It was a little noisy but we were still able to hear each other. Service was very friendly, always a smile. Food is delicious.
