Le restaurant Grinder est installé sur la rue Notre-Dame, au coeur de Griffintown. Effectivement, ce quartier du sud-ouest de Montréal est dynamique et prometteur, plusieurs projets domiciliaires et commerciaux sont déjà en voie de réalisation.
Le décor original est signé Zébulon Perron (Furco, Buvette à Simone, Philémon). Il a crée un espace très confortable et chaleureux avec, une cuisine ainsi qu’un bar à cru. Le Grinder se caractérise par des éléments de style vintage, ainsi que des éléments plus modernes de verre et de métal.
Au menu, du cru et du cuit: tartares, tatakis, céviches, carpaccios, etc. Aussi des steaks et pièces de viandes grillées ou braisées, le tout selon une formule partage. Le Grinder offre aussi une variété de poissons et de produits de la mer également servis crus et cuits. Plus qu'un simple steakhouse, tous les gourmands trouveront leurs compte dans une vaste sélection de produits frais.
Une carte des vins 100% importation privée, toujours en constante évolution selon les saisons, et bien sur en privilégiant les vins produits dans le respect de la nature.
Les avis convergent pour décrire Grinder comme une adresse montréalaine incontournable pour les amateurs de viande et de fruits de mer, avec des plats généreux, des cuissons maîtrisées et une présentation soignée dans un cadre chic et chaleureux. My friends & I took the Tomahawk with lobsters, shrimps & scallops & it was okay. The steak was good but seafood was dry/overcooked but hey they give you sauces for your steak that you can dip or the butter lemon. The only sauce that was good for me was the chimichurri & the mushrooms were on the salty side which I thought was just me but my friends also thought the same. I don't know if the value is there though honestly as we didn't think the portions were enough for the price we paid. Service is where it shines here as they were all awesome but I do wish they would have introduced themselves so I can give a kudos here. The atmosphere is where it falls the most as the music was very loud & we really had to talk loud amongst ourselves. Overall I wouldn't come back because of the atmosphere as I couldn't enjoy my food & have a good conversation but if loud music is your thing, then this place is for you, just don't order seafood!
Service & Food is 5 Star, the steak is the highlight the show. Scallops & shrimp are great as well. Lobster needs some work. Friendly staff & nice ambience

This place is an absolute must if you're looking for a fantastic atmosphere, delicious food, & exceptional service. The valet service was a lifesaver-finding parking in Montreal can be a challenge, so it made our visit even smoother. Special shoutout to our server, Benjamin, who guided us effortlessly through the menu & made sure we had everything we needed. We ordered the Tomahawk for three, which came with lobster, shrimp, scallops, & three side dishes. The cheddar mash was incredible-a must-have! The steak was perfectly seasoned, & every bite was full of flavor. I'd happily order it again. Portion-wise, it was just right for two people (or maybe we just have a hearty appetite, haha!). For dessert, we went with Benjamin's recommendation, a Montreal favorite. I don't remember the name, but it was a delightful warm dessert paired with cold ice cream-a perfect combination. To top it all off, we were treated to complimentary espresso shots, a wonderful way to end the meal. Overall, everything was perfect. The service made us feel right at home, & we left with full hearts & full stomachs. Highly recommended!
The atmosphere was really good. I mean really, really good. The food was also good. The steak cut was not absolutely perfect to my liking, which is a shame given that this is a butchery in the first place, then a restaurant. The price is premium. But that is expected for this level of food, service & atmosphere. We had a free valet parking. I am not sure, however, if this is something offered by the restaurant or it was provided by the organizers of our event.
Sincèrement le pire service reçu. Aucun suivi, aucune vérification, nos plats n'étaient pas conformes, steaks beaucoup trop cuit, mais nous n'avons pas été en mesure d'aviser par manque de présence de cette serveuse. La nourriture était bonne mais le manque de service à la clientèle ont ruiné l'expérience. Un grand merci à la serveuse Pénélope, nous n'étions même pas dans sa section & elle a prit la chance de nous servir quand ils nous manquaient des choses importantes. Elle a su rattraper un peu le coup mais tout de même important de souligner que pour le prix, expérience service à la clientèle plus que ordinaire. Je vous souhaite mieux si vous l'essayer.

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this gem! The cozy atmosphere is perfect for a night out, & the staff are incredibly friendly & welcoming. The food Absolutely divine! I tried the New York steak, & it literally melted in my mouth , it was that tender & flavorful! But what really took my experience to the next level was the free valet parking. No more stressing about finding a spot on Notre Dame Street! It's little touches like that which make this place truly stand out. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience. Five stars, hands down!
Nice restaurant in the Ville-Marie neighborhood of Montreal. The steaks & burgers are great & all the sides were amazing. I had the Chimichurri skirt steak & it was moist & tender. The Chimichurri was very fresh & maybe could have used a little more time for the flavor to develop. The wine selection was great & reasonably priced. The servers were very busy & we did some waiting but they were very professional & friendly. We were seated quickly at a four-top but were crowded by a large table next to us & I was repeatedly bumped during dinner which was frustrating. We were in the open air seating area which was delightful but it could maybe use one less table.
Honestly the vibe & aesthetic are top notch. I truly felt that I left montreal for a second & got submerged into a different atmosphere. The service was amazing, everyone was timely & on point. Super professional, kind, & lively. The food however, is not the best, comparing it to its competitors, in terms of quality & price. We had the french onion soup, salmon tartare, the hanger steak & the halibut fish plate. Like it was definitely edible & enjoyable, but would I come here again? No. It just wasn't that tasteful nor astonishing. Because there are better options like terrasse Nelligan & The Keg Steakhouse. An overall 7.5/10z
Surf & turf platter (for 2) is pricey but very good! It comes with two sides - I recommend the Brussel sprouts & the mushrooms. The NY steak was cooked perfectly & scallops were perfect.

Impeccable food quality & service, I wish the place could be less busy, kinda had to shout through the night on a busy summer night. We ordered the $89/person steak,scallop, shrimp & lobster platter, something like this in toronto will cost at least 1.5 times, huge portion for 3 people. We barely finish the plate. Had a great time!
The atmosphere was great, slightly loud because of the amount of people though. Originally, my New York strip steak was slightly overcooked (asked for a medium rare & got medium well done) but it was instantly recooked by the chef at no extra cost & all our food tasted great. Would recommend the NYS steak & the filet mignon.We visited for a birthday & the friendly staff provided us with a complimentary birthday dessert, at the end of our meal, made with maple syrup which was insanely good. One thing you should note is definitely take a reservation in advance if you plan to come with groups as the place does get quite busy. More on the expensive side but totally worth it.

This is a must visit for anyone traveling to Montreal looking for a nice cocktail, excellent service, a perfect steak & a wonderful time. Our service was spectacular, the 3 person option for the steak was delicious & perfect for our party. A perfectly cooked 40oz Tomahawk steak, 3 half lobster tails, 3 shrimp, 3 scallops, 3 sides & a beautiful dessert. I feel like I could've got a lot more sides. Everyone was here for a great experience & we got that. The kitchen was busy. Espresso martini was astounding. The sauces that came with the meat: bbq, chimmichurri, red wine, & hot pepper sauce. The tomahawk came with the bone & of course we all took a nice bite of the meat left on the bone. Only way to do it if you're going to come to a place like this & enjoy yourself. 10/10 will come again.
Steak Ribeye à 71$ froid, pas très goûteux & à ce prix chez les concurrents, l'accompagnement est inclus dans le prix. La serveuse était joyeuse & très efficace. L'ambiance bien mais un peu trop bruyante.
I went for the first time last night & ordered the rib steak. Unfortunately this was the worst rib steak I've ever had - tough, chewy & flavourless. I really wish I had sent it back - for the price this should be an amazingly cut. My friends shared the tomahawk & it was way better - everyone tasted my steak & agreed it was terrible. I wish the server had come & asked how everything was & I would have sent it back but she never came. The pudding Chomeur & vanilla soft serve was noteworthy & delicious. I would come back again just for that dessert & the tomahawk I sadly watched my friends eat with envy. The vibe is great too & the manager was also exceptional, giving us a bottle of wine on the house & a complimentary dessert platter after our server spilled wine on my friend. Overall, Grinder is still worthwhile despite my bad steak & all my friends enjoyed their meals.
