Kem CoBa Montreal Restaurant: Menu, Reviews & Reserve (2026)
Ice CreamDesserts & Sweets
Kem CoBa (in Vietnamese it means "third auntie's ice cream", nickname given to co-owner Ngoc by her niece) offers fresh ice cream and sorbet prepared with premium quality ingredients, with no preservatives nor artificial flavours. You'll also find homemade soft ice cream, with featured flavours that change based on the 2 chefs' mood and creative escapades. How about coconut-mango or strawberry cheesecake? You can also buy pastries that complement ice cream and sorbet. But this time, they're Ngoc's own little creations (baked on site). Now we're talking about shortbread, brownies, almond tiles, butter cakes, canelés, sponge cakes, etc. And a little (sweet) Asian touch is what makes them so special...

Review Summary

Kem CoBa is widely regarded as one of Montreal's best ice cream spots, known for creamy, artisanal flavors and a silky soft serve that fans crave; the menu features a rotating selection of inventive flavors, including pandan, lychee, rose, mango and other bold pairings that change every couple of weeks, keeping the experience fresh. The experience is praised for quality and variety, though lines can be long and the shop operates cash only, so visitors are advised to bring cash. Tasty & unique flavours you won't find anywhere else, highly recommend. Only downside is that it's cash only so make sure you have some on you

Pas trop sucrée & riche en goût, la soft serve dulce de leche & sorbet mangue était délicieuse. Avant d'y aller pensez à retirer de l'espèce car c'est cash only.

Delicious & so refreshing. Love the variety of flavours. We tried the limited time blueberry honey & it was incredible. The Raspberry rose was divine & the pandan was very interesting! we will be going back to try more flavours the next time we visit the area.

Note that the establishment is cash only.

The line was kinda long, & moved slowly. Didn't know ahead of time that this place is cash only, so be prepared. The soft-serve 72% chocolate twist with framboise was delicious. Tried the hard praline first, & wasn't a big fan. Prices are reasonable.

This spot has really good ice cream. I got the 70% chocolate & it was really good. Creamy & packed with flavour on every bite! It's cash only as well.

Unique flavours. Their soft serve is delicious & it changes often. They have one of the best chocolate ice cream I've ever had. Cash only, so come prepared.

One of the best ice creams in Montreal, the only downside is that they only accept cash

Kem Coba has good quality ice cream for sure. Just dissapointed by their cash only policy.

They also charge 0.25$ for an empty cup on top of their ice cream being pricey.

They save a lot of money on credit card fees, make you wait in line, the least they could do is give free cups.

Not of fan of cash only & charging for cups etc, ice cream however is good

Disappointed - Bring Cash or Be Prepared to Leave

I was really looking forward to trying this gelato spot after hearing so many great things, but I was surprised to find out they don't accept debit or credit - cash only. In 2025, that's just inconvenient, especially for a place with such a strong reputation.

I didn't have cash on me, so I couldn't even try the gelato. Disappointing experience overall. A heads-up on their payment policy would have been helpful. Might be great gelato, but I'll never know.

The ice cream is ok & for the line, I wouldn't come back again. You can get better ice cream anywhere else. Another downside is that is cash only.

Cute shop. Line goes quick. Tried the blueberry (or raspberry?) cheese cake swirl, was more like blueberry/vanilla. Bring cash.

Truthfully best ice-cream just wish they took cashless payment.

I choose sour cherry & Lychee, Fig & Orange. Both were tasty. Colorful bench makes eating gelato more sweet. Cash only is not convenient for tourlist.
