Kem CoBa Le Plateau-Mont-Royal, Montreal: Menu, Reviews & Reservations (2026)
Ice CreamDesserts & Sweets
Kem CoBa (in Vietnamese it means "third auntie's ice cream", nickname given to co-owner Ngoc by her niece) offers fresh ice cream and sorbet prepared with premium quality ingredients, with no preservatives nor artificial flavours. You'll also find homemade soft ice cream, with featured flavours that change based on the 2 chefs' mood and creative escapades. How about coconut-mango or strawberry cheesecake? You can also buy pastries that complement ice cream and sorbet. But this time, they're Ngoc's own little creations (baked on site). Now we're talking about shortbread, brownies, almond tiles, butter cakes, canelés, sponge cakes, etc. And a little (sweet) Asian touch is what makes them so special...

Review Summary

Kem CoBa is widely regarded as one of Montreal's best ice cream spots, known for creamy, artisanal flavors and a silky soft serve that fans crave; the menu features a rotating selection of inventive flavors, including pandan, lychee, rose, mango and other bold pairings that change every couple of weeks, keeping the experience fresh. The experience is praised for quality and variety, though lines can be long and the shop operates cash only, so visitors are advised to bring cash. Taken together, Kem CoBa stands out as a memorable, artisanal destination that brings creative, fresh flavors to the Montreal ice cream scene and earns frequent repeat visits from locals and travelers alike.

Pas trop sucrée & riche en goût, la soft serve dulce de leche & sorbet mangue était délicieuse. Avant d'y aller pensez à retirer de l'espèce car c'est cash only.

We were in Montreal for two days & we went to Kem Co Ba two times. We wanted to go more but we couldn't! The ice cream & sorbet was out of this world. Texture on the chocolate 72 was silky smooth. Simply the best.

Delicious - love the Asian flavours. Wish we could have tried them all!

Recommend the pandan as well as the raspberry, lychee & rose sorbet.

Elite.

Tried two flavours, the pandan ice cream & the raspberry, lychee & rose sorbet. Both were sooo good. The flavour was strong but didn't conflict with each other. Not sickeningly sweet. Had to lick my cup dry

Delicious & smooth sorbet! The flavours were refreshing & will definitely want to come back to try more.

There was a lineup, but it moved well.

Kem Coba is one of the top 3 places for outstanding ice cream in Montreal. If we are having dinner in the area we stop for dessert here. About every two weeks there soft ice cream flavour changes & the flavours are exquisite burst of a perfect blend of flavours. In the fall their last soft ice cream taste like apple pie. WOW. Dry duran, salted butter, the dark chocolate is devine.. Not sure if you will like the soft ice cream, just get a mini & come back for more.
Vincent , Ngoc family & team are very friendly & patient.
The line up is long in summer, hence the rope because that is how good & popular Kem Coba is . There are seats to enjoy & chat with friends. The summer heat has finally arrived & its time for delicious ice cream & sorbet . Also a stop on my ice cream tours of Montreal.
Highly recommended

The hype is real, folks. Just do like I do & go when it's rainy & cold. My last visit I had a goat cheese & sour cherry ice cream, it was absolutely mind blowing. The dark chocolate is rich & tasty, & they have sorbets with weird fruits too. I could have had anything on the menu & I know it's good.

Nice ice cream. I liked the chocolate one & texture of it. Sorbet was not as good. The scoops were small but pricey.

Went on a Thursday night, no line. They always have untypical flavors (more fruity) that taste amazing. I tried one of their sorbets, which was delicious. Definitely recommend it when you need a quick ice-cream fix that isn't too heavy.

My friends & I were just walking by & realized this opened in 15 minutes, & there wasn't a line yet. Thank goodness because once we got in line, it formed... & it was long. Their shop is one of Montreal's staples & I'm happy to say that they provide a few vegan friendly sorbet options. During our visit, they had wonderful tropical fruit flavors & you can split a small cup for the same price. Their mango was refreshing & a must try. Cash only! Make sure to bring them bills to pay for this delicious Vietnamese inspired ice cream.

We were in the area & decided to try the featured soft serve La Québécoise which consisted of honey & blueberry sorbet. The flavor combination paired really well & complimented each other. A must try if you are visiting the area.

Great flavors. My picky kids love their own combos. One had salted butter & panda. Other did sorbet -strawberry & sour sop. Wife had lychee cone. All hits.

Best mango & raspberry sorbet

I love this place, they make lots of unique flavours & many are geared towards Asian flavours, such as pandan & soursop. The gelatos & sorbets are well made & have a rich but not overly sweet taste. My favourites are pandan & mango sorbet. Please note that they're only open during the summer months (closes in September) & only take cash. Be aware that there may be lineups, but it is worth it!

The line was intimidating but moved rather fast. They have an immaculate service system to help process people through. I had the soursop sorbet (acidic & fermented taste) & the pandan leaf (floral vanilla notes) ice cream & my mom got the salted butter & dulce de leche ice cream. I like that there is a balance of more approachable flavors & some more exotic ones!
