This was our third time at Jacopo, & unfortunately it will probably be our last.
The restaurant is trendy & well located on the main strip of Old Montreal, making it a great spot for summer evenings & terrace dining. However, the overall experience simply didn't justify the price.
We visited on a Tuesday & the terrace was only about half full, so we expected relatively quick service. Instead, we ended up spending nearly 3 hours there.
The service started off on the wrong foot when one of our antipasti dishes was forgotten. Then our main courses took over 45 minutes to arrive. We were told there were large groups inside causing delays, which is understandable to a certain extent, but the wait was excessive.
The staff seemed overwhelmed & we didn't want to add to their stress, so we were patient. However, after our plates had been cleared, it took nearly 20 minutes before a server came back to ask whether we wanted dessert or the bill. Once we requested the bill, we then waited another 20 minutes just to complete the payment process. By that point, we simply wanted to leave.
To make matters worse, after paying, we noticed the suggested tip percentages were calculated on the after-tax amount(isn't that illegal in quebec? Also lowest tip suggestion is 18% lol) Unfortunately, we didn't catch it before paying as by then we were tired & just wanted to leave.) We would have had no issue leaving a $40 tip on a $175 bill if the service & food had truly been exceptional, but after such a disappointing experience, it felt frustrating.
Overall, the quality-to-price ratio just isn't there. You're paying more for the location & atmosphere than for the food or service.
Food is mid for what it is & kinda overpriced but fair for old port.
This restaurant was definitely great & I do understand why it has such great reviews. From the starters till main course, everything was awesome. Must try is their Cheese wheel. Their starter options, main course & secondary course were awesome. Their dessert options were fairly good. Must try. It's best recommended to book tables.
I was super pleased with this place. My party & I were pleasantly surprised by the complimentary desserts - an awesome cannoli & the lightest creamiest cake I've ever had. My main (calamari & arugula salad) were filling & delicious.
10/10 would recommend for brunch if you are in MTL!

I had high expectations for Jacopo, but unfortunately the experience fell short in a major way. The food itself was decent-around a 7/10. It wasn't bad by any means, but it also didn't stand out enough to make up for everything else.
The real issue was the service, which was extremely disappointing. From the moment we were seated, we were barely acknowledged. No one checked in on us throughout the meal-not once. We weren't asked how the food was, if we needed anything, or even offered basics like grated cheese for our dishes.
When we finished, no one came by to ask if we wanted dessert or another round of drinks.
What made it more frustrating was that we could clearly see other tables being attended to regularly.
Servers were checking in, chatting, & providing attentive service to other guests, while we were essentially ignored. It felt dismissive & honestly uncomfortable.
Good service is just as important as good food, & this experience lacked it entirely. I wouldn't return or recommend Jacopo based on how we were treated.
Mama Mia! I thought I knew what amazing restaurants were until I came to Jacopo today & it's officially one of my favorites now. First of all, let me just give huge credits to the waiters Pearce & the young blond lady ( I didnt catch her name unfortunately) but they were quite as amazing. They made us at ease, they were funny & were so patient & Pearce even took the time to listen to my dietary restrictions & made suggestions while the other waitress would always come & check up on us with a huge smile everytime. & the food omg , the soup was AMAZING & I am not exagerating, I had the soup of the day & it was asparagus & it was so so so tasty. For the main course I had the Lucio Perca & it was to die for , it was flavorful & the mashed potatoes were so creamy. For dessert we had the cannolis & the pistachio one was my favorite, it was not too sweet, just perfect & the presentation for all the plates was very cute especially for the Lucio Perca meal. Also, the restaurant is very beautiful & especially the part upstairs. Thank you for the wonderful experience, we had a great time! I will definitely come back again.
Just a perfect meal all around. Started with the focaccia, had the short rib & one of the tomato pastas & a tiramisu & espresso for dessert no notes. The short rib was the highlight truly one of the most flavourful dishes eve
Went for MTL a table & everything was delicious, started with a salad & the fish for a main, finally tiramisu for dessert.
They have a very nice wine selection & the atmosphere is very nice! The second floor has a great ambiance & decor. Will definitely be coming back.
This was a real mixed bag. Ambiance was excellent as was most of the food & service. I ordered a Hendricks martini & they put olive juice in it. When I tried to return it, the waiter pushed back. I finally said I can't drink this, at which point the bartender comes over & says'my bad', & gave me a fresh drink. They also were pushing drinks very hard at the table. Most of our party didn't drink. We were then notified that we only had the table 1.5 hrs. Wait. What? It seemed like since there was no drinking, we weren't welcome. The table next to us were there before we arrived & drinking. They hadn't even gotten their food by the time we left. By 1.5 hrs, they asked if they could bring us the check. No coffee. No dessert. You get the drift ?
There were tables open all around us as well as the'entire second floor'. I go out all the time & never experienced anything like this. (& it was a Wednesday night).
