We both ordered the Katsu curry & one drink each. It was a little pricey for 2 people but heyy we had left overs for lunch. So no complaints 😜 I might go again to try the red carbonara Katsu dish. The service was quick & the experience was pleasant.
i ordered the curry loin kastu for take out & received a tiny cup of curry that was barely filled up halfway & also tasted off:/
very pricey for 2 gulps of curry 🤨
Katsuya has been on my'Want to go' list for years & on end of February, me & my friends decided to go give it a try it. I really loved their Japanese Katsuya chicken & karaage! Super crunchy & sweet-salty sauce balances the flavours. We ate during lunch period so it was nice & peaceful that we're able to have conversations, & service was quick. Prices is roughly $16-$22 depending on what you get. I recommend coming here with friends or a quick lunch/dinner, as it's fulfilling!
My boyfriend & I have been looking for a good katsu & udon place in Montreal ever since we left Korea. We each had their udon katsu combo. The second we tried the udon we had such a wave of nostalgia. The price was reasonable & the food was amazing.
Excellent food quality. Honestly, nothing more you can ask for. It's a little pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for. Very satisfied.
Pretty good food & the quantity was great for the price. Only thing is that I ordered a homemade limonade & there was some dark crumbs in it, when i ask to replace it the second one had the same thing.. & the ice cream on the menu is the commercial ice cream like at the hospital, in small prepackaged cups…
Good spot in downtown for a Japanese-Korean meal.
Came here on a Monday for a quick lunch. Even during the busy hour, the place was pretty empty, so food came out fast. The setup reminded me of the Katsuya-style restaurants that are big in South Korea. Tons of tonkatsu variations with Korean street-food like toppokki. This location felt a notch below what you'd get in Seoul, but still better than most spots in North America.
From the Korean side of the menu, I got the mala cream toppokki. Never tried it during its hype era, & it was actually better than I expected. Thin cylindrical rice cakes (which I usually prefer) & a mala cream sauce with enough heat without that heavy carbonara vibe.
The chicken karaage was decent. I went with thigh meat, but they didn't drain the oil properly, so it leaned a bit greasy. For tonkatsu, I'd been craving a proper cheese katsu, so I ordered Gold & Silver (half mozzarella, half cheddar). The cheddar half was too sharp & salty, while the mozzarella side was solid, though the pork crust ran a tad dry.
Still a good option if you want casual Korean & Japanese comfort food downtown at a reasonable price.
A nice place, if you looooove Katsu! Their plates are very big for the price & it is soooo good! I craved Tonkatsu from Japan & I wasn't disappointed. I ate the sweet chili katsu & drank the homemade lemonade ❤? Keep it going guys, it is very very good 🫶
Great spot for lunch downtown. Good food, big portions, reasonable prices. The waiters are very friendly!
Good food - wide menu of katsu.
Big portions - worth the price.
Good service - quick & friendly.
Definitely recommend to try out.
Great service, very accommodating. Portions are massive for the price & the food is really good. Overall great enjoyment!!
Loved this place! The service was extremely quick & pleasant! The portions were really generous for the price & everything tasted amazing!
5 star place for Japanese & Korean katsu!
They also have an amazing fried shrimp.
For me the price is very resenable for the quality & service.
Second time here with friends, we had an amazing time. I took the supreme original pork katsu & there was 2 pieces so the price is quite fair for the quantity. The client service was really good ! They have unlimited refills of udon soup, salad & rice 😏 I took 4 refills of soup, one of salad & one of rice & they all came out really quickly !
Katsuya is a must go for quality katsu in mtl! Huge portions for a very reasonable price! Fried to perfection with a juicy interior & rapid service!
Really great spot, few steps away from the metro & super downtown location. Tried the snow cheese ball & they were so good, the takoyaki are breaded in their homemade panko so they're crispy & also super tasty. There are so many different options for the katsudon, personally loved the cheese one but all of them seemed worth of trying. Great service from the staff & really good price too, will come back to try more of it.
