Wonderful meal at Gibby's this evening. It has been years since I was last there & I was happy to learn that the food, service & atmosphere were still at the same impeccable level as I remembered it. The Beef Wellington was superb as were the Cornish Game Hens. Our server Adib was nothing short of splendid. Cannot recommend Gibby's enough!
A quintessential old school steakhouse. Our server Amin was amazing & the food was excellent. The Beef Wellington was cooked perfectly. Would definitely recommend & would return 10/10

Jai vraiment apprécié l'expérience, c'était vraiment délicieux un beau mélange de saveurs & de textures qui ont réjoui mon palais, les serveurs sont chaleureux & très professionnel, c'est un endroit romantique & assez calme je recommande la salade pêches & burrata un vrai délice 🙂
A (now former) friend of mine tried to tell me that''The Keg' is just as good as Gibby's, if not better, so I asked him exactly what kind of drugs he's been smoking! VERY embarassing & SAD, Owen! I've had the crab cakes at Gibby's & I've had the crab cakes at'The Keg,' & let me tell you, it's not even remotely close! & that's without even mentioning the STEAKS!
Pre-appatizers: Before they even take your order they bring you pickles, bread, butter, bacon bits, etc -- now THAT is service! Everything in this category is excellent, be careful not to fill up on it.
Steaks: These are the best steaks in town, believe me! I recommend the wellington, 8oz tenderloin, & ribeye. Tremendous! Friend of mine had the rack of lamb & said it was wonderful.
Appateizers: Really recommend the burrata appatizer (served with fresh peaches, nice!), beef carpaccio, clam chowder, & the crab cakes. They bring you a green salad or wedge salad to start as well -- IMO these can be ommitted; good but not special. Once upon a time gaspacho was offered as well which was the BOMB! Unfortunately it's no longer part of the starter options which is regrettable indeed.
Fish/Chicken/Other Mistakes: If I wanted fish I'd go to a fish-house, not a steak-house. I mean, really? . . . anyways, the wife had the salmon or halibut or some non-steak item & really enjoyed it . . . she'll come around!
Sides: Monte Carlo Potato, sauteed mushrooms, whatever you like. Quality.
Dessert: Cheesecake with blueberry reduction . . . simply incredible! Ice cream . . . very nice! Chocolate Cake . . . elite!
Drinks: Many excellent wine choices. Whiskey Sour was no joke.
Prices: Very pricey IMO, special occasion type of spot. But, you know this going in & you certainly get what you pay for!
Overall: NO GIBBY'S SLANDER WILL BE TOLERATED! Gibby's is an institution in Montreal, & is somehow not universally hailed as the best place in town! Would love to see the gaspachpo make a return, but hey . . . whatcanyoudo?
We had such an amazing time at Gibbys! Our waiter Adib M gave us the best experience. He explained everything on the menu & was very knowledgeable on the items. He told us the history of the building & was everything a good waiter should be ! 10/10 would recommend!!!
Celebrated my birthday at Gibbys while in Montreal. Started with table bread, steak tartare & escargot. All delicious. Beef Wellington was one of the best I've had. Great service & ambiance as well. Highly recommended in you are in Old Montreal!

Notre première visite était sous forme de date night & on nous a assis à côté de plusieurs groupes qui étaient bruyants. Nous comprenons cela mais peut être il aurait été judicieux de ne pas placer des tables de deux à côté des tables de 10. Cela dit, nous avions une réservation pour 20h30, & nous sentions que le service était essoufflé & laissait à désirer. Longue attente avant de prendre notre commande, verres d'eau qui restent vides. Jai commandé un Martini avec olives farcies au fromage bleu mais on m'a apporté le drink avec des olives avec noyaux sans explications ou excuses. Lorsque j'ai posé des questions à ce sujet, on m'a fait sentir comme si je devais accepter le drink bidon à 22$ sans dire un mot. Au prix payé pour le repas en général, je m'entendais à un service de plus attentionné & chaleureux. C'est comme si les tables avec les factures les plus élevées recevaient un meilleur service.Cela dit, le steak était très bon ainsi que la chaudrée de palourdes. Pour un repas similaire à meilleur prix & avec un meilleur service, je recommande The Keg.
A few people recommended trying Gibby's on our trip to Montreal. So glad we did the food was amazing & atmosphere was everything. Our server Adib was amazing. So warm & friendly & service was on point & efficient. Thanks for your attentiveness & great recommendations on things to try. Adib made our experience so much better more memorable. Definitely will be back!
While in Montreal on business. One of my coworkers from Calgary, who is originally from Montreal highly recommended we all go to Gibby's for dinner. It was a wonderful & absolutely wonderful experience. The restaurant was quite busy, which is apparently pretty common for this really popular restaurant. Initially they sat us in a lounge area upstairs, where we enjoyed a couple of appetizers & some drinks & were served by the most wonderful server imaginable. We all Loved her.
When we were finally brought downstairs to eat, we enjoyed an unbelievable dinner & some great wine selections. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are ever in Montreal. Not to be taken lightly. This is a high-end restaurant with high-end quality, food, & wines.
But the staff was over-the-top professional, & we loved every moment of it.

Haven't been in years. Came for lunch with friends & their $50, 3 course menu is a real winner. Traditional sides like pickles & warm bread, plus that sorbet to cleanse your pallet in between courses. Oh & they still serve those minty cold chocolates at the end of the meal. A classic MTL resto that still delivers. Recommend !

While this feels like a traditional steakhouse, they pay attention to every detail. Our service was wonderful & from the Gibby's salad to the seasonal cheesecake the food & cocktails were wonderful. You could also feel the history of the building. Highly recommend.
Le restaurant Gibby's peut paraître un peu guindé au premier abord, mais dès qu'on y entre, on comprend vite que tout est tout simplement parfait.
Le service est impeccable, l'accueil professionnel mais chaleureux, & chaque détail est soigné.
Quant aux plats… un vrai régal du début à la fin ! Tout était savoureux, bien présenté, & préparé avec une grande attention.
Si vous cherchez une expérience culinaire chic, raffinée & inoubliable, Gibby's est une adresse que je recommande vivement.
Delicious food & great service in between courses. We were never waiting for a long time.
They had a great way of adding a few little things to make the experience better. Pickles with the bread, a small lemon sorbet in between appetizers & the main course to clear the pallet, & mint chocolates at the end to have you leaving refreshed.
They didn't know the family / a la cart style we were looking for (different steaks cut for each man to try on their plate) but they learned 😏
Would recommend the Burrata, dipping the bread in the escargot flavoring, the sirloin, the lamb chops, &/or the beef Wellington as a must.

May be one of the best lunch experiences I've ever had. Gibby's dining room is located in a beautiful old building, the food was exquisite, service was top notch & the value for money ($50 for a three-course lunch) was excellent. First time tasting French Onion Soup & I can't imagine it ever being better than that. Will be making a point to visit every time I go to Montreal in future. Can't recommend Gibby's enough!
Beautiful old place with lots of character. Staff were very nice & the service was impressive most of the time but they sadly weren't on top of filling our waters even though we went later & the restaurant was pretty empty. The food was very good overall, best part was the steak, well season & grilled however I had to send back my steak due to it being overcooked, asked for medium rare & got it medium well, luckily they were quick to rectify this! Overall, the experience was very good! For the price & class of the place I did expect a bit more though, would go again & recommend!
Went to Gibbys Monday April 14 for my partners birthday, amazing service from the second we stepped in. Got sat at Vitaly's Table he gave us the most amazing experience we could've asked for. Great man, great waiter, amazing service & we had an amazing night. I Recommend this location & vitally of course! 10/10. Food was amazing too by the way.
With the new ownership & menu Gibby's has lost its Lustre. The menu is not nearly as varied, the salad has slipped in quality & the service is not the same experienced crew that I loved. The dessert was actually stale. I would recommend RibnReef as the premier Steakhouse. I would only go back if you are looking for the old Montreal experience
