Always tasty, classic steakhouse fare. The New York cheesecake is the best in town. Only downside is the price, somehow $35 for a side plate of mushrooms for 2.
The service & ambiance were excellent. My rib eye steak was at best a 3,5 - on the chewy side, & just not that tasty. I will give them a 2nd chance when next in Montreal, because the rest of the experience was good.

Beautiful old place with lots of character. Staff were very nice & the service was impressive most of the time but they sadly weren't on top of filling our waters even though we went later & the restaurant was pretty empty. The food was very good overall, best part was the steak, well season & grilled however I had to send back my steak due to it being overcooked, asked for medium rare & got it medium well, luckily they were quick to rectify this! Overall, the experience was very good! For the price & class of the place I did expect a bit more though, would go again & recommend!
The service & atmosphere are stellar. I went for my birthday & got a complementary cake.
The food: I've had the filet mignon & beef wellington. They were both amazing, cooked to perfection & seasoned wondefully. The only complaint I have is the borderlaise sauce for the beef wellington was too sage-heavy, but the steak, duxelle, & puff pastry were so good sauce was not necessary. The iceberg salad is one of the best salads I ever had, & you can get extra bacon to your liking. The mocktails are sweet & flavorful. The fries were okay, not much seasoning but cooked perfectly.
Our server Klaude was great & I hope to get him as our server next time I go.
Been wanting to come here for years just to realize it was pretty much just an expensive steakhouse.
Food & service was great! I knew it wasn't going to be cheap but for the price I was expecting that the place would've had a much more intimate atmosphere. Most tables were very much close to each other to maximize space (a wheelchair wouldn't be able to pass around as easily). & the music was also slightly loud.
Totally fine to come for a special occasion.
With the new ownership & menu Gibby's has lost its Lustre. The menu is not nearly as varied, the salad has slipped in quality & the service is not the same experienced crew that I loved. The dessert was actually stale. I would recommend RibnReef as the premier Steakhouse. I would only go back if you are looking for the old Montreal experience
Nice ambiance steakhouse near Old Town Montreal. It's an old converted horse stable. Very cozy with fireplaces. My steak dish was okay but not as impressive as I had expected. Very good wine list & attentive service.

Dès notre arrivé dans ce lieu historique jusqu'à la prise en charge de notre serveuse Cynthia, l'arrivé de notre nourriture & la fin de notre repas, l'expérience a été exceptionnelle. L'ambiance est unique, le service excellent & quoi dire de la nourriture! La salade gibbys, buratta, cowboy steak & la patate toute garnie débordaient de saveur! Notre serveuse s'est assurée qu'on ne manquait de rien, du début à la fin, & a même pris la peine de nous prendre en photo polaroid. Après avoir fait plusieurs steakhouse à Montréal, je peux dire sans équivoque que mon expérience au gibbys est de loin la meilleure & la plus mémorable! Merci Cynthia d'avoir rendu cette soirée aussi superbe!
Gibby is one of the best steakhouse in Montreal, they offer high-quality meat cuts, the Rockefeller oysters, & my best dish there is the garlic snail, & when you take the bread & dip it into the garlic sauce. I highly recommend this place.

Great steakhouse. The food was delicious. The Beef Wellington was cooked perfectly. The only disappointment was service became super slow once the restaurant got very busy & the key lime pie was not super fresh.
My favorite Montreal Steakhouse! The ribeye boneless & filet mignon are awesome & so are their pickles & bread treats! Also get the wedge salad while you're at it :)
45 minutes d'attente pour une surlonge de steak, la salade Gibbys est embarrassante… trop originale & sans saveur. Les prix sont ridicules pour le qualité du steak; sans goût & goûte le brûlé. L'accompagnement du steak est à désirer.
Ramener vos manteaux, il fait extrêmement froid dans le restaurant ! Pas chauffé
Côté positif: La soupe aux oignons gratinée est délicieuse & les employés sont superbes ! 😊

Very tasty & well presented food (we had the Gibby's salad & the cow-boy's steak for two). The espresso martinis were delicious, the service very attentive, professional & friendly & the vibe is very cozy.
The perfect place for a romantic dinner or a night out with friends or family!

We had dinner at the wonderful old-school Montreal steakhouse & were truly impressed with the evening. It is very much a throwback to the old steakhouse style restaurants & they pull it off extremely well. Montrealers told us it was great but expensive & they were right on both.
