Review Summary

Reviews paint Hakka Grill as a standout halal Chinese restaurant in Montreal with a strong Indo-Chinese influence, praised for fresh ingredients, bold flavors, generous portions, and fast, friendly service; popular dishes include Mongolian beef, chili chicken, dynamite shrimp, General Tso, chicken chow mein, and fried rice, with many noting that the bowls come with extra fried rice or sides and that the staff are accommodating for allergies and private seating requests. The atmosphere is described as warm, welcoming, and suitable for family meals or gatherings, sometimes with a fine dining vibe or cozy casual feel. Some criticisms appear, including concerns about price for the portion size, occasional inconsistency in taste or freshness, sauces that skew too sweet or spicy for some palates, and a few comments about space constraints or variable service. Yet overall, the consensus leans very positive, with many patrons declaring it the best halal Chinese option in Montreal, appreciating the attentive staff, cleanliness, and the ability to customize dishes to dietary needs; many indicate they would return and recommend Hakka Grill to friends and family.

The food wasn't bad I enjoyed it I find it pretty tasty but I didn't liked the customer service at all. They have zero welcoming manners. I felt unconfortable.

This is not a Chinese restaurant at all. I ordered chicken fried rice to go & received a curry style fried rice. This is Indian food fusion at best. Very misleading & not at all what they described on Google.

Went yesterday with a huge family gathering. They accommodated us with great service, specially elders & kids. Every dish has a unique flavour, I dont know why it does not have a 5 star rating yet. Food is 10/10. Beef mongolian & chili chicken were a favourite.

The dynamite shrimp were amazing! I went with my family, & everyone loved the food. It's not the typical Toronto-style Hakka, but the recipes they use are really delicious. The Mongolian beef, genral tso, honey wings, & dynamite shrimp were especially standout dishes. Everything was just perfect. Best food ever had.

La nourriture est bonne. Mais ça n'a rien à voir avec la vraie cuisine Hakka. C'est plus tôt de la nourriture Chinoise adaptée au palais indien

The food was fresh & flavourful. The chili chicken & General Tao were my favourites, & the dynamite shrimp was absolutely outstanding. This was my third visit, & once again, everything was consistently delicious. The customer service was excellent, & the portions were very generous. Best of all, there was no wait time at all! ❤?❤?❤?

The worst dine in experience ever... Zero customer service & on top of that worst food... We order chef special soup....it was made from store bought chicken broth....the sweet & sour chicken serve was cold & soupy...it tasted as a left over... The ridiculous thing was they didn't even bother to ask if the food was ok... Think twice before spending your money here

We had a really amazing time at Hakka Grill last night. The food was really good & delicious. We got the General Tso Chicken, Mongolian beef, & chicken chow mein. Admittedly, it was alot of food for two people, but we took it home & it was even better the next day. I definitely recommend this place!

I tried their General Tao & Chili Chicken. The quantity of the appetizers was very small. They always split the plate in half-one half with protein & the other half with rice-which significantly reduces the protein portion.
This doesn't make much sense, especially considering where I come from in Mississauga, where similar restaurants usually serve a generous portion of protein in a full bowl, with rice served separately in another bowl.
It feels like, since there's no real competition here for halal Indo-Chinese food, they assume they can dominate the market in Montreal. However, I don't think this approach is sustainable in the long run if they don't improve their portion sizes.
