Grinder restaurant is located on Notre-Dame street, in the heart of Griffintown. Indeed, this neighborhood located in the southwest of Montreal is dynamic and promising; residential and commercial projects are already underway.
The original decor screams Zébulon Perron (Furco, Buvette à Simone, Philémon). He created a comfortable and warm restaurant, kitchen and raw bar. Grinder characterizes itself by vintage and modern elements such as glass and metal.
On the menu, raw & cooked items: tartares, tatakis, ceviches, carpaccios, etc. Also on the menu, steaks and grilled or braised pieces of meats, all to be shared. Grinder also offers a variety of fish and seafood, served cooked or raw as well. More than a simple steakhouse, all food lovers will find something to their liking among their selection of fresh products.
A 100% of their wine list consists of privately imported wines, always changing with the seasons, and of course focusing on wines produced while respecting nature.
Reviews consistently praise Grinder for high quality steaks, seafood, and flavorful dishes, with many mentions of memorable experiences, generous portions, and a chic, energetic atmosphere that suits celebrations; however, service quality varies, occasional delays or forgetfulness occur, some dishes and sides receive mixed feedback, and the noise level or crowding can be a drawback during busy times.
I've been here twice & the food has been really good both times. Definitely worth a visit! Prices can vary depending on what you order, but the quality makes it worthwhile.
The meat is excellent. But service far too slow especially given how many staff are milling about; it is dark & too noisy to actually enjoy being with people. Next time I will buy the meat from their butcher shop next door & cook at home.
Good, food, service, vibe. We were sitting outside & very disappointed with abnormal amount of flies surrounding every table. Restaurant with such a caliber & reputation needs to fix issues like that. There are ways to eliminate that.
The food here is absolutely incredible! We ate here three times during our week-long stay because everything was just that good. The Bluefin tuna crudo with pineapple sauce was out of this world. On one visit, we enjoyed a baked potato during cocktail hour, & another time we had the perfectly cooked steak with huge shrimp, scallops, green beans, & (of course) another baked potato. Every single bite was fantastic. The servers were so attentive & genuinely sweet, making every visit feel special. I even came back for a third visit before heading to the airport because I couldn't get enough!

Amazing staff & the most delicious foods. Ambiance is incredible & makes for the best date night, night out with friends, family suppers, birthdays, etc.
Delicious food overall, it was pricey but fair & the atmosphere was rather rustic in a nice way. The waitress did end up forgetting one of our entrées but in the end we were full so it wasn't so bad. Highly recommend the beef short ribs.
Amazing experience in all senses. Food, attention & ambient were all very nice. The filet mignon I ordered was super tasty, one of the best I ever ate. I will go again in my next visit to the city, for sure. Make sure you book a table, it use to be full!

We've been to Grinder twice now, this time for Mother's Day, & both visits were fantastic. The food, service, & atmosphere all hit the mark.
My favourite thing on the menu has to be the Hamachi, so fresh & flavourful. This time around, we ordered the Wagyu carpaccio, Hamachi, French onion soup, steak (which came with a flight of sauces, loved that touch), & the short ribs. For sides, we had the sweet potato fries & mushrooms. The only small letdown was the mushrooms, not because they weren't good, but because they were different from the ones we had the first time, which we absolutely loved. Still tasty though!
Everything was delicious & well-executed. I'd definitely recommend trying this spot.
The last photo is from our first visit, surf & turf platter with those amazing mushrooms I was hoping to have again.
The food & customer service was excellent! The reason why Im rating the atmosphere a 2 stars is because the place was infested with flies. One of my colleague almost swallow one while talking.
Des plats incroyables & une équipe sous le feu d'un midi chargé mais avec le sourire, une bienveillance & une sympathie rare!!! 🙏
Merci pour ce délicieux moment 🙏
