My wife & I recently had brunch at Janine Cafe. I had the grilled cheese & she had the French toast. The food was excellent, the service warm & professional, & the decor was special. The portion sizes were large & the prices very reasonable. It is a great place to have breakfast or brunch. Highly recommended!
Excellent service paired with exceptional food. The atmosphere reminds me of French bistros, avec la service tres attentionnée & accommodant. I appreciated the'aperitif' to start the meal, & the fact that our waiter managed our appetites very well!
Portions were quite generous & I really loved the flavour pairings. We highly recommend Janine for brunch!

The service here is amazing! Our waiter was attentive, friendly, & helpful. The food presentation was great & it was delicious. I highly recommend coming to this spot for a nice brunch meet up with a friend.
I had a great first impression of this restaurant. At the beginning, I was served by two female servers who were both friendly, attentive, & genuinely welcoming. Although there was a misunderstanding with my order, they noticed the issue very quickly because they paid close attention to every customer, & they resolved it promptly.
Later, I believe one of them went on break & a male server took over. Unfortunately, the quality of the service changed completely. He walked around the restaurant without paying attention to customers, making it nearly impossible to get his attention when I needed assistance. I had to walk to the counter myself to ask for help. It seemed like the staff only wanted to deliver the food as quickly as possible & then stand behind the counter.
What disappointed me the most was when he brought me the bill. Without making any eye contact or saying a word, he simply dropped it onto my table. The bill fell onto the floor, & he didn't even notice until another customer pointed it out. Only then did he come back to pick it up. I found this extremely rude & disrespectful.
Throughout my meal, I had no interaction with him, so I honestly don't understand why I was treated this way.
The food was delicious, but the poor service left such a bad impression that I would not return, nor would I recommend this restaurant to others.

Le personnel était poli, accueillant & attentionné. À mon avis, le restaurant était très fréquenté, toutes les tables étaient occupées, mais nous n'avons pas eu à attendre pour être installés.
It was a great restaurant. We went there for brunch on a Tuesday based on a friend's recommendation. The menu was diverse, & the food was delicious. The staff were polite, kind, & welcoming. In my opinion, the restaurant was quite busy?all the tables were occupied?but we didn't have to wait to be seated.
We stopped by Janine Café in Verdun for brunch, & it turned out to be one of the best café experiences we've had in Montreal.
The food was beautifully presented, but what really impressed me was the quality of the sauces. Every dish was well balanced, rich without being too heavy, & the sauces elevated the entire meal. You can tell the kitchen pays attention to the small details.
The service was exceptional. Our server Mr. Hamza was genuinely warm, attentive, & thoughtful throughout the meal. My daughter ordered a burger, & before it arrived, he politely asked if she planned to eat it with her hands. After she said yes, he immediately brought over extra napkins without us even asking. It's such a small gesture, but it shows how much they care about the customer experience.
Another thoughtful touch: I noticed a lady at the next table with a small handbag & nowhere to put it. The staff brought over a small handbag stand so she didn't have to leave it on the floor. They also checked on every table more than once to make sure everyone was enjoying their meal, without ever being intrusive.
Great food, beautiful presentation, outstanding sauces, & service that truly goes above & beyond. Janine Café absolutely deserves its excellent reputation. I'll definitely be back & would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable brunch in Verdun.
