Indian Rosa clearly aims for a top-tier dining experience, & their amazing decor certainly sets the stage. However, our recent visit revealed significant shortcomings that suggest their ambition isn't matched by their execution or management.
Things started off on the wrong foot when our order of raita was mistakenly served as bhartha. While a simple error, it was a precursor to more significant issues with the food itself. Both the butter chicken & saag paneer were extremely sweet, & the overall masala flavor was noticeably off. We asked them to remake the dishes, hoping for improvement. Unfortunately, it seemed they simply added more degi Mirch instead of hari Mirch, resulting in a'meh' taste that did little to rectify the initial problems.
The service further deteriorated when it came time to get the bill. There was a big delay because another table was apparently having an issue paying. What was most frustrating was the lack of managerial support in resolving this. A manager should have stepped in to support their servers & ensure the rest of the diners weren't impacted. This incident highlighted a clear flaw in their management structure, which falls well short of what's needed for a restaurant striving for top-tier status.
While the ambiance is impressive, the missteps in the kitchen & the apparent managerial inefficiencies unfortunately overshadowed any positive aspects of our visit.Voir plus
Amazing food! The Butter chicken was the best i ever had!Voir plus
I visited India Rosa with a friend for brunch, & as a self-proclaimed eggs Benedict snob, I think I've found my new favorite way to eat it. The cozy atmosphere & unique take on brunch classics had me excited from the start, & the dishes we tried were nothing short of delicious.

In depth review
The Menu:
India Rosa brings an exciting fusion of Indian flavors into traditional brunch dishes. Each plate is beautifully crafted, with bold spices & creative combinations that make you think differently about brunch.
Our Picks:
• Bene Butter Chicken: As an eggs Benedict enthusiast, I was blown away by this dish. The rich butter chicken was served on soft brioche bread, & the addition of cashew nuts, fried onions, Brussels sprouts, green peas, & sorrel sprouts created an incredible mix of textures & flavors. I honestly think I've found a new way to enjoy eggs Benedict-this twist had me hooked!
• Chicken & Waffles: The masala waffles were light & full of flavor, paired with fried tandoori chicken that was crispy on the outside & juicy on the inside. The cari & lime sour sauce added a tangy kick, while the spiced honey & cashews brought the perfect balance of sweet & savory. It was a dish that kept surprising me with each bite.
• Rosa's French Toast: Coated in panko crumbs & five Indian spices, this French toast had a crispy, spiced exterior that made it stand out from the usual. Topped with fresh fruit, maple caramel, lime yogurt, & maple syrup, it was a decadent, yet light treat. The flavors melded together perfectly, making it a must-try.
Service:
The service was friendly, efficient, & knowledgeable. Our server was more than happy to help us navigate the menu, & the food came out at a perfect pace. The staff made us feel right at home, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
Pricing:
While India Rosa is a bit on the pricier side for brunch, the creativity behind the dishes & the quality of the ingredients make it worth every penny. We spent about $50 per person for three dishes & drinks, & considering the generous portions & unique flavors, it's definitely a splurge worth taking.
Final Thoughts:
India Rosa offers a brunch experience that's truly one-of-a-kind in Montreal. The combination of Indian spices with classic brunch dishes is bold & inventive. Whether you're an eggs Benedict aficionado or just looking to try something new, this place is a must-visit.
Pros:
• Innovative takes on brunch classics with bold, flavorful spices
• Cozy, inviting atmosphere
• Friendly & attentive service
Cons:
• Slightly on the pricier side, but the quality makes it worthwhile
If you're looking for a fresh & exciting brunch experience, India Rosa will definitely satisfy your cravings. I'll be coming back for more, especially that Bene Butter Chicken-it's a game changer!Voir plus
This place is beautiful, beautifully decorated, & the service is a plus. All of the food that we got was so fresh & so delicious. The chicken is magical, & the French toast was so crispy. The drink pictured Was a little sour, but the mango drink was delicious. Highly recommend this place if you're in the area.Voir plus
We were 3 for lunch. We ordered Dahl soup, lamb curry, chicken & shrimp Biryanis & they were all excellent. Very good service added to a great dining experience. Eager to return!Voir plus
This is one of my favorite restaurants, delicious food & service is perfect. Celebrated birthday with family, the salmon, chicken with waffles & crepes with fruits all great presentation & yummy 😋 the drinks great loved the mimosa with guava 😍 service excellent, plus once they found out it's my birthday they brought surprise sweets, so thoughtful ❤ thank you allVoir plus
My brunch at India Rosa was simply delightful. Emma, our server, greeted us warmly, setting a positive tone for our meal. We ordered the Lamb Cari Benedict, Butter Chicken Benedict, Chicken & Waffles, & Rosa's Omelet. Each dish was a masterful blend of flavors. The Lamb Cari Benedict & Butter Chicken Benedict were especially rich & satisfying. The Chicken & Waffles hit the perfect balance of savory & sweet, while Rosa's Omelet was light & fluffy. The vibrant & inviting ambiance made for a relaxed & enjoyable dining experience. We left satisfied & eager to return. Highly recommend!Voir plus
Smaller than griffintown location, i chose inside but because of The terrace vibe, the windows were opened aka flies & bees were entering... however the food was tasty & affordable for the quantity (chicken & waffles)Voir plus
I should've made a reservation before going because I didn't like to sit near the kitchen. We ordered French toast, chicken & waffles, & two Dharma. The French toast was not that good, & the portion was small. But, the chicken was great & the portion was enormous for one person. The mocktails were good too. Service was ok, mainly because it was busy & it seemed that they were understaffed.Voir plus
A perfect brunch place in the weekend We had delicious salmon, butter chicken, fried chicken, & biryani rice meals. The mango lase is perfect, not too sweet. Must make a reservation because it is very busy in the weekend. Fast & friendly serviceVoir plus
Trying to decide if the chicken or lamb korma is my spirit animal at this Indian fusion restaurant... but let's be honest, it's the naan that really completes me. 🥘🐔🐑 #Currykroma #FusionFeast #NaanStopVoir plus
The staff are nice, & food is good, too pricy though! butter chicken is tasty, & garlic bread is one of the best I've tried in indian restaurants.Voir plus
Amazing Food & Amazing Service . Butter chicken was really GoodVoir plus
Visited for brunch. They offer their dinner menu & brunch menu, which was very convenient. Butter chicken is absolutely phenomenal. I don't recommend the salmon bagel. The bagel was extremely hard. The butter chicken definitely made up for it. Some of the best I've ever had. Unfortunately, it seemed they were understaffed. They had one waiter for the whole restaurant. Although I don't recommend the bagel or the service, the butter chicken definitely made up for it all.Voir plus
Delightful ambiance, super nice staff, tasty delicious & well-designed Indian cuisine which are made by an Indian chef. It is not a "bring your bottle" , but there is a big bar with various choices. Definitely will go again! Update: It's been almost 4 years since my first time there, & I've become a client ever since. I always take their garlic bread the soup of the day(lentil) which taste really great, butter chicken with rice, & a lamb stew. Either The curry lamb or Vindalou(spicy). But if you can't take spicy, don't take the vindaloo. For the cocktails , madame Rosa is really good & popular, recently, they have added new cocktails to the menu, The one with the passionfruit & vodka was really good (I don't remember the name) I'm adding its photo here.Voir plus
An above average Indian restaurant. We heard rave reviews & gave it a try, it was good but not even remotely close to the best Indian food I have had in North America. Very pricey for what it was but still the location, service & generally good food managed to right the wrongs. The chicken tikka masala was ginger heavy & too tomato reliant but the bhel & naan were goodVoir plus
Excellent cocktails & appetizers. Lamb seekh kebab was one of the best we've had. The entrees were a disappointment especially for the premium pricing . Poutine tikka masala was what we refer to as bachelor chicken curry, the most basic of curries, It wasn't the traditional tikka masala at all. Malai kofta was good, not great.Voir plus
Highly recommend for a date night spot! The food was so good (highly recommend the Dani puri & the chicken biryani) & the service was on point. Will be back :)Voir plus
The service & food were great! Butter Chicken is delicious & one of the best I've had...highly recommend!Voir plus
Just experienced India Rosa's brunch for the first time, & it was a delightful surprise! The butter chicken Benedict was a highlight, the ambiance was great, not too crowded during my visit, & the friendly staff added to the positive experience. Plus, a bonus: the mimosas are $5 before noon!Voir plus
Lovely atmosphere, great service & delicious food. We got the chicken & waffles & I would recommend it a %100. Price wise i would say it's high, but its really a nice restaurant.Voir plus
Delicious Indian food. Nice atmosphere. I love going for brunch & ordering the waffles with fried chicken & the nan bread with garlic.Voir plus
Everything was on point. Very good food, loved it! We had the chicken & waffles & butter chicken benedict.
Amazing brunch. The chai waffle is HEAVENLY! With the coconut cream & nuts & perfect taste of mango, it was really the best waffle I've ever had. I also tried the benedicts, the butter chicken eggs Benedict was better than the lamb curry. Also, beware that the lamb curry is very spicy.Voir plus
Had the waffles & fried chicken. Was great would go back. perfect balanceVoir plus
Wow! We were there for brunch & I had the chicken & waffles masala. What an experience! Fantastic flavor combinations. The BEST coffee we had all week! The restaurant is beautifully decorated & the wait staff was exceptional. The hostess seemed less than pleased that we arrived 10 mins early for our reservations (before resto opened) so we didn't get off to a good start but the rest of the experience was top notch! Don't miss this place!
Best Indian food place, everything was delicious but the rice chicken (can't remember the name...) was *kiss chef* the service also really nice & the ambience also nicely decorated.Voir plus
The atmosphere was really good although, we we're at the bar & the chairs are way too low for the height of the bar. My boyfriend is 5'9 & was even too low to reach to "bar" so while eating it made us uncomfortable, we weren't sat properly so it made it hard to eat. The entrees we're good, I will say, but the butter chicken lacked tasted - I'd say there was too much tomato, as the first bite tasted like ketchup unfortunately. The waitresses had a hard time speaking to us, no one checked up on us & had a RBF all night lol. Hard to grab their attention too. Thank God, the guy at the bar was the one refilling our water or else we would've been dying of thirst all night with the waitresses. Although, the entrees we're good I'll stick with authentic Indian place's like Bombay Mahal or Punjab Palace if i'm craving butter chicken, chicken tiki masala or any other kind of indian food. Way cheaper & better quality
Très bon restaurant indien avec de très bons naans, je recommande le butter Chicken qui est délicieux! Service impeccable, un peu cher, mais le lieu est très sympa! Je recommande 🇮🇳Voir plus
Food was good. Atmosphere was awesome. Very good service. I cannot tell whether if the food was very good or not because it was my first time having indian food, but I went there because I was suggested by a couple of indian friends. The cheese naan was amazing. I loved the curry. We also had some chicken masala but I was not a fan, but that's only my personal opinion & taste because too much caraway, otherwise I think the chef did a great job.Voir plus
