About

Kem CoBa specializes in artisanal ice cream and sorbet produced with meticulous attention to natural ingredients and traditional churning techniques. The selection features a rotating array of complex, globally inspired flavors that highlight seasonal fruits and high-quality dairy components. Each batch emphasizes a dense, creamy texture designed to showcase the authentic essence of the core flavor profiles. Beyond chilled confections, the establishment offers a variety of handcrafted sweet treats and delicate pastries that complement their signature frozen offerings. The minimalist environment focuses entirely on the production quality, allowing the intricate flavor combinations to remain the primary attraction for patrons. This focus on craftsmanship ensures a consistent experience defined by bold, recognizable ingredients rather than excessive additives or artificial flavor enhancements.

Review Summary

Kem CoBa is widely regarded as one of the premier ice cream destinations in Montreal, celebrated for its high-quality artisanal gelato, sorbets, and rotating soft serve flavors. Visitors frequently praise the shop for its unique and creative flavor combinations, particularly the Vietnamese-inspired options like pandan and salted cream, which offer a refreshing and authentic taste profile. While the shop is famous for its long lines and a strictly cash-only payment policy that requires advance preparation, many patrons find the experience well worth the wait. The vibrant community atmosphere, friendly service, and commitment to fresh, well-balanced ingredients make it a must-visit spot in the Mile End neighborhood, though some guests suggest checking the menu in advance as popularity can occasionally lead to varied personal experiences.

KemCoba is one of the better icecream places in Montreal. Their gelato is definitely one of the best around, & the price is very reasonable compared to others in the city. The staff is friendly too, just be aware you need to take cash in advance.

Their flavours can be great but sometimes a miss. I recently had coconut, which really could do without the peanuts on top & was too sweet. Also I do wish they bought some flavours back, especially their date flavour two years ago was EXCEPTIONAL. Please bring it back, it was a winner. 🫶🏻

Overall, way way better than their neighbours. Walk down the street, & come to Kemcoba instead.

Tasty & unique flavours you won't find anywhere else, highly recommend. Only downside is that it's cash only so make sure you have some on you

Absolutely one of the best ice cream shops in Montreal. They are only open half of the year & they rotate their flavours very often.

Delicious & so refreshing. Love the variety of flavours. We tried the limited time blueberry honey & it was incredible. The Raspberry rose was divine & the pandan was very interesting! we will be going back to try more flavours the next time we visit the area.

Note that the establishment is cash only.
